Also, for guys having trouble in the kicking game: it's not just the timing of the stick and the accuracy, but the speed at which you slam the stick forward. So you have to hit it on time, straight, and hard as hell. I can boot 40+ yard FG's with tons of room to spare now, and with a generic kicker I can kick to around the 5 yard line almost every time on kickoffs..
I didn't know that it took the speed of the stick into account at first...that's the power. It's not a golf swing where it's all timing based.

Tip for on the fly audible is based on the PS3 version, so I'm assuming on the 360 you would have to press the LB + Y. Here's a few tidbits.
/Del
Right Stick Jukes and "on the fly" Audibles #1331
Since these features are not mentioned in the manual. Here's a few tidbits for the Right Stick Juke(RSJ) junkies, and how to use "on the fly" audibles.
ON The Fly Audibles:
Hold down the Left Trigger and select a face button(At the playcall screen) I.e. L2 thn X you should here a swish sound, release the LS + X and now press the face button corresonding to the play you like to audible to. You must enter each audible the same way and you get up to 3 per play.
RSJ Moves:
Stutter: = up
Jab = up then Left(Lt) or Right (Rt)
Jab Spin = up then Roll Lt or Rt
Stop = down
Stop & Go = down then up
stop & spin = down then roll Lt or RT
Stop Jab = down then Lt or Rt
Double Juke = Lt or Rt (vice versa)
Juke & Spin Same Side = Rt. then roll down then roll Rt.
Juke & Spin Side to side = Rt. or Lt. then roll to other side
Jab Stop = Rt or Lt. then down
Jab Juke = Rt then Rt or Lt then Lt
Just in case you forgot, you know you doing them right, check out the You tube vid of RSJ in 2K5

Is no one else seeing really brain dead DB AI at times? It is not as bad as 2K5, but man I see at least 4 or 5 plays a game that piss me off. The conrer route is still a money play against the AI, I can't believe they didn't fix that.
If your QB breaks contain you can easily draw in the CB and drop one over there heads because the safeties don't get over to help out. If you have a scrambling QB you can eat up yards doing this.
Anyway it's not enough to make me stop playing like it was in 2K5, but that Thomas guy on the gamespot thing made such a big deal about how they improved their DB AI, I'm sorry I just don't see it.
On the positive note I actually lost a game on legend in my season mode, 10-7 so that was nice not to rack up tons of yards by barry. Of course the CPU team had 5 gold star legends on their team so it's not like it was a fai match up either.

It's only a problem if it happens all of the time. I can show you 5 plays in any NFL game where there is a breakdown in the secondary. Unfortunately I can point one out from the last Super Bowl which led the Bears to totally change what they had been doing up to that point and pull the linebackers into coverage.

There is a difference between a secondary breakdown and some of the garbage thats been in 2K football games. I've never once seen a DB in the NFL look at a receiver while the ball is in the air to him, then decide to run around in a small circle while both the receiver and ball zip past him. Thats not a "breakdown" its just stupid.ScoopBrady wrote:It's only a problem if it happens all of the time. I can show you 5 plays in any NFL game where there is a breakdown in the secondary. DB AI in the 2K games has been a huge issue. There is no way to make excuses for that. For some its not that big of a problem. For me, its a deal breaker. It was in 2K5 and it is for All Pro as well.

If I ran a conrer route all the time it would happen all the time. Try it you'll see. I bet you complete 90% of the conrner routes you throw during a game.ScoopBrady wrote:It's only a problem if it happens all of the time. Plus a break down in coverage is one thing, running by a ball carrier or playing a 3 deep zone and standing still why a wideout runs right by you is something else all together.

