BioShock (No Spoilers).

Finally built my new rig and it's ready for Bioshock. Been testing it out on games like Company of Heroes, Oblivion and GRAW 2. Smooth as butter. I'll definitely be stopping by Circuit City at lunch time tomorrow.

Yup, mines the same way. Nice and smooth. Gamefly shipped it for the 360 so I'm sure I'll just save the 40 bucks I'd spend on the PC version. Although, it certainly looks better on the PC. Not sure if it's worth 40 bucks though. We'll see. I wasn't expecting to get it day of release from Gamefly, so I guess they saved me 40 bucks again.TCrouch wrote:Played the demo on my rig and had everything cranked, DX10 shaders on...smooth as can be. Already have the 360 version on the way or I would probably switch to PC.

I'm sure that most of you are going to grab this pretty soon anyway, but I took an early lunch to snag it at my local Best buy, and it was flying off the shelves there. Everyone in my line (4 people) at the register had one, with the guy in front of me buying the console with it and the woman behind me a mom picking it up for her kid. Two other guys literally grabbed it off the shelf the same time I did, too. The store had maybe two dozen left, an hour and a half or so after opening.
Amazing! Totally immersive and elegant beyond words. At least the first half-hour
The level of detail and thoughtfulness put into the design of the world makes the typically tedious job of searching for power-ups etc. completely enjoyable. I'm spending so much time eyeballing the little details that I find myself wandering into trouble every now and then.

Here's one thing I don't understand. What do they mean when you can explore the environments? Is it like a really big linear map where you can go off for bit and explore then are forced back into the linear story?

Had anyone seen any PC Limited Editions? Did they decide not to make an LE for the PC?btmmayor wrote:I picked up my limited edition at lunch today. The thing is the size of a brick!
Its good to hear that this game is moving some copies.

It means that along the way there are nooks and crannys (and art, glorious art!) to explore. It's nowhere near a sandbox game, and at least I didn't expect it to be so.
I want hi-res .jpegs of some of those movie posters, now!

Local Circuit City was out went I got there. Was pleasantly surprised that WalMart price-matched the ad so I still got it for $49.99.
I can't wait to pop this one in tonight. I forced myself to just get a small taste in the demo so I wouldn't ruin anything.

There are 2 limited editions out in the UK for the PC - one with a steel case (£30) and one with a model Big Daddy (£40), though these might be limited to certain retailers. My metal case one should be dropping through the letterbox in the next couple of days.LAking wrote:Had anyone seen any PC Limited Editions? Yeah, no worries mate, I don't think a lousy switch will spoil anything. Found it. The thing is you have to play this game at night to get the most atmospheric feel, it was a bit too bright on my TV. Great game indeed, it sucks you like a Hoover.dbdynsty25 wrote:Didn't we say no spoilers? And by the way...this game is f*cking ridiculous. I love it...and I'm not a huge fan of FPS.
