I have been wondering the same thing. Everyone in the West that is playing has played one another. Just waiting on some others that have yet to play a game :(

I'm still in if there is still interest since I did pledge to be in it until the bitter end. I had been traveling but am back now and will try to catch up over the weekend.

I do wonder, though, how long the interest will hold given the INTfest nature of virtually all the games.

I'm still in if it's still on. I've been very busy at work lately preparing for a visit from the CEO. That's over now and life is back to normal.

Air Force 19
North Texas 21

Air Force and North Texas waited until the final play of the game to decide this contest. A couple of missed field goals coupled with 3 big plays by North Texas sealed Air Force's fate.

The Mean Green took a 7-0 lead with this big play:

<embed src='http://www.brightcove.com/playerswf' bgcolor='#FFFFFF' flashVars='allowFullScreen=true&initVideoId=1145072300&servicesURL=http://www.brightcove.com&viewerSecureGatewayURL=https://www.brightcove.com&cdnURL=http://admin.brightcove.com&autoStart=false' base='http://admin.brightcove.com' name='bcPlayer' width='486' height='412' allowFullScreen='true' allowScriptAccess='always' seamlesstabbing='false' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/dow ... h'></embed>

Air Force pulled within 4 with a field goal then took the lead with a touchdown set up by an interception return to the 5-yard-line.

With just under 30 seconds to go in the 1st half the Mean Green took a 14-10 lead with this 74-yard touchdown:

<embed src='http://www.brightcove.com/playerswf' bgcolor='#FFFFFF' flashVars='allowFullScreen=true&initVideoId=1145072301&servicesURL=http://www.brightcove.com&viewerSecureGatewayURL=https://www.brightcove.com&cdnURL=http://admin.brightcove.com&autoStart=false' base='http://admin.brightcove.com' name='bcPlayer' width='486' height='412' allowFullScreen='true' allowScriptAccess='always' seamlesstabbing='false' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/dow ... h'></embed>

Neither team could get much going in the 3rd quarter but Air Force had pulled within 1. The score was 14-13 going into the 4th quarter.

Early in the 4th quarter the Mean Green took a 21-13 lead with yet another big play. This time coming from a pass to the halfback.

<embed src='http://www.brightcove.com/playerswf' bgcolor='#FFFFFF' flashVars='allowFullScreen=true&initVideoId=1145032762&servicesURL=http://www.brightcove.com&viewerSecureGatewayURL=https://www.brightcove.com&cdnURL=http://admin.brightcove.com&autoStart=false' base='http://admin.brightcove.com' name='bcPlayer' width='486' height='412' allowFullScreen='true' allowScriptAccess='always' seamlesstabbing='false' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/dow ... h'></embed>

Pinned on their 7-yard line, the Mean Green had another big play in the air to bring the ball out to midfield. On a third-and-long the Mean Green ran a
option play to the weak side that looked destined to pick up the first down and keep the clock moving. The Air Force defender made a hell of a play to knock the ball loose and give Air Force new hope with just under 3 minutes to play.

Air Force drove the ball down and scored a touchdown with 6-seconds left. The score was 21-19. They went for 2 and the tie but came up short. The onside kick was recovered by North Texas and the player who fielded the onside kick promptly dove to the ground to avoid a costly fumble.

Great game Walleye.

Yikes, LOL

I would like to play a game or two tonight if possible. If nothing else just play a few random games if no one from the West I have yet to play is available. Since I rented Madden, I haven't touched NCAA and want to get back to it ( I like it a lot better) I just wanted to give Madden a shot. So far the only thing I like in it is SuperStar mode. Took over Brady Quinn ;)

I'm available for games all day (haven't received Madden yet from Gamefly). What's weird is that they shipped DiRT a day after Madden, but DiRT got here yesterday... still no Madden. :(

Anyway, hit me up with a PM here or IM on XBL if you want to play NCAA (for the league or otherwise).

Well, I thought I'd be playing over the weekend but instead have been bailing out my basement of about a foot of water (we had nearly ten inches of rain yesterday). It used to be my gaming room but now everything is pulled out and drying off. Unfortunately I may be out of commission for a while.

