You cannot. Only the analog swing is available up on those levels.

Thanks DB. That sucks because I really enjoy the return of the old 3-click meter. As long as I keep the meter under 100% I have no problems hitting the sweet spot every time and thats just no fun.

This game is 10x better than 07 in almost every way. The difficulty level being the biggest change. I am sooo happy this game is legit because having played the PC version for years now, I'm very disappointed in it. At least there is a nice console alternative. Plus, it looks significantly better as well. Can't beat that.

I agree about all of the cut scenes, you really should be able to turn all of that stuff off. I find myself just pounding the A button all round long. Oh well, small price to pay I suppose. I'm sure that's how they are hiding the rendering in the background. It is definitely better than a progress bar between each shot.

Interesting. My understanding is that the only level 3-click is not available is TOUR Pro. Going to check it out myself. Thanks for the feedback.

BTM,

Are you playing with the Pros on Balanced or are you playing with a created character on Balanced? I am playing Balanced right now with my created character in 3-click and I am finding it anything but easy....

I played with a created character on balanced with 3-click and was several shots under par on the front 9...for me, it's quite a bit easier.

Well, the PSP doesn't come with a three time clicker, something I really enjoyed with Hot Shots Golf, which by the way I still play and is a damn fine golf game. Is Tiger using the same 3 way click? Other than reading the speed and breaks on the greens, I am having a good time playing the portable version. I wouldn't mind if they would include the clicker during putts because the analog almost always makes the ball go further than where you want it to go.

And I think I'll be getting the 360 version today instead of the PS3.

You are correct, 3-click only available for Easy/Balanced difficulty.

Picked this up last night (PS3) and played one round at Carnoustie with Tiger on Tour Pro just to see the results. I shot 23 over (i was 12 over after three) and enjoyed every second of the round. Driving is mucho difficult. When i did hit from the fairway (not often) i felt rewarded with a crisp second shot and when i hit from the rough.....ouch, just the way it should be.

I steered clear of 2007 but right now i am very happy i picked this up.

I have played 3 click with a created character on Balanced. I have zero difficulty shooting good scores. If I do have a bad hole, its certainly not because I mis-hit the ball.

I don't understand why you can't select 3-click on hard. If they wanted to leave it off in Tour Pro difficulty fine, but at least give it to us on hard and speed up the meter or something. I could really, really love this game with a more difficult 3-click meter.

I got the Wii version yesterday, and managed to get aboou 1 1/2 hours in last night.

'08 is MUCH better than '07 was on the Wii. I will not be able to go back to golf games with a controller or mouse ever again.

The awkwardness of swinging last year is gone. It is almost 1:1. Last year movements triggered the animations, but this year they have it done right. I only had 1 *oops* swing, and that was while I was testing out if it was 1:1, so I didn't swing right.

The putting is 100x better than last year, and much more difficult. There is now a meter for both back and forward motion, so you can see how hard your swing was in both directions. Putting was too easy last year, but now seems much more true to life.

The only area I'm still not completely happy with is the chipping. It still seems a bit off as far as power and distance. I can swing at 100% with a club that says will go 50yds, but it only goes 25.

Overall, I'm real happy with this one.

from teamxbox.com:

"As Andy noted in his review of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08, there's a lock-up bug in the Henrietta Brockway event in the Tiger Challenge. The loading screen between the second and third holes freezes up, forcing gamers to reboot their Xbox 360.

We contacted EA, which confirmed the existance of the bug and provided a workaround:

Hold down the A button while launching the game from the dashboard.

A fix to this bug is addressed in apatch that has already been sent to Microsoft for certification. Should be up soon."

The slider setting to increase the frenquency of swallowing seems broken. As does the two-girl slider. I think they are just for show. :D

Glad to hear about Wii version MatthewK. Keep the impressions coming over the next few days when you delve into the game a little deeper.

I can confirm the rubberband AI. I played the first two rounds at Princeville last night with my created player and shot an 86 in the first round while the top five scores ranged from 65-71. Round two I shot an 80 and those same five players scores ranged from 80-86. Don't see anywhere in the settings where that can be adjusted or turned off. I like what I've played of it so far though and it's definitely harder than last years.

Am I allowed to say game face is "broken"? I've tried to get in about 20 times over the past two days. I promise to edit my post with some flowery remarks about EA when it is fixed. Love the gameplay though...

I'm pretty patient. It's not that big of a deal to me, but it's tough to explain to a 4 1/2 year old why it doesn't work (and not use profanity in the process). They don't comprehend things like "planning." I do envy EA for its ability to make failures sound like overwhelming successes.

I'm very pleased with the game. It's actually good that the things that bug me are pretty easy to fix (let me play a season in a PGA licensed game with a Pro, make it so I don't long for Madden's radio announcer, in game saves, etc.)
