Bump it up to the max widescreen resolution and then see how it runs. I've still got 07 installed and it runs significantly better than 08.
I can't that's the highest setting for my 17" Viewsonic flat panel.

Well...then it makes sense. Once you start pushing more pixels, it gets dicey as hell in 08. It's a joke. It is supposed to get better, not worse.

I love how he complains about the putt preview system because, *gasp*, he occasionally misses a putt.

You shouldn't be using that system anyway...in fact, I think once you hit the higher levels, the game disables it. So obviously he is stuck on the lower levels. Yeah, nice dedication.

IGN doesn't know a damn thing about sports games, period. No use in even reading it.

So I guess it's difficult to judge the speed of the putt on the 360 as well, eh? On the PSP, the aerial view tells you the color of the grass texture sometimes and that's where I basically judge the length and speed of the putt. But I seem to overhit or just fall short by a few feet 50% of the time. But when you fall short, they want you to use the right shoulder button to add that extra push, the same button used to add power to a driver or iron. A big flaw there. Putting should be all about touch, not power.

Now having said that I am sure EA will come with a patch to fix that problem in career mode, I am just waiting for more impressions as I may swing for the PS3 instead.

1. No, not at all.

2. I can't tell you how much the rumble makes a difference when playing this game because it gives you feedback when you mis-hit and depending upon the severity iof mis-hit, the controller rumble is proportionate.

I played 18 at Pebble Beach on Tour Pro with Adam Scott. I haven't played the series since the original XBox.

Positives

-Graphics look pretty good. They aren't the best I have seen, but for a sports game they are very well done. I also like the main camera angle behind the player.

-Analog stick is more sensitive than the XBox days. For a brief period early on I hit everything straight, but that quickly ended. To get more accurate shots I had to swing easier and sacrifice distance. I ended up posting a 92 which played more to a mid 80s score for reasons I will mention later.

-Tempo seems to play a significant role in the swing. I was killing my putts early on before I realized I was rushing the putter through and getting twice the distance I intended.

Negatives

-This is not a big deal, but when you take a short putt the putter follows through as if you are attempting a 30 footer. Many times the camera doesn't even show the putter, so it's minor.

-Out of bounds seems a little strict. I was barely past the cartpath on one hole but was ruled OB. I'm pretty sure that's not how the hole is marked in real life. I actually hit 4 straight OB this way because I couldn't straighten out my hook.

-Presentation annoys me. EA gives me this great behind the golfer angle, but then throws up a static EA logo that doesn't go away during the shot. Why not just give me the full screen HUD-less treatment?

Additionally the cut screens are out of hand. The A button quickly skips them, but I can't imagine anyone wanting to see a practice swing before every single shot and then a reaction screen afterwards. I hope there's a way to disable them, but I don't think there is. One thing I do enjoy is the action cuts. They show for important shots, even if you don't stick it 2 feet from the pin and are integrated seamlessly.

My final presentation complaint is that I had to wait 10 seconds or so for the scorecard to load each hole. I hope this was because the course flybys were loading, but I haven't checked.

Overall I'm satisfied with the game so far. The physics aren't PC Links-like, but they seem solid, and I really felt like I had to manage the course to play away from danger. Most of my complaints are minor and cosmetic, and I think this will be an enjoyable game to play online or when I just want to play a quick 9.

Okay. Love the demo. IGN doesn't know jack. This game is MUCH more challenging that previous Tigers, and looks awesome. Can't wait! But I'm going on vacation this week, so the game'll have to wait til next week...

I feel fairly confident judging by some of IGN's remarks that they never played on Tour Pro difficulty. I could be wrong.

Just fired up the game and tried a quick game with a bud from OS on Tour difficulty. I shot +30 from hard tees with a default, newly-created-golfer-with-5-in-all-attributes player. I can guarantee that the IGN guys didn't play it on Tour if they think that it's too easy and any putt can be drained. I didn't even see a 'putt preview' option, not that I was looking very hard.

Putt preview is not in Tour Pro mode. I played a few holes at Sawgrass and take back what I said about the graphics. They were very sweet.

I'm just glad Tiger got rid of the green carpet look. That's one things that always impressed me about Links, it looked like grass and a living golf course. It seems Tiger got it right this year.

Yeah you are right. I haven't played much golf in recent years, but the blades of grass and general textures are impressive.

Look forward to some of your impressions, although as Divot was mentioning, if both games play the same, the rumble feature and Live would tilt my wish for the 360 version.

Anyone with PSP impressions? I can't find a review or anything anywhere on the 'net. Is there the same course stat tracking that is in the console version? I would also love to hear how the PS3 version compares to the 360 demo.

I put a little time in playing this evening. Ok, perhpas I tjunged a bit, but still I feel I pretty much got a fairly good representation of the game.

This is the PS3 version mind you. The graphics to me looked a bit washed out. It certainly looked better last year on my 360, so take that for what it's worth. It just looks strange when they pan the hole prior to the first shot that the colors seem to fade from washed out to a bit more color in the trees and in the grass. Also, it doesn't appear that the fabric of the clothes sway. You look at Tiger after a swing and his sleeve doesn't move. It looks more painted on.

In my estimation, this game is not moving at 60fps. I still feel that choppy framerate moreso in the menus than the gameplay. There is a 10 second or so delay between holes. It's kind of annoying. Also, when the drive is put in the play, you just don't get that smooth feeling of the ball flying through the air.

I much prefer the 3 click approach than the analog stick. I played on default, so it seemed rather easy to get pars and birdies as long as you didn't gamble too much approaching the 100 percent. I'm sure it would be much more challenging as I moved up from easy however.

I'm just not too enthralled with the overall presenation. While some of the atmosphere is nice (planes flying overhead, shouts from the crowd, spectators walking up the sides of the course, etc.) the commentary in my opinion is severely lacking. If I'm going to play a sim golf game, I don't want to hear litte spurts of commentary, I want to feel as though I'm watching it on tv. EA presentation in Madden and Tiger Woods golf is an embarrassment to next gen gaming. Because of the lack of immersion, I bored easily playing this game.

I will say I'm not an avid golf fan. A game such as this will not suck me in, because I do not have emotional appeal to the other pros in the game. I'd rather play a quick round of 9 and be entertained than feel as though I'm playing a dry game such as this.

I can't recommend this game on the PS3. Im sure it looks better on the 360, but I don't know if it's enough to have much lasting appeal.

I only played 9 holes on HARD and it was, well, hard. Shot 9 over but i was just trying to get a feel for things. Im heading back in to give TOUR a try. The EA servers are getting hammered so its pretty much impossible to get the Game Face feature working. I was really looking forward to messing with that tonight. Oh well, tomorrow I guess.

I have to say, after playing the demo, and feeling the impact of the ball on my controller, I can't imagine getting this on a PS3 before the 360...the feeling was awesome.

Demo was extremely cool and I think I will get the full agme later this week.

I hope Frye's has it on sale.

Is it even possible to play 3 click on harder difficulty levels than the default balanced? I posted this question at Operation Sports as well, but I can't get the 3 click meter to even come up on Hard or Tour Pro difficulty. A real shame too because its way too easy on balanced.