I am sorry guys, while trying to find games with guys, I would just play online against randoms to get my skills up. The int's did it for me, I am trading this in.

Folks:

I'm back to the land of the living, and can play some games this weekend. East teamers, please check your PMs.

(In fact, I think everyone should set their preferences to email them when they have a PM, please. . . ).

It should almost be a requirement IMO. I will be honest, without the email notification, I am not sure I would ever know I have a PM.

Bad news bears!

I am back at school at WSU now, and finally have my internet set up. Problem is, it is slow as hell. So slow, that I can't play online.

I feel bad dropping out, and I will do my best to try and find a reliable replacement if one is readily available.

Duke Defeats MTSU 7-3 In Durham

Post by Zeppo »

Duke 7, MTSU 3

Duke and MTSU both got back into DSP NCAA League action after a short hiatus with a dreadfully boring defensive battle in Durham. Neither team got much going at all on offense all day. MTSU ended with 185 total yards, but Duke somehow won the game with only 53 total yards of offense.

The ugliness started right away. MTSU took their first possession and marched down the field, but the drive ended with this gaffe on 2nd and goal from the 2 (Duke is in the blue jerseys, MTSU wearing white):

<embed src='http://www.brightcove.com/playerswf' bgcolor='#FFFFFF' flashVars='allowFullScreen=true&initVideoId=1155177535&servicesURL=http://www.brightcove.com&viewerSecureGatewayURL=https://www.brightcove.com&cdnURL=http://admin.brightcove.com&autoStart=false' base='http://admin.brightcove.com' name='bcPlayer' width='486' height='412' allowFullScreen='true' allowScriptAccess='always' seamlesstabbing='false' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/dow ... h'></embed>

After more offensive ineptitude by the Blue Devils, MTSU again found themselves in position to score, but their short FG attempt was blocked:

<embed src='http://www.brightcove.com/playerswf' bgcolor='#FFFFFF' flashVars='allowFullScreen=true&initVideoId=1155087397&servicesURL=http://www.brightcove.com&viewerSecureGatewayURL=https://www.brightcove.com&cdnURL=http://admin.brightcove.com&autoStart=false' base='http://admin.brightcove.com' name='bcPlayer' width='486' height='412' allowFullScreen='true' allowScriptAccess='always' seamlesstabbing='false' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/dow ... h'></embed>

Later in the first half, MTSU finally broke the ice with a FG after this 39 yard catch and run put them into Duke territory. It was the longest play of the game:

<embed src='http://www.brightcove.com/playerswf' bgcolor='#FFFFFF' flashVars='allowFullScreen=true&initVideoId=1155181037&servicesURL=http://www.brightcove.com&viewerSecureGatewayURL=https://www.brightcove.com&cdnURL=http://admin.brightcove.com&autoStart=false' base='http://admin.brightcove.com' name='bcPlayer' width='486' height='412' allowFullScreen='true' allowScriptAccess='always' seamlesstabbing='false' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/dow ... h'></embed>

In the second half things turned around a bit, as Duke ended up with the better of the field position battle. After a nice punt return into MTSU territory, however, the Blue Devils gave the ball right back on this INT:

<embed src='http://www.brightcove.com/playerswf' bgcolor='#FFFFFF' flashVars='allowFullScreen=true&initVideoId=1155087398&servicesURL=http://www.brightcove.com&viewerSecureGatewayURL=https://www.brightcove.com&cdnURL=http://admin.brightcove.com&autoStart=false' base='http://admin.brightcove.com' name='bcPlayer' width='486' height='412' allowFullScreen='true' allowScriptAccess='always' seamlesstabbing='false' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/dow ... h'></embed>

With it looking more and more like the 3 point deficit would be too much for the Duke offense to overcome, MTSU gave the game away with this poor decision by the QB leading to an INT and a defensive score:

