A few breaks here and there and this score might have been reversed as the Indian D really couldn't stop Tulsa. They just continually found themselves the recipients of errant throws.

Good game man, I really did appreciate your sportsmanship and the fact we were able to chat the whole time of an ugly game.
Good game...I knew it wasn't going to be my day after that first interception...the one where you LB showed superhuman reaction to a bullet pass not even five yards after it left the Qb's hands...you just have to laugh and remember it is a video game. And yes, I threw a couple of bad passes during that game, but it was my first time playing with Tulsa and their playbook so I was a little lost. Hopefully I can correct those mistakes and be a little more competetive next game.

Guys,

My schedule is beyond erratic with a 4 month-old in the house, so I've been slower to schedule things ahead of time. OTOH I've been on a lot lately. Just shoot me message if you see me on anytime.

Good game Spanner. After falling behind, I just couldn't get my passing game going when I needed it the most.

Air Force 6
New Mexico 35

After a close first half with New Mexico leading 7-6, the Lobos score 4 touchdowns in the second half to come away with a victory.

Turnovers hurt the Air Force Falcons as their quarterback struggled badly in the second half and ended up 4 for 14 for 44 yards with 5 interceptions. The Falcons also lost 2 fumbles.

New Mexico's quarterback played very well and ended up 11 for 20 with 232 yards, 4 tds and 2 ints.

Fun game Jon, good luck the rest of the the way.

Air Force 6
New Mexico 35

The 2-0 Lobos came back home to face Air Force and got off to a flat start. After stopping the Lobos on their first drive, Air Force put together a long TD drive that ended with the PAT getting blocked, to lead the home team 6-0.

The Lobos got a long TD drive of their own in the 2nd quarter to even the score, but a successful PAT gave them the 6-7 lead where they never looked back.

After halftime, Air Force came out looking very flat on both sides of the ball, giving up 7 turnovers (2 of them fumbles) which lead to some quick scores from the Lobo's.

With 2:42 left in the 3rd QTR, QB Porterie hooks up with HB Ferguson on a 49yd pass play. The play was originally designed as an run up the middle, but Porterie called the audible when he sensed the blitz, putting his RB in the slot for a quick pass that ended up being a busted play on defense, leaving the speedy RB all alone in the secondary:

<embed src='http://admin.brightcove.com/destination ... player.swf' bgcolor='#FFFFFF' flashVars='allowFullScreen=true&initVideoId=1136293561&servicesURL=http://www.brightcove.com&viewerSecureGatewayURL=https://www.brightcove.com&cdnURL=http://admin.brightcove.com&autoStart=false' base='http://admin.brightcove.com' name='bcPlayer' width='486' height='412' allowFullScreen='true' allowScriptAccess='always' seamlesstabbing='false' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/dow ... h'></embed>

After getting the ball back again shortly after that, Porterie connects this time with WR Jonathan Brooks for a 31yd TD over the middle with 23 seconds left in the 3rd Qtr:

<embed src='http://admin.brightcove.com/destination ... player.swf' bgcolor='#FFFFFF' flashVars='allowFullScreen=true&initVideoId=1136267027&servicesURL=http://www.brightcove.com&viewerSecureGatewayURL=https://www.brightcove.com&cdnURL=http://admin.brightcove.com&autoStart=false' base='http://admin.brightcove.com' name='bcPlayer' width='486' height='412' allowFullScreen='true' allowScriptAccess='always' seamlesstabbing='false' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/dow ... h'></embed>

Air Force started off the 4th with an INT on their first play, giving the Lobo's a short field who took advantage with a 38yd strike to Ferguson in the slot again, this time shaking a tackle before dashing for the score:

<embed src='http://admin.brightcove.com/destination ... player.swf' bgcolor='#FFFFFF' flashVars='allowFullScreen=true&initVideoId=1136293563&servicesURL=http://www.brightcove.com&viewerSecureGatewayURL=https://www.brightcove.com&cdnURL=http://admin.brightcove.com&autoStart=false' base='http://admin.brightcove.com' name='bcPlayer' width='486' height='412' allowFullScreen='true' allowScriptAccess='always' seamlesstabbing='false' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/dow ... h'></embed>

The Lobos wrapped up the game's scoring with a 12yd TD pass to WR Marcus Smith with 2:13 left in the game, for a 6-35 final:

New Mexico 28
Arkansas St 14

The mid-season showdown so far, with 3-0 New Mexico visiting to 4-0 Arkansas State....

This game can be summed up by two things: two long sustained TD drives by the Lobo's, and a tight defense against everything that Seminole's Indians threw at them. Turnovers were fairly low between the teams (3 total, all INT's) but the deciding factor was defense. The Indians only managed 73 total yards of offense, all passing yards, while the Lobos compiled 237 total yards. Another telling stat was 3rd down % (5-9, vs 1-6), although four of those five conversions were on one single drive..... more on that in the details:

New Mexico started the game with the ball, and produced a 10 play, 60 yard TD drive to open up things, highlighted by two long catches (20/22yds) by TE Chris Mark. Nothing much else happened the rest of the 2nd half other than multiple injuries inflicted on the Lobo's, including starting QB Donovan Porterie, and a missed FG by the Lobos from only 37yds at the end of the half.

