Any 'Sunday Drivers' (casual vid-game racers) left?
A while back (like three years, yeesh!) I ran a 'Sunday Drivers' series for Toca here, which was basically DSP racing for those less hardcore than the topline DSP group. I'm considering picking up and doing the same for Forza 2 for the 360, but I'm not sure how many of those 'Sunday Drivers' guys are left, would be interested, and have (non-bricked) 360s.

Dang it! Go away, you!
I thought the burning pennzoil pentagram and tire iron crucifix would be enough to keep the evil spirits at bay!
If you are new to this idea, you might want to know what qualifies you as a Sunday Driver:
- We'll hit each other, possibly frequently. Not because we are trying to do so, but because we suck. And we're cool with that.
- We probably would never be on the same stretch of track with most of the guys who have already posted impressions on the Forza 2 thread, unless they are lapping us. (Again)
- We know more about pick-up, fishing, or cocaine lines than racing lines
- Telemetry was that class we never took in college
- We have no special custom-built 'racing assembly' to haul out when we play
- And basically, we like racing other players, but haven't the time or skill to make it interesting with the skilled players normally playing the racing games here at DSP.

The nice thing about the p.i. system in the game is that we can self-handicap ourselves in our online get-togethers. At least, the option is there. Remember what we used to do in PGR2, where each race we would step up in class, but the winner of the previous race had to stay in that class? Here in Forza2, it's a possibility all over again, even within classes with the p.i. restrictions. Since all the racing online can be done in career mode, and yet we can still have the big lists of stock cars available, I can see this old Poker Night mode making a big comeback.
The biggest drawback (OK, one of the big drawbacks) is that the damn thing only holds 8 in a room. Lame, lame lame. Lame. Did I mention I think it's LAME? They should be able get 16 in a room EASY with this next-gen stuff, and throw in a party system (OK maybe that's a bad idea what with all the corn-holios out there), but clearly for the Forza team big fields wasn't a priority. It's a real shame, but what ya gonna do?

Count me in for a "Sunday Driver's" thing. I always have a hard time hanging with Zeppo, Terry and the rest of the DSP motorheads on the track, but love the comradery that online racing brings to the table. I have fun no matter who I am racing with, as long as I get someone to race with at some point in the race.

Yep, and it worked fairly well last night when Terry and I took Mini Coopers for the 7 race circuit event when almost everyone else took faster cars. Of course, we ended up coming in 1st and 2nd overall anyway, but it felt alot closer... and we can just handicap it even further.Zeppo wrote:The nice thing about the p.i. system in the game is that we can self-handicap ourselves in our online get-togethers. Give an self-imposed P.I. max rating to certain drivers and a higher limit to others. No different than a handicap in golf that would allow anyone with a legit handicap to compete with a pro golfer, heads-up, and have a fair fight for net score.
The trick will be to figure out how much of a P.I. spread/cap to give certain drivers.

Same here...I'll probably be busted down to the kiddie table once I start playing, so yeah...I'll most likely be here...ScoopBrady wrote:I'm waiting for my copy to come from Gamefly. That should answer your question.