<embed src='http://www.brightcove.com/playerswf' bgcolor='#FFFFFF' flashVars='allowFullScreen=true&initVideoId=1155087399&servicesURL=http://www.brightcove.com&viewerSecureGatewayURL=https://www.brightcove.com&cdnURL=http://admin.brightcove.com&autoStart=false' base='http://admin.brightcove.com' name='bcPlayer' width='486' height='412' allowFullScreen='true' allowScriptAccess='always' seamlesstabbing='false' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/dow ... h'></embed>

This was an ugly game, no two ways about it. MTSU's QB was sacked 12 times. TWELVE! Duke's big DE #91 had 7 sacks. Duke was 5-10 in the air for 45 yds. Wow. Duke won the turnover battle with three take aways to one. I guess we were both a little rusty, but maybe we just suck! After this mess, Jared and I played a Florida vs. Louisville game that did make it look like we knew what we were doing, so who knows.

GG Jared. Good luck the rest of the way.

Duke Wins Second In A Row, Beats Temple 17-10

Post by Zeppo »

Duke 17, Temple 10

Duke traveled to Temple yesterday and came back from a 10-7 first half deficit to win 17-10 thanks to 3 timely interceptions from their defense. The total offensive yards ended up very close, with Duke gaining 181 yds and Temple 179.

Temple took an early 7-0 lead in the first quarter and added a FG in the 2nd to go ahead 10-0 before Duke got one score back with a TD late in the 2nd quarter:

<embed src='http://www.brightcove.tv/playerswf' bgcolor='#FFFFFF' flashVars='allowFullScreen=true&initVideoId=1200155655&servicesURL=http://www.brightcove.tv&viewerSecureGatewayURL=https://www.brightcove.tv&cdnURL=http://admin.brightcove.com&autoStart=false' base='http://admin.brightcove.com' name='bcPlayer' width='486' height='412' allowFullScreen='true' allowScriptAccess='always' seamlesstabbing='false' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/dow ... h'></embed>

Duke HB #21 finished with 108 yds on 16 carries, but a big chunk of that yardage came on a long run for a score immediately after Temple threw an INT on a 3rd and goal that was returned close to midfield:

<embed src='http://www.brightcove.tv/playerswf' bgcolor='#FFFFFF' flashVars='allowFullScreen=true&initVideoId=1200244809&servicesURL=http://www.brightcove.tv&viewerSecureGatewayURL=https://www.brightcove.tv&cdnURL=http://admin.brightcove.com&autoStart=false' base='http://admin.brightcove.com' name='bcPlayer' width='486' height='412' allowFullScreen='true' allowScriptAccess='always' seamlesstabbing='false' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/dow ... h'></embed>

<embed src='http://www.brightcove.tv/playerswf' bgcolor='#FFFFFF' flashVars='allowFullScreen=true&initVideoId=1200244810&servicesURL=http://www.brightcove.tv&viewerSecureGatewayURL=https://www.brightcove.tv&cdnURL=http://admin.brightcove.com&autoStart=false' base='http://admin.brightcove.com' name='bcPlayer' width='486' height='412' allowFullScreen='true' allowScriptAccess='always' seamlesstabbing='false' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/dow ... h'></embed>

Another interception sealed the game for Duke who were then able to run the clock out on the ground:

<embed src='http://www.brightcove.tv/playerswf' bgcolor='#FFFFFF' flashVars='allowFullScreen=true&initVideoId=1200244811&servicesURL=http://www.brightcove.tv&viewerSecureGatewayURL=https://www.brightcove.tv&cdnURL=http://admin.brightcove.com&autoStart=false' base='http://admin.brightcove.com' name='bcPlayer' width='486' height='412' allowFullScreen='true' allowScriptAccess='always' seamlesstabbing='false' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/dow ... h'></embed>
EDIT: It seems the EAWorld site is back up and running again, so I've inserted the highlights for this one.

Good game, Leadfoot. That was a battle. My team is better rated than yours, and I think they finally showed their quality in the late stages, but if it weren't for a couple of fortunate picks, I don't think i would have been able to score enough to win. Great stuff. It was a tense chess match throughout. Good luck the rest of the way!

Thanks Zep! It was yet another great game, don't think I've played a bad one yet this season... Congrats on the win!
