as far as rules, I would be all for team specific playbooks. Gives incentive to learn your team.
Also, I would like to keep Arkansas State. I could get a worse draw LOL.

Well, I played a game as North Texas and it was an immediate ESPN classic. I guess I'll keep them even though they hardly run anything with the qb under center. I'm keeping them so I can open up my style of play and try to adapt to a new kind of team. It was interesting primarily running out of the shotgun.
I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.
My time is water down a drain.

Oh, and this is how we will preliminarily set up the season...divide us into two divisions, and every team plays the team in their division once. Then at the end, there will be a "bowl game" for everyone, where 1st place in the eastern division plays 1st place in the western division, 2nd plays 2nd, etc. Tiebreakers will be head-to-head competition.
First redraw is tonight, so please let me know what you want. Final redraw is tomorrow (Tuesday) night. If I hear nothing from you re: team preference after all three draws, then you need to let me know that you still want to play.

As to playbooks, my opinion is that any restrictions are unnecessary. I don't see the benefit of limiting people's choices when it comes to playbooks, and further I don't see how it could be enforced at all.
Also, Seminole, I don't think it's appropriate for anyone to be stating rules and regulations except for Jared, who is the one running the league. State your opinion of what you think he should set the rules to be, fine, but try to keep from stating your preferences as if they were Jared's rules. Jared has already stated that "IF, in our ratings division, there is a team that you really want to play with, PM me or post here and we can probably accomodate (sic) you." He may have changed his mind on that, and sure, we can discuss it if it becomes a problem, but I don't think he needs help stating the rules by which he wants to run the league.

LOL,!Well it was pretty much stated that there was no option to choose and a draw and a redraw is just that ,a redraw. I wish I could've had a MAC team from Ohio but I will take my chances with Ark St instead of risk getting a team that I wouldn't want at all.listBoltman wrote:You tell him!![]()
I'm curious to see who I get in the redraw.
edit: Also Boltman, I dont think I have you on my friends list.

Hey I'm just trying to make sure people don't get confused. When Jared says, "People can re-draw if they don't like a team, or ask for a specific team if they have a strong desire to play with them," I don't think it's right for someone else, who isn't running the league, to make pronouncements such as, "There is no option to choose your team."dbdynsty25 wrote:Multiplayer God has spoken. Wow Zep, are you serious?
I too am not sure how to force playbooks (the old games used to show what playbook a player chose) I guess I just thought most of you were grown enough to be honest. As far as it not making a difference, sure it does. Nearly every playbook is different and it will force you learn and get familiar with your team. Also to not have to use their playbook then guys could just use their favorite teams playbook that they use and know, and to me that is not realistic at all.
As far as teams go, the vote was for B-/C+ and RANDOM. So how is picking a team random, how is it fair that a few guys get to pick and others do not. Further more, how do you know that I didn't talk to Jared? I posed the question to him about picking a team or redraw and he said redraw.

Actually, as Zeppo already stated, Jared did say that it was a possibility. But obviously you and boltman would have a problem with me not redrawing...so, as I stated in my original post, "If anyone doesn't mind..", I will take a redraw.SEMINOLE wrote:There is no option to choose your team. You tell me where that says ANYTHING about picking a team or PM'ing him with a request. That was quick. First random draw is done. Message if you want to keep your team or not. If you don't message, you will be redrawn. If you don't message after the redraw, you won't have a team. You have until Sunday evening to decide on the team you want.
Also, if you still want in on the league, there are still slots available....we can draw from the unclaimed teams

after reading a post from Jared a few pages back you guys are correct. He did say something about PM'ing with a preference. So I guess there is my problem, are we playing random or are we picking from the list? I guess if that is the way then we should be done by now and playing. If you didn't get who you wanted just pick one.

Wow Seminole, I am serious!
Letting people use the playbook they want is something I personally don't have a problem with. Your opinion clearly differs. Personally I have never found EA's playbooks to be what I would consider 'realistic,' but if team specific playbooks is a rule that most of the league want to use, and Jared decides to implement that as a rule, I know for myself I am 'grown' enough to abide by it.
As to team choices, I prefer we leave those decisions up to Jared, since he's the one putting in the time and trouble to run the league. As I stated earlier, and again I was serious about it, I think it's fine for people to present their opinions and preferences about how they think the league should be run, but I do not think it is appropriate for people other than Jared to try to lay down the law with authoritative pronouncements about rules for the league, particularly when those rules are in opposition to things Jared has stated in the past in this thread.

Listen, guys....no big deal. Forgot I even made the earlier post. I thought this was all about having fun? No? It's not like I have a digital boner for Tulsa anyway. If anyone has kept up with the Arkansas drama you would know our former off cord left for Tulsa after one year and I liked the guy. So, I thought it would be kinda cool to play as Tulsa.
Jared, I am sorry I caused this, I didn't keep up with this thread over the weekend and saw your post about requesting a team...so I did so. It was that innocent.

you just read that post all wrong, it not like I was being a forum d*ck. I was trying to state nicely that I was under the impression everything was drawn. Remember our conversation the other day while playing......just misinterpretation bro
Again, hence the reason I asked in page 1 I believe how the drawing/random would take place. I guess I don't see the point in random draws if allowing people to pick from that list. Oh well.
Maybe you are right about playbooks too, but my thinking was that this would give guys incentive to LEARN their team. Learn and familiarize themselves with the players and playbooks. I guess I am out in left field on this one. I guess if there is no way to enforce or see what playbook is chosen then it won't matter.
Jared, sorry for all this. Lets just get things going and have some fun. I am really excited about this and hope the interest stays high and it is successful.

OK. Here is the RULE regarding choosing teams after the 1st draw:
You are allowed to choose from one of the teams that haven't been picked IF you are:
a) an alumnus of one of the schools on the list
b) live in the area of one of the teams on the list
c) were born in the area of one of the teams on the list
d) You are a fan of one of the teams on the list
Since most leagues don't have crappy teams, this allows someone who is, for example, a Louisiana Lafayette alum, to actually play with their team. I figure that this is fair, and will let you play with a local team that you like that you normally wouldn't get a chance to play with. What I don't want is people picking a team from the list because they're the top rated of the B- teams, or have a stud at a skill position, or something like that.
Does that make sense? And does it seem fair? Truth, I'm fine with you taking Tulsa...it's sort of a strange version of D above. JonDiehl, let me know if any of the above fit with New Mexico. If so, you can have them.
If anyone wants to pick teams that aren't already assigned from the list for the reasons above, let me know.
And again. 2nd redraw tonight, final redraw tomorrow (Tuesday) night.
Oh, and as for playbooks, I suggest using the playbook for your team. I am aware that this is unenforcable, and it is your personal choice. But it may be more fun to do that, so I strongly suggest that.

Seminole, of course this is all getting way overblown. I enjoy playing online with you and enjoy our conversation a lot. Tone is difficult to read in an internet forum.
Just because I disagree with your opinion on some subject such as what playbook rules we should have does not mean that I think your opinion is not valid, and it certainly doesn't mean your ideas are from way out in left field. You have your opinion, and I'm sure you have reasons that back up that opinion. Fair enough. I happen to disagree with you on this particular matter, and I have reasons why my opinion is what it is. Neither opinion is necessarily right or wrong.

Ok, given these rules, then I'd like to select Temple, as I went there for 2 years before transferring to Pittsburgh. Kind of a mix of a & d.Jared wrote:OK. Here is the RULE regarding choosing teams after the 1st draw:
