I'd have to say Gerrard's - good as Beckham's was, the positioning of the keeper was woeful.JRod wrote:
Wanted to ask this question, which was the better free kick overall. Beckham's Super Liga FK or Gerrard's free kick last week? As much as I know football, I don't know which would be the superior FK. Both were sensational but in terms of quality which would be better one?

I agree. That shot was basically unstoppable, as it was so close to the top corner. Unfortunately, Stevie doesn't have 10% of Golden Balls' consistency with dead ball chances. He's particularly dreadful at corners.davet010 wrote:I'd have to say Gerrard's - good as Beckham's was, the positioning of the keeper was woeful.JRod wrote:

Id have to agree with Dave , the goalie looked to me like he didnt even want to save it, he took a step to the left as if it was a penalty which rendered him helpless. The ball was bent towards the goalie and if hed reacted to the direction after it instead of before it was kicked he should of at least got a hand to it.davet010 wrote:I'd have to say Gerrard's - good as Beckham's was, the positioning of the keeper was woeful.JRod wrote:

While Gerrards was just precision absolutely fantastic strike giving no goalie a chance.
The same goalie would have saved Beckhams.
Stevie G just rises to the occasion Champions league, Fa cup last second free kicks to name a few

I think if Lampard wasn't at Chelsea he would be discovered as a fraud. How can a guy be good at Chelsea and so bad at the national side.

You said if Lampard was on Chelsea he would be discovered as a fraud. I think possibly you meant Liverpool? Lampard is on Chelsea.

Lampard's an odd player. I don't go out of my way to watch Chelsea games, but I see him enough between there and England. He never looks like doing much, but he ends up with 20 goals somehow LOL

Maybe that's it. He somehow finds a way to do less for England.RobVarak wrote:Lampard's an odd player. I don't go out of my way to watch Chelsea games, but I see him enough between there and England. He never looks like doing much, but he ends up with 20 goals somehow LOL

Sven hit the nail on the head when asked after the West Ham game why his England teams never played with the speed and flair of Man City (christ, I'm laughing as I'm typing that) when they beat West Ham.JRod wrote:Maybe that's it. His answer - "Elano isn't English".
McClown is missing 14 players for tomorrow - it's even possible that Alan Smith might get a game, so that's how hard up they are.

Lampard? Jimmy summed him up pretty well a bit earlier. He's not the flashiest player in the world but what he has, at least in a Chelsea shirt, is a knack for always being on the end of things. What he has in an England shirt seems at times to border on desperation, and the harder he tries, the worse he seems to get.
No idea what sort of a squad Germany have sent but I'm finding it hard to be confident about tomorrow night. I'm finding it still harder to care.
In fact, mate, my efforts at the heart of Sports Bar's midfield the other Saturday morning earned me a late call-up, but after taking the call from McClaren I tweaked my shoulder while reaching over my gut to fasten my boot laces so that's my international debut out of the window.davet010 wrote:it's even possible that Alan Smith might get a game, so that's how hard up they are.

I was asked to appear as cover for Paul Robinson as I'm not as heavy and more mobile, but can't find me gloves....I think I used them last time I was resealing the bath.

Can't understand why Wenger hasn't dumped Lehmann already. It's plain that he doesn't have much confidence in Almunia, because he would surely have been given a run after Lehmann's follies of the last 2 seasons.

Yeah - first on the shopping list whenever I start a new Football Manager game..can't wait for a data update that has City starting with pots of cash.
Another England international, another clanger from Robinson. Other than that, a decent performance where England created by far the better chances, but Owen had a stinker.
There were, of course, the usual pieces of McLaren idiocy as well.
- bringing on Gareth Barry then playing him in the centre, where he looked like he was just there to fill up the space and get in everyone's way.
- bringing on SWP and playing him on the left.
- bringing on the aptly named Kieron Dyer and playing him upfront. He's got 33 caps, and has scored as many international goals as me, so I could see why McLaren would do that.
Cracking second goal for Germany, mind you.

yeh ,thought Becks had a less than average game Lamps looked realy sharp and SWP looked good even on the left.
But Dyer i agree , could Mclaren not see Defoe sitting behind him ? Poor guy must be ready to snap now between club and country.
An entertaining game, and Cole never dived i was quite pleased now if they can play that relaxed when the pressure is on .
We need some forwards tho or a manager who plays wingers on the wing.