In the 3rd, after forcing the Indians to punt, backup QB Bryan Clampitt connects with WR Travis Brown on a 39yd TD pass play to go up 14-0.

<embed src='http://admin.brightcove.com/destination ... player.swf' bgcolor='#FFFFFF' flashVars='allowFullScreen=true&initVideoId=1136242504&servicesURL=http://www.brightcove.com&viewerSecureGatewayURL=https://www.brightcove.com&cdnURL=http://admin.brightcove.com&autoStart=false' base='http://admin.brightcove.com' name='bcPlayer' width='486' height='412' allowFullScreen='true' allowScriptAccess='always' seamlesstabbing='false' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/dow ... h'></embed>

Later in the 3rd, after pinning the Lobo's on their own 9yd line with a perfect punt, the Indians get their first score of the game on a INT run into the endzone due to the short field.

The Lobo's, now only up one score @ 14-7, rattle off their 2nd long drive of the game, this time in 12 plays for 78yds, including four 3rd down conversions. The play started at the end of the 3rd QTR, and by the time it was over, only 2 minutes remained the game, with the Lobo's having a 21-7 lead.

Arkansas State, having to force things a bit with time running out and their offense still not producing any scores, goes into hurry up/no huddle but the Lobo's adjust with an audible (cover 2 zone) and leave a CB in the flat. This crushing blow by CB Deandre Wright gives the Lobo's a 28-7 lead with his 60yd INT return for a TD.
<embed src='http://admin.brightcove.com/destination ... player.swf' bgcolor='#FFFFFF' flashVars='allowFullScreen=true&initVideoId=1136293564&servicesURL=http://www.brightcove.com&viewerSecureGatewayURL=https://www.brightcove.com&cdnURL=http://admin.brightcove.com&autoStart=false' base='http://admin.brightcove.com' name='bcPlayer' width='486' height='412' allowFullScreen='true' allowScriptAccess='always' seamlesstabbing='false' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/dow ... h'></embed>

On the ensuing kickoff, the Indians managed to get on the board again, this time with special teams, returning the kick 94yds for the score. They failed to recover the onside kick, and with only a minute remaining, the Lobo's were able to run out the clock and move to 4-0 in the conference.

Great game Seminole.

The 4-0 Indians felt pretty good going into their game with the New Mexico Lobos. They knew it might be their toughest test of the year but felt the home field crowd could help them out.

They were wrong!!

New Mexico got the ball and went on a drive that seemed like an eternity, Using most of the first quarter clock and getting 7 while they were at it. This drive set the tone for the whole game.

A tenacious Lobo defense shut down the potent Indian Offense. The only Indian scores came from the D and the Special Teams.

Here is a pass thrown into coverage and it was intercepted and returned for a score to cut the game to 14-7
<embed src='http://admin.brightcove.com/destination ... player.swf' bgcolor='#FFFFFF' flashVars='allowFullScreen=true&initVideoId=1136242523&servicesURL=http://www.brightcove.com&viewerSecureGatewayURL=https://www.brightcove.com&cdnURL=http://admin.brightcove.com&autoStart=false' base='http://admin.brightcove.com' name='bcPlayer' width='486' height='412' allowFullScreen='true' allowScriptAccess='always' seamlesstabbing='false' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/dow ... h'></embed>

Coach Seminole though this might provide a spark to his offense too, but the D came back on the field and gave up a grueling 12 play, 4:21 minute drive for 7 that put them out for the count. The Lobos were awesome on 3rd downs on this drive completing on 4 of them.
When the Offense returned they were as flat as before and found themselves forcing passes and very desperate for even a yard.

The 2nd Indian TD came way of kick return that was too little too late. This was the returners first touch of the game as XboxJon had been kicking away from him.

The Indians fall to 4-1 and hope to re-group soon. Jon, good game bro! You brought it and were prepared for what I had. I guess all my little videos may have hurt me in the long run LOL. I could not get ANYTHING going. The lopsided time of possesion was 15:34 to 8:30. CRAZY!! Jon, I was really impressed with the way you held onto the ball and just ran time and more time off the clock. It turned out that really hurt me.

Great game!

What's really weird is that those long drives like that are not my normal M.O. Typically, I'm a big-play type of offense (check some of the previous videos) and those two drives in our game were my longest, by far, of the season (both in number of plays, and time off the clock).

I think that it just shows that you played really good defense too, making me earn it by getting alot of 1st downs instead of giving up a huge play. More of a bend but don't break type of defense that I haven't seen yet. One play here or there in those two long drives and I would have been forced to punt or try a long FG, and the game may have been totally different.

Yea, totally agree except I couldn't stop a damn third down conversion. It was bend and don't break, until you got to the redzone then I did backflips ;) LOL
