DSP NCAA League (XBox 360) signup and discussion thread

Hi,

Since response to the game has been pretty positive so far, I figure we should start a league for the 360. Please post if you're interested in being in the league. If so, please vote on the following

1) Random teams or self-chosen teams
2) All teams available or just teams under a certain threshold (for example, B-).

Below is the list of people that have expressed interest in the league. My original post didn't ask for votes...so if you have a question mark next to your name, I don't know your preference. PM me or post to let me know. It looks like we're leaning towards random, B/C teams, but feel free to vote. Or, feel free to sign up to play if you haven't.

We will do divisions and league setup after we decide on the questions above. Please vote on this by tonight (Friday). After we get those choices, we'll start setting up teams (either by random draw or preference).

Also note that Friday night is not the deadline for signing up...it's just the deadline for voting on league structure.

I would love to be in this, I seem to suck online though so I will be heading up the cellar . I would like Florida State please

Edit: I would be up for an all C or B with randomly drawn teams. My question would be how do you randomly assign them though?

Oh, and one more thing. I did ask for team preferences, but a few suggestions that have come to me include a) random team selection or b) team selection only under a certain level (e.g. B- teams and below). So, along with your team preference IF we are picking, also let me know if you prefer the following:

A) Choose your own team, no limits
B) Choose your own team, with limits based on team ratings
C) Random team selection (likely from a group of evenly matched teams)

I will take a randomly selected team. I would love to do a C or C- only league, but I fully understand that that is likely just something odd about me!

Actually, i'm more likely to reject teams I don't like (Clemson? Ohio St.? Miami? no thanks, and I'm sure there are more) then I am to have any success trying to pick a team I want.

I'd like to challenge Seminole for the celler, so I'm in.

Big question though. I can only get on-line after 9PM Pacific time, so if that precludes me from participating, I understand.

My preference is Pittsburgh, though Option C would be my vote if we went away from no limits...

What about weekends? Any chance of earlier games on weekends?

I'm in and would prefer a random team select like zeppo does in his league.

I'd also like to know the schedule, last years league never finished. I had a lot of guys on my schedule who never appeared online after signups etc.

Either way I would like to try it.

As for teams, I don't care how people pick them, since a lot of people (myself included) have attachments to teams whether they're fantastic or crappy. A good player who knows his "C" team inside and out can be surprisingly competitive.

It would be fun having scrub teams, an All-C league.

I'm in. If we can choose anyone I will take Iowa, if we need a lower team that is fine too. Will pick that team when needed. Haven't looked to see if the other choices are low or not.

If you guys do this so we can have just one game per week or something along those lines, I'd like to be in.

If we are only C teams as Terry suggested then I need to look at the teams a bit. But if it is any team, I'll go with what I had last year, my UH Warriors.

...Finding time alone and away from WoWwas the problem ...No comment on anything drink related

...The funny part was that I found the other guys...Just wasnt meant to be...

Anyway...Im fine with anything you guys come up with but I lean towards option C.

I'd rather do a tournament since these leagues, outside of the WE ones, never get finished. I'm interested depending on the amount of games in the season. If it's a long season count me out since I really don't think the league would ever finish. I'd have interest in using the Gamecocks.

OK,

Well, it seems like the first question is whether we should have a random draw (mediocre to bad team) league or a you pick league. The votes for preference are in the 1st post in the thread.

So, if I was unable to figure out your preference (self-chosen teams or random teams at a specific rating level), please post or PM what you prefer. We'll decide based on that vote. If I don't hear from you, I will assume no preference.

Also, you can still signup...so feel free to sign up if you haven't (and again, let me know if you prefer random bad team selection or self-choice from all the teams in the game).

IF we go with random teams, we'll likely pick a level (B- teams? C teams? What's your preference?) and I'll just use Excel to do a random draw from the selected pod of teams. As for draw selection, we can use the "Zeppo method" where we do 3 draws, and after each draw, you have the choice of picking that team or drawing again. Or we can do one draw, and you're stuck with that team. Again, post your preference (if you have one).

Also, with this number of teams, we'll likely do a league format with divisions (2 or 3, depending on how many teams sign up). We could do a tourney, but then that leaves half the people out if they lose in the 1st round.

I would like to play no matter which teams we use. If we are choosing from all teams, I guess I would take Texas since my Seminoles are already taken.

I had a good time with what we did last year, even though I did not care for the game. I think it was Bill Abner's league and we all chose B teams or lower...or was it C? Anyway, Bill posted all the teams that fell into that category and we chose from that list. I think I wound up with Kansas State and had a lot of fun playing with them.

Either way is fine with me, but I think if you take the West Virginias and USCs out of the mix it would make for a lot more fun.
