I could possibly live with a tweakfest if there was a way to save the settings that work without having to go through the secret handshake thing every time you start up your franchise. Chinese water torture looks good by comparison.
That did it for me. But also the surplus of dingers and the fact that you get that stupid little red mark at the wall each time you hit one, taking all the suspense out of the thing.

The settings hold fine for me. You only need to do the handshake thing when you go to view or change something on the slider screen. If you just go play your games, things will be as they were.
I agree with you on that...but for those of us who haven't pulled the trigger on that $ 700 game yet (and I'm damm closeJackB1 wrote:It's not the HR's that bothered me at all. In fact, after turning down the power settings, I think 2K7 and The Show have about the same HR rate.TheGamer wrote:I just played a game, my Cubs vs Phillies. Phils win 3-2, there were no homeruns hit. in fact throughout my gm career in which I've played every game, I have had very few home run fests. I'm really glad that I'm enjoying this game. Its too bad that few others are.
The game sure is pretty, but after a few weeks I got over the look of the game and was left with a game that just didn't "feel" like baseball compared to The Show. To me, 2K7 was very similiar to previous efforts and the pitching interface is just not challenging at all to me. I can throw a pitch to any spot in the strike zone I want almost all the time. Makes pitching a boring experience. I tried using those other meters and while they did make it harder to hit spots, I just didn't like using them. Also, the lack of camera angles, the lack of foul balls, walks, wacky AI, fielders bumping into walls and falling down, lack of hit variety....all just got to me after a while. It's not a horrible game. It just doesn't hold my interest very long.

To each his own I guess. I haven't had any of the issues that people are complaining about with this. I would say just about every 10 or so games, I'm seeing something I haven't seen before in a baseball videogame. I may have a very high tolerance and my skills may not be as good as others but this game works for me. I consistenly have 5-8 pitch at bats with balls, called strikes, and foul balls. I've seen a variety of foul balls into the upper deckes and down the lines. Even straight back over the backstop, letting me know I'm right on a pitch. I swear the AI uses my VIP to pitch to me, because it keeps pitching me sliders off the plate that I can't lay off. Its a shame that games can't all be good out the box. but I don't mind having to adjust some sliders to get the game where I want it to be.

I almost gave up on it until I edited my roster. The Yankees were just too powerful in this game so I had to change some ratings around. I just edited all my players' HR ratings (not the power ratings b/c that will affect doubles too) down by 25 notches. Then I had to tweak the control ratings on all my pitchers' pitches down by 30 in addition to changing their walk rating by 20. Throw in a slider set I found on OS and I've been extremely pleased with the game since. I get great hit variety (even better than MLB 06 the Show) and it's no longer a HR fest, even though I play with classic swing and I actively try to hit HR's early in the count a lot. I can honestly say that I've never enjoyed a baseball game more than MLB 2K7 and I'm getting some very realistic stats to boot.snaz16 wrote: I agree with you on that...but for those of us who haven't pulled the trigger on that $ 700 game yet (and I'm damm close) I will tweak on until I find that happy zone. Tweakfest indeed !
I'm playing with the Rockies and using Heelfan's "Classic Swing" sliders from OS. Through my first 10 games of the season it's been very enjoyable. No homerun fests and a variety of scoring.
I threw a 6 hit, 2 run complete game with Hirsch at LA yesterday. 4 of those hits and the 2 runs came in the 1st inning.

Is this for fielding? I'm still playing it almost everyday.sportdan30 wrote:A new camera angle (pole view) was added in an update. Good news for you guys still playing this game.
Had one of those "rare" gaming sessions last night.
Playing against Houston with Anthony Reyes on the mount and took a no hitter into the 9th inning, Reyes was exhausted, but I could get most of my pitches somewhere in the strikezone. Got Biggio to pop out and then Luke Scott broke it up with a double to the wall. Izzy came in and saved the game and I won 2-0.
Reyes went 8.1 innings with 1 hit allowed.
Been reading more about the update and it not only adds another fielding view called "pole", but it fixes some other glitches like bases on balls now counting as runs and a few other glitches.
This is great news.
I just downloaded the 6/18 roster update and started another franchise the other day as well.

Wow...that is great news indeed. I still play this game all the time and the BB's not counting as earned runs was pretty annoying. Sweet...MizzouRah wrote:Been reading more about the update and it not only adds another fielding view called "pole", but it fixes some other glitches like bases on balls now counting as runs and a few other glitches.

I'm biased because I liked the game before the patch, but this new camera angle is nice. Just like a tv broadcast. If anyone gave up on the game because of the fielding camera, you should give it another look. To me it fixes these items:
1. no more hard to follow ground balls on night games . I use to hate playing at night.
2. better reads on fly balls, when you are running the bases and deciding when to take an extra base. and when in the field.

Love it! My biggest gripe about the game was the camera angle as I felt you were zoomed too far in. This really pulls everything out a bit and it's much easier to get a good read while fielding.
I also like how it shows off the stadiums better since you're not zoomed in so tight. You get a better feeling of playing in the different parks now IMO.
Also, how cool is it of these guys to address one of the biggest issues from user feedback THIS YEAR, and not wait until 2K8? Mad props for that.

I was going to say the same thing...I haven't even played this game this year, and didn't intend to since I'm 110% satisfied with The Show for PS3, but with the new camera angle I'll probably definitely pick up 2k the next time I'm in a store and see it on the shelf. I didn't even know it would be possible to add a new angle through an update...that's great to hear.

Help me out. How does one get the 'pole cam'? I just played a game (post update) and never saw it.MizzouRah wrote:Played a game with the new "pole" fielding camera and I'd have to say, the game plays like a whole new game as far as fielding is concerned.
The fields actually look big like they should and catching and fielding is much easier now.
I'm happy so far!
I did notice they fixed the "slider handshake" in the difficulty menu...

I believe you have to go into presentation and then change the camera angle from "default" (or whatever you have it set as) to "pole".
I can't remember offhand exactly where it is, but I did have to hunt for it and it was where I would expect it to be. You'll know the difference right away once you make the change. It's a big difference, for the better.
The framerate is a little choppy on long throws in the infield, like from 3rd to 1st, but the pro's of this new camera heavily offset the cons.

I do not see a single place to select different camera options. I can't do it from the MLB startup screen, inside a game, or inside my season. Makes no sense.PRBoom wrote:I believe you have to go into presentation and then change the camera angle from "default" (or whatever you have it set as) to "pole".
