For the record, I didn't mean to advocate for an entirely randomly selected field, I just was saying that I wanted a team randomly selected for myself, but I have no problem letting everyone else pick their team.
In fact, if we do a limited group of teams, such as only B or B- or only C or C-, I could pick a team from that list. Unlike with the WE league, the random here isn't about trying to be fair (not that many teams in WE and so much variation among them, difference of quality), it's about saving me the mental energy of having to make up my mind. With a limited group of teams, it becomes a much easier decision for me.

You are aware that Jared is not only in the league, but actually the one setting it up and putting in the work, no?JackB1 wrote:If we are allowed to pick our own teams, I would like to be in with U of FL.
To me, it's much more fun if you can play as your favorite team. Everyone getting a random team that they don't care about doesn't sound as good to me.

The front page is updated with preferences that I have so far. Currently, there are 5 votes for random, 2 votes for choose, and there are 6 votes for B or lower, and 1 vote for all teams.
Post if your preference hasn't been heard, or if you still want to sign up. Also, you are free to bail from the league if you don't like the final setup re: team choice.
I'll look at the teams tonight and see how many teams are in each tier, and then decide based on that (my guess is that we'll go w/B- or C teams, but I want to see how many teams are in each ratings pod before deciding).
Also, for those that are interested in self-selecting A teams, IF this league is successful in it's 1st season, we can always do a 2nd season like that, depending on everyone's interests.
Oh...if anyone can find a list of team ratings online for NCAA 08, that would help...I've only been able to find ratings for NCAA 07.

Meaning, as an alumn, Jared would obviously have first dibs on them.JackB1 wrote:So?Zeppo wrote:You are aware that Jared is not only in the league, but actually the one setting it up and putting in the work, no?JackB1 wrote:If we are allowed to pick our own teams, I would like to be in with U of FL.

I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.

I didn't know that was the "rule"? If 2 people want the same team, then some "fair" system of determining who gets them should be devised. Then again, knowing how you and Jared feel about me, I wouldn't expect anything "fair".ScoopBrady wrote:Meaning, as an alumn, Jared would obviously have first dibs on them.JackB1 wrote:So?Zeppo wrote: You are aware that Jared is not only in the league, but actually the one setting it up and putting in the work, no?
I'm in, and if we choose I'd take Arizona as usual. Unfortunately they're a pretty low-tier team these days so I think the choice might hold in just about any non-random format. No preference on league structure otherwise, but whatever it is hope we keep the number of games manageable. If it can be implemented, I really liked that old format we had with the SportsReviewers league many years ago, with polls and the slate of fake bowl games.

Quit whining about not being treated fair on these forums. On most other forums with some level of moderation, you would have been banned a while ago. Keep this behavior up, and you WILL be banned. If you have a problem with our moderation, complain to me in a PM or in a separate thread, NOT this one.
As for the team selection, it is likely moot because the votes look like we're going with random, B or lower teams. But if the voting changes, we'll come up with a fair way to pick chosen teams.
Jack, get over it.JackB1 wrote: I didn't know that was the "rule"? If 2 people want the same team, then some "fair" system of determining who gets them should be devised. Then again, knowing how you and Jared feel about me, I wouldn't expect anything "fair".
I love you man, you know that, but honestly it's a bit rich for you to say that a league where people can't get their specific team of choice wouldn't be fun for you, and then for you to claim it would be particularly unfair to you (but to whom else, I ask) if there weren't a way you could get a team that just happens to be the alma matter of the guy who's not only gone to the trouble to set up this league (a thankless task if ever there was one), but also to set up this whole freaking place for us to come and b*tch about sports games, shooters, politics, and most of all, each other. If you were oblivious to the fact that Jared has a particularly valid association with that school, then so be it, it's not like it's a big secret, but whatever. Now you're going on about how Jared and Scoop don't like you, and thus can't be fair? That's a cheap shot no matter how you cut it, pal.

Little touchy, are we? I can't think of anything more fair than first come first serve Jack. Are you going to try and say Zep has a problem with you too since he was the one who brought it up? And you have no idea how I feel about you so quit trying to be a drama queen. If Zeppo started a Madden league I wouldn't come into the thread days later asking to be the Redskins. If db started a MLB league I wouldn't come in days later asking to be the Braves. That's all that was being said here Jack.JackB1 wrote:I didn't know that was the "rule"? Forgive me, but I didn't know that it was "understood" that Jared has UofF. If the thread said "first come-first served" then I will have to abide by that, but I don't remember seeing that....correct me if I'm wrong. And no, I would never have a problem with Zep, as he is one of the fairest, friendliest, diplomatic guys on DSP.ScoopBrady wrote:Little touchy, are we? Zep, I honestly didn't know Jared had any affiliation with FL. I have never been in any NCAA leagues and didn't remember anything relating Jared & FL from the past. Secondly, I don't think I am at the top of either Scoop or Jared's Christmas card lists. I understand that a lot of that is my own fault, but what are you gonna do.Zeppo wrote: Jack, get over it.

I undertstand that everyone can't possibly get the team of their choice.
But, it's not really fun for me if I can't play as the team that I like and am familiar with. That's fine, Jared has the Gators. Have fun guys!

You know Jack, this is a warning. Quit playing the martyr around here. You say that you know for fact how I feel about you but you have no clue.JackB1 wrote:Forgive me, but I didn't know that it was "understood" that Jared has UofF. Just because we've had disagreements and exchanged unpleasantries in some OT BS threads does not mean that I don't like you. I am fully capable of disagreeing with somebody or saying things in the heat of the moment that would probably have been better left unsaid and maintaining a solid relationship with that person. Last time I checked I've been married for 8 years.
I can't help but notice that you responded to my post first despite the fact that Zeppo's was made first. That seems to me as if you were looking for my response just itching to go at it with me. You can also see a totally different way of responding from you despite the fact that we both said pretty much the same thing. Including quotes around selected words and phrases such as "understood" and "first-come-first-served" also highlights your disdain, and lack of respect, towards me. I don't recall using quotes in any of my replies to you to set that as the overall tone yet you feel the need to do it. I find it hard to believe that you are unaware that using the quotes in your responses is coming off in a negative light. Hell, I've done the same thing on the forums.
I also can't help the fact that I assumed you knew a little bit about the members of this forum, especially the guy in charge of the whole place, considering you've been hanging out here for a while.
I find it ironic that you behave in the exact same manner as the person you are constantly complaining about. You just don't do it as often. I'd be more than happy to continue this conversation in a pm if you'd like. And so you don't think I'm making that suggestion so I can "get the last word in" (beating you to the punch) feel free to make a reply here and I'll continue it in a pm. Otherwise let's get this thread back on track.

I find it ironic that you didn't to post this overblown, personally directed response in a pm. Sorry Jack, but you need to take a break from the forums. Ban length will be at my discretion.Jared wrote: Jack,