Fair enough. I just wanted to mention that breakdowns happen in football all the time. I personally don't have a problem with it but can understand why some do. I'm having close and competitive games and don't feel like I can pick apart the other team with the pass. I'll never try the 'run the same type of play over and over' thing again. I started doing that with Gameday many years ago when there was a rushing game issue and realized that I had much more fun just playing the game than I did running experiments.Danimal wrote:If I ran a conrer route all the time it would happen all the time. Why not, that's part of football! I was wandering down memory lane as I was trying to build John Riggins, and read a nice piece about the NFC Championship game in the 82/83 season. WE WANT DALLAS, and all that. I remember many things about that game very well, but one thing that stuck out was that after Darryl Grant's interception and waddle into the endzone, the next time they got the ball, the Redskins ran the same run play nine times in a row. The linemen were even telling the D-line what they were doing, it didn't matter. Nine times in a row. Sometimes, that's football. If a game has a problem adjusting to something like that, it's a massive problem. Of course, the Cowboys couldn't stop it, either!ScoopBrady wrote: I'll never try the 'run the same type of play over and over' thing again.

I have to say I am kind of offended by that. I don't sit there and run experiments to see whats broken. I have played close to 30 games of APF with 10 minute quarters. Playing that many games I notice things. I don't see anything wrong with pointing out pervceived issues.
For instance there is a lot of strange penalty logic in the game that even cost me a game once.
I was driving and had a final play with 5 second on the clock and threw a hail mary because I was just outside of field goal range for the tie. My QB was hit late which was a 15 yard penalty. I accepeted and the game ended. Those 15 yards put me in field goal range but I didn't get another play.
Should I keep that tom myself? I'm just noting things I see because perhaps the above would be a problem for someone who hasn't bought the game yet.
I can tell you this, if you like football games you should at least rent APF it's an excellent game. It doesn't do everything right, but what game does. I certainly wouldn't be on game 30 of something I didn't enjoy.

That's just unacceptable. Having problems with player interaction, player AI, playcalling, ball physics, etc. etc, OK. But not getting the rules right is just plain lazy and second rate. Maybe this is part of the 'not NFL rules' scare they put into us a while ago? Sheesh.Danimal wrote: I was driving and had a final play with 5 second on the clock and threw a hail mary because I was just outside of field goal range for the tie. Outs seem to work almost every time too.Sully wrote:I'm Public Enemy #1 on the OS boards for stating the exact same thing.Danimal wrote:Is no one else seeing really brain dead DB AI at times? Danimal, I didn't mean to offend you. I'm just stating how it made me feel when I did that in Gameday. I was literally running the ball on every play and writing down how many yards I got on each run. I'm not trying to imply that's what you are doing. Sorry you took it that way.

I like the demo so far. Maybe it's because it feels like an eternity since I fired up an NFL 2k football game. Definitly a different feel than NCAA, which was expected.. but a good thing nonetheless.
I'm sure I'll get this at some point as I don't think the $60 price tag will last very long.
Another year of development and I think we'll see a much more in-depth game.

Im realy liking the demo also i just love the pocket and stepping up in it to throw a subtle thing i never noticed before in a football game.
I know you guys mentioned it but seeing is believing.
Running game seems good also i had craig and was never able to get more than 5 yards a carry but i like how the Coaches call a lot of run plays.
Digging the demo may have to wait for a price drop tho as im very casual on Football.

Someone named "Admonish" posted this over at OS:
"Estimated 1st Week Sales:
according to video game chartz APF sold...
xbox-360: 54,231 units
PS3:16,574 units
For comparison sake, here are sales numbers from other 1st week games on the xbox 360
NCAA 08: 361,541
The Bigs: 28,747
DiRT 55,715
Transformer the game: 72,345
Overlord: 69,014
...not bad when you compare it to other non-football games. we'll see if APF has any legs."
Like I said over there, under the circumstances, I don't think those are bad numbers at all. Hopefully the timing of the demo, and the fact that football season is still months away at this point, will give the game some legs through the fall and then Christmas seasons.
I do wonder how these numbers (if accurate) compare to the sales numbers of the old 2k football games, before they went to the reduced price point? I'd bet 2k has picked up some customers between then and now.
The game's not perfect, but I love the feeling I get everytime I move the chains...I had a couple of great 13 and 17 play drives against the Atlanta Wasps (led by Jeff Hostetler and Roger Craig) in my season last night and can't wait to play some more when I get home tonight. I haven't even been online with the game yet, but if anyone will be on PS3 and wants to get in a game this evening, please lemme know. I also still need to make a team of true Steeler greats, for whenever I do make it online.
