This would be wonderful news if true. Thanks for the link.wco81 wrote:There may yet be hope for the PS3 version of Madden running at 60 fps:

So I talked to Kendall Boyd who is the producer of NCAA 08 on nex gen and I asked him the tough questions.
1. Is there a delay with the PS3 version of NCAA 08?
2. Does the PS3 version run at 30 fps unlike its rivalXBOX 360 that runs at 60 fps.
A1. Ther is no delay, he expects PS3 copies to be delivered in full. He did say earlier that the PS3 may not get to smaller retail stores, but then backed away from that statement and issuing that the PS3 will be sold on time.
A2. The PS3 version of NCAA 08 will be at 30 fps. Although this is a big blow, the Madden Version of PS3 will run at 60 fps.
PS3 Impressions Yes Another One....

I've uploaded Madden game save files to gamefaqs.com. Haven't tried downloading from any site but it should work.
You can try it for yourself. Not necessarily roster files but otherwise game saves:
http://ps3gamesaves.net/downloads.html
You will download it in Safari, unzip it if necessary (right click or hold down Ctrl and click on the .zip file). Then transfer the unzipped files to a USB memory drive (or something like a SD memory card but you'd need a reader to mount it on a Mac).
Then you should be able to read it in the PS3 and copy it to the hard drive. It's a question of whether a particular game encrypts these game save files or not. If not, these operations should just work.
I don't plan to get NCAA myself, at least not until there are some good reviews, because it's always exhibited the worst aspects of EA football. But I will be curious to see if there's easy roster sharing without needing an additional peripheral.

I just found this:

Even though they don't have the game yet, they seem pretty confident in the method I outlined:

On a related note, any ideas on whether blacklover is still doing rosters?
Also, for ease of editing, you hope NCAA supports USB keyboard entry, as the PS2 version did.

Quite frankly, I don't believe a word that comes out of Jack Tretton or Sony's Misinformation Department. It is such a crying shame that Sony has an excellent machine (PS3) that is overpriced and everytime Sony opens their mouth, they stick their foot in it. If they would just shut up, price the machine right, get the freaking games out, they could compete and compete well. It is a shame that such a good machine is being stymied by such an incompetent and arrogant corporation.....sportdan30 wrote:The interviewer said he had spoken to Jack Trenton, and Jack had said that starting next year the PS3 will be "the" main platform for NCAA and Madden. The EA rep basically said that I can't comment on what's discussed behind closed doors and kinda laughed.

I would imagine 07 sales #'s would drive this decision. Also, not sure of the actual impact regardless. It could be developed on the ps3 & the frame rate could still bite on every platform.sportdan30 wrote:I was watching a little of E3 the other day on G4. Nothing would surprise me at this point.
Amen to that, I could not have said it any better.DivotMaker wrote:Quite frankly, I don't believe a word that comes out of Jack Tretton or Sony's Misinformation Department. Yeah I saw this reported yesterday on several sites, that the price cut is while supplies last. I have to say I am astonished, it's hard to not have a general dislike for Sony, it really is.seanmac31 wrote:Eurogamer was confirming that the 60 GB PS3 is going to be discontinued in the US. Way to go with that price cut, Sony. Way to go.
The only plus side the "while supplies last" part should be a long time, probably into the holidays. They have so many unsold units that are lying around in warehouses.

Might be seeing a Ratchet and Clank demo as well this Thursday.

I heard the Heavenly Sword demo may only be for Europe, at least initially.
Odd thing is, they should have the Lair demo earlier since that's releasing earlier than Heavenly Sword.
Oh and no NCAA or APF demo. They've had some 3rd-party demos like Def Jam Icon but there seems to be no rhyme or reason in what they put up there.
Mostly first and second party stuff but not all first and second party stuff.

Wco,
I agree with your assessment regarding their selection of demos they put up on PSN. It doesn't make sense. One would think they'd want to advertise NCAA and APF seeing they were recently released.
Still, it's nice to see some new demos coming down the pipeline. I just wish it were more frequent.

You do have to learn combos and the nuances of the stance but you can beat it using triangle mostly and evading attacks.sportdan30 wrote:Just played "Goddess of War" aka Heavenly Sword. Looks gorgeous, but I think I'm getting too old for button mashing games.
I do miss the dedicated jump from God of War. And in that game, I don't remember having to learn combos so much as jumping in the air to avoid attacks or to use for attacks.
I haven't messed too much with using the motion for jumping in the air yet. Will have to see how that goes. Did they substitute a jump button to support the SIXAXIS?
Like I was saying, I don't remember combos from GoW so much. I think that game relied on using simultaneous button presses and getting new moves/attacks and upgraded weapons over time.
Wonder if we'll get that, new attacks and the sword doing more damage over time.
Warhawk goes GM.

I hope you don't have to do too much FPS mode and instead, you can do a lot of flying or using ground vehicles.
Not sure about paying $40 for a download with no manual. Heavenly Sword demo was 1 GB so how big will this be? If you have a HDD failure, you have to re-download a lot of data, whether or not you have to repay?
But $60 for an online-only game? Who knows how good the Jabra headset is?
Good thing for rentals.
Oh and Lair pushed back from 8/14 to 9/4. Some controversy about leaked early magazine reviews, some with good reviews, some really putting it down for making you use the motion controls for flight.
