He's right Sportsdan because if your not your kissing Sony's ass and spinning positive Sony propaganda the world isn't right for our OS buddy backbreaker.backbreaker wrote:SportsDan, if I were you, I wouldn't get into a pissing contest with these guys. Well these aren't sports games and they're all new IP so they have to prove themselves.
MGS4 would be bigger than any of them and so would FF. So would GTA4, unless the extra content on the X360 is so compelling that people get that version instead -- there were rumors awhile back that they were having difficulties fitting everything they wanted on a DVD disc.

Well, majority rules. I understand that. However, I'm trying to keep an open mind on both consoles. I very well may go back to the 360 down the road, so I'm not a converted hater of MS. I guess I've fallen guilty to trying to warrant my PS3 purchase a little too much. I don't think there's anything wrong with defending Sony when I think they're making the attempt to move in the right direction. I still stand firm in saying I think the Sony exclusives sound more intriguing than MS at the juncture.backbreaker wrote:SportsDan, if I were you, I wouldn't get into a pissing contest with these guys. Anyone heard anything about NFL Tour for both the PS3 and 360? It has a release date slated for the first of '08.

I don't have a link, but IGN had a short preview on it a couple of days ago. The only thing I remember from the preview is that it will be an "arcade-style" NFL football game. In other words, EA is milking the cow for everything it's worth (same as 2k with the Bigs).sportdan30 wrote:Anyone heard anything about NFL Tour for both the PS3 and 360? At least you admit it, too many ps3 owners won't.sportdan30 wrote:Well, majority rules. I understand that. However, I'm trying to keep an open mind on both consoles. If I had bought a ps3 like I almost did a few months ago when The Show was released, I wouldn't be too happy right now with the game selection.

How many quality games does one need in all honesty? I think it was Danimal who admitted he has no idea how he's going to play all the 360 games that are coming down the pipeline.
For me, I'm banking on MLB, crossing my fingers on a playable football game, NBA 2K8, College Hoops2K8, GTAIV, one of the hockey titles, and Unchartered to pull me through to the end of the year. I'll definitely rent Lair, Heavenly Sword, and Singstar among others.
So, while all those titles are not Sony exclusives, there's a lot to choose from and play. I don't need nor want an influx of titles as not only is it costly, but overwhelming. I just don't get why I should be disappointed with Sony at this point. The console hasn't even been out a year.

I guess that depends on a few things:sportdan30 wrote:How many quality games does one need in all honesty? I think it was Danimal who admitted he has no idea how he's going to play all the 360 games that are coming down the pipeline.
1. Your play style, some of us by a lot of games but seldom finish many.
2. Do you use Blue Ray? If you have no intention of watching movies, then is the PS3 filling the bill for you at the cost.
3. How you define quality? The Show is awesome, baseball games sell like s***. So whats the next best game? Motorstorm? I don't need a ton of quality titles, I would like some though.
Who is telling you to be disappointed? But lets flip it, why can't others be disappointed?I just don't get why I should be disappointed with Sony at this point. The console hasn't even been out a year.
Last I checked this was a PS3 impressions thread, not a PS3 praise thread.

I was more or less responding to Todd's post.
In any event, I'm definitely very much enjoying the Blu-ray player. It's amazing that the PQ can get even better than it already is on DVD. However, I did happen to rent "Catch and Release" which happens to be one of the worst movies I've seen in a long long time. "The Prestige" was excellent and "The Freedom Writers" was above average. I wish "Alpha Dog" was out on Blu-ray, but all the same that was a great movie.
We don't need to go down the line again as to what kind of gamer I am. You already have a sense of that.
I've already pointed about the negatives. I'm not saying this console is a 10/10, but it's hardly below average. I won't even go as far to say it's better than the 360 right now, but it's making strides.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion.
The Show is all I wanted in a baseball game and I'm loving watching BR movies.
That's pretty much what I use my PS3 for and I that's more than enough for me right now.
I hope to add to my PS3 library in the near future with a solid basketball and racing game.
So personally, I don't regret my PS3 purchase at all.
That's really all I care about.

Again I must be doing a bad job with my psotings. I was specifically addressing you when I said what kind of gamer you are and if you use Blue Ray. I was addressing your question how many titles does one need, and as i stated it depends on your style.
For right now the Show and Blu Ray are fine for me personally. Now if i didn't own a 360 I would personally be disappointed with my selection but that's just me.

I don't think you're doing a bad job with your postings. I think perhaps I thought it was more towards the general gamer than myself. I should have read it more carefully.Danimal wrote:Sd -

And I agree with you about your last comment regarding The Show and blu-ray.
Either way, I've made my case. I'm sure the majority of the people on here are tired of me rambling on. Thanfully, our exchanges remained civil.
Let's carry on.
Well one upcoming multiplatform game which may be better on the PS3:

The Neon engine used on Dirt was developed with the help of SCEE. But the PS3 version was delayed to optimize for the console.

Right, and if the 360 wasn't offering a comparable graphical experience and a far superior library, that would be a fair point. The 360 had the luxury of being the only game in town, a luxury Sony has foregone by releasing their console significantly later. And it's not like the PS3 is going to make up the deficit on the other end by continuing to pump out content years after the 360 is gone- the PS4 will certainly have to come online at roughly the same time as Microsoft's next Xbox. So you're getting a smaller gaming window with the PS3, and they have a lot of catching up to do, software-wise. I'm sure they will do so in the next 12-18 months and offer a fairly comparable library, minus Gears and Halo and a few other things but with the Sony exclusives.wco81 wrote:How was the game selection on the X360 only 8 months after launch?
On the PS2?
It could always be better but how many first generation games on a console have been that memorable?
I'm just trying to think of the games in the first year.
GRAW was a highlight IIRC but I'm not a fan of FPS games either so I didn't pay too much attention to GRAW or COD2/3.
There is a school of thought that the X360, using better tools and support, have gotten closer to reaching its potential.
By contrast, the PS3 may have some legs and surprises later in its life, comparable to games like God of War and Shadow of the Colussus on the PS2.

Very nice....thanks for the link. Sounds great. Along with GTHD and Burnout Paradise which is being specifically designed for the PS3, there are some very good racing games to look forward to.wco81 wrote:Well one upcoming multiplatform game which may be better on the PS3:

Rumble to return to the Sony controller in September.

It's annoying we now have to purchase a separate controller. Wish it had been included in the first place.

Glad you're happy with your ps3, that is all that matters.
NHL 07 was a factor in purchasing my 2nd 360 and it's nice to know the football games will all be at 60 fps. I am jealous of The Show, but with the patch, MLB 2k7 is getting plenty of playing time. No VGA cable also steered me away from the ps2 as I use a monitor for gaming.
Who knows though, next year I just might have a ps3 in the house as I finally think I'll get a nice HD TV.
