Monday Night Forza (7/2)
OK folks, who's up for another long race tonight? We had a great time last week, we should try to do it agian.
I'm thinking C-Class cars at Laguna Seca for 25 laps. We'd do a 4-lap don't-race-to-win free practice/ warmup session, and then the 25er with a random grid.
10:30 is the time to get together, and we'll start the 4-lap warmup at 10:40 or as soon as the first 7 who sign up are all there. After 10:40, invites will go out to the alternates who sign up after the first 7, but we have to start the warmup by 10:45.
Who's in?
I may have to tweak up a D car or something, because I don't know if I have a useful C-car. Next week I am feeling the hankering for a 5 lapper at the Nordschleife in the A-Class cars. Call me crazy if you want to.
As usual, if we don't have at least 6 cars on the grid, we'll skip the 25er and just do the regular selection of short sprints bouncing around the classes (maybe a 10er in there somewhere if I can convince myself everyone won't hate me for it. . . ).

The same thing happened to fshguy which handed me the win. The funny thing is that fshguy continued to race after he saw us all drop out and still got credited for a win in his "alternate universe" and got the full first place prize money as well.nyisles16 wrote:uggggggggggggghh... I don't know what happened.. lap 9 of the 25 lapper, I hear someone say "oh no", then watch everyone drop out of the game.. I was left alone.. after backing out, couldnt rejoin you guys..

I had this happen to me last weekend. Also have had a couple cases where two people receive first place money when they finish within a few hundredths of each other.mixdj1 wrote:The same thing happened to fshguy which handed me the win. That was a lot of fun. However, the suckiness of this game in the online and racing areas really pisses me off. It was frustrating that we could only get 7 in the room (sorry Will, I forgot your GT was The Praxis. . .
). Terry, Seminole, Slimer, Naples, none could join to fill out the room. Weird.
But it shouldn't be limited to 8 in the first place. We had enough interest to get 12 or 13 cars on the track, but hey, not in Forza. And I think it's pretty lame that you can't set up a full race session online, with practice, where you can tweak your setup (it's really neat in Forza that you can tweak your setup on the fly, when you're offline) and qualifying to set the grid. Oh, and of course they still need that 'how the chekcered flag works' memo over there as well. What makes is so incredibly frustrating to me is that the driving model and the damage and the tires and all that, everything about the driving, is so damn good.
This game should support 16 racers online, end of story. Because of online hiccups, we ended the race with 5 cars. Boreza indeed. Mix and I had some great, great, great racing for about 3 laps or so before I screwed up heading up the hill and kissed the tires on the inside, which spun me. Amazingly, I had no damage, but the only time I saw Mix after that was after he pitted.
'ring next week, or should we stick to something on a more human scale? Are we ready to go with A-class next week?

I say B's next week. I'd like to work my way up systematically. And I'll tell you, I don't really enjoy the R3's at all. Maybe it's because I don't have one that I can tweak, and have to use the ones in the garage, but I just don't like 'em. They're beasts.
The 'ring is cool, but I think only as a steam vent from the long race. I don't want to do a long ring race.

It really pissed me off too, and let me tell you sometimes I feel like it's just not worth the trouble. These kinds of connection issues simply befuddle me. If you're saying it was me that was causing the connection problem, then maybe I shouldn't be the one trying to put these together and run the room.TCrouch wrote:Worst part was, we were already all in a room and just missing you. Then when we left to join the one you created, half couldn't get in. Really, really pissed me off.
Don't think it's you. Has anybody determined what's going on to cause those yet? Doesn't sound like it. I've freed up ports that I found on websites, and it still seems if certain people are in a room there's no way to get in.
The only thing that irked me was that all we needed was for you to join the room that we were all in, since we eventually just got it started since all of us were waiting and you were still in Shadowrun at 10:35 or something. Then instead of joining the room, you created a new one and then all hell broke loose.
But it would all be a moot point if the matchmaking worked and people didn't get failed to connect issues, that's the root of the problem. The only thing is, whenever you create a room you never have a green arrow to join it. I don't know if there's a setting you have that doesn't let ANYBODY in without an invite? I can never join your room unless you throw me an invite. When I left to join yours and it failed, everybody else still had a green arrow to rejoin that lobby, but never yours. I have no idea what's going on there.
