Does anybody know how to set up an online game with settings that you A.) know what they are and/or B.) can adjust? Is there any way outside of doing the lobby thing?

Ugh, 2K really, really needs to either try out some other sports games online or maybe hire someone in that department that isn't insane. Same goes for the whole menu system.

I believe that things are different with MLB. The NFL former players are on their own but MLB former players are covered by a different organization.

I can't set up ANY games with my one buddy that I play online with regularly. Something is jacked up in the game and I don't know what it is. I hopped into a quick match and played a lag-free game without any issues whatsoever. Just can't play my bro-in-law for some reason. He could hop in a random match and play as well...so it really makes no sense.

Set up a Custom game which allows you to change game options and settings (Xbox Live -> Online Desk -> Online Options -> Custom Match). Then back out to Xbox Live menu and go to Game Modes -> Play a Friend and invite him to your Custom game.

That doesn't seem to work for me. I changed my 'custom game' settings in the online desk to 6 minute quarters and All-Pro difficulty and made sure to save, but when I do the 'play with friend' game it immediately sends me to the friends list to send an invite, and the game ends up with 5 minute quarters and Pro difficulty.

So indeed it seems, just like the 2K hoops games, that the settings you save in the custom game of the online desk apply when you are in the custom lobby and make a challenge. One thing that's sort of cool is you can adjust sliders for custom games, again just like the hoops games where it's fully necessary as far as I'm concerned for the fouls. So, the 'invite friend' game is pretty much useless for me, and I'll have to meet my matchup in the custom lobby. No biggie. I'm sure for seasons and tourneys, you can set sliders and all manner of game settings as well.

Which reminds me; Danimal, did you set up the tournament to disallow created players, or is that something automating that you can't change? I'd love to use my created Riggins in season or tourney action in the future. . . .

Finally started my season and lost 14-12 in my first game, missed two extra points and a FG. Damn this kicking is going to take some getting used to. :?

By the time I figured out what would work and what wouldn't against my opponent, it was too late. Passing looks so real and with Steve Young as my QB, he plays just like his real counterpart did all those years. I also had a blocked FG late in the game to give me one last chance at winning the game... haven't done that in video game football in years.

I don't know about picking up Madden now, since NCAA will get some of the little playing time I have as well as APF.

Anyone just seeing images of highlights during the halftime show as opposed to full video in offline games? I recall this being a problem with other 2K sports games with some people, but I forgot what the workaround was.

I tried holding "a" to clear the cache, but that didn't seem to work.

I checked out the tournament start options, and 'allow created players' is indeed one of them and by default it is off. Also, you can change any and all game settings, including quarter length etc., as well as change the difficulty sliders and so on.

Is it full yet? I was mentioning to Toper yesterday that he should join up and gave him the sepcs, but I don't know if he has yet.

I haven't check today, but as of yesterday we still needed one. I sent this to a single elim tourney because I had no idea it would take this long to fill an 8 person tourney.

I can jump in it if you guys would like. Single elimination means it's only one game for me. LOL. I didn't know you guys were that hard up for one guy.

Like I mentioned above, I've been having trouble with one of my friends, but I can play randoms no problem. Still don't know what the F is going on with that.

Looks like someone named Toper got the last spot DB.

Anyway I generated the tree, you have 7 days to play your 1st round game

Slumber I've got you first up.

I'm hoping this tourney and Mp in general get my dwindling interest back. I just rushed for 451 yards in a season game with Earl Campbell. Through 5 games he has 1351 yards.

Played a pick up game with Zlax last night and I'm not sure how he felt about it, but I was pretty bored. It was a contest in who is going to score last because we can't stop your legend.

Dan Marino was putting up passing yards on my defense like he was droping lbs on NutriSystem. I got lucky and stoped him once or twice. where as Barry Sander was unstopable, I was running simple dives and slants and he was breaking all sorts of big runs. I stopped counting but at one point he had 308 yards and we were still in the 4th.

I certainly hope all online games don't go that route.

They sure dont. Earl Campbell put up 24 yds against Zep...In fairness I dont really play the game much because Im favoring NCAA and his Riggins creation did fare much better ....though not anywhere to the tune of 300.

What I really didnt like in our game was the way one of his defenders dove twice on the same dive.

Yeah I see that a lot offline, it looks real funny in the replays. The guy dives he is almost on the turf and then he flies back into the air to grab ahold of the runner.

Yeah it's like he's subject to capillary action, you know, what makes water soak up into a sponge, defying gravity. As long as that one had touches that one foot or ankle, he'll draw right up the leg to the hips and make the tackle, defying gravity.

Dove twice? Can you play the Mexican national soccer team in this game?

Z's Lose In Tourney Opener, 17-14

Post by Zeppo »

I guess i'll post this here:

Leadfoot's San Diego squad came from 7-0 down and scored 17 unanswered points in the 2nd half to defeat the Zs 14-17. Slingin' Sammy Baugh's offense was stopped twice, two too many times it turned out, and the Montana led SD team did not have to punt the entire game.

With 2:30 to go, SD's Del Greco hit a short FG to put the home side ahead 17-7, but Baugh led the Zs down the field to get one more score. The key play on the drive was a deep post to Ricky Sanders, but he could only tip the ball as he was being hammered by the safety, and somehow Bobby Mitchell snuck in behind and was able to get a handle on the tipped ball and take it to the one yard line. Hurrying to the line, Baugh zipped a quick post to secure the score and set up the ever exciting onside kick attempt that would determine the outcome of the game. Unfortunately for the Zs, the kick wasn't a good one, didn't pop up very high, and was fielded by Leadfoot's men easily to end all hope of a visiting team comeback.

Great game, Leadfoot. That was pretty fun. That drive where i was sacked twice in a row turned out to be the difference, I think, since I noticed in the stats you were 5-7 on 3rd down, with one missed FG and the one you made. I guess splitting my start players evenly between offense and defense isn't the best strategy! I ended up with 18 passes and 7 runs, and thanks to that one long run on 3rd down on my desperation drive, my man had a fat 6+ yard average.

Good luck in the next round against Kruza!

Yep, it was a good game, and thanks for the great writeup!

Good review, sums up my exact thoughts on the game.

How many death threats have you gotten so far from giving it a 7? LOL
