Dont forget about that "Fast Forward" feature that lets you sim the innings you dont want or dont have time to play. That helps a lot. If I know I only have 30 mins to game, I will sim every other inning and get done in about 25.

Have any of you guys with the PS3 version also played the PS2 version?
Is the gameplay identical? Are the graphics MUCH better? I love my PS2 version of the The Show, but can't see dropping $500 for a PS3 just to play a slightly better looking version of the game.

Thats pretty much what it is Jack. The gameplay has the same feel as the PS2 version...except smoother. There are a ton more animations than the PS2 version. I honestly rate the graphics much better than the PS2 version. I'm getting tired of hearing about how it doesn't look "next gen". The game looks fabulous. Is there room for improvement - definitely. I can't justify recommending a purchase of a PS3 just for this game though.

It plays smoother then then PS2 version and has more animations. Plus the trades are fixed in franchise. Graphically it's a step up from the PS2. But honestly if you go look at it before you buy it, there is no way these kind of graphics will be passable in year 2. I can't understand people saying their great, I just chalk it up to drug use. Personally if you combine the looks of MLB2K and the game play of this and then you have a true Next Gen title in my mind.

No way does this game justify purchasing a PS3 in my mind, its desperate times in PS3 land when this game is a system seller. Don't get me wrong it's an excellent game, but its a first effort next gen title and it shows it in a lot of areas.

People are desperate for a good baseball game. MLB 2k is not a good baseball game...imho.

I agree with Diablo in regards to the graphics. I think it's a huge step up from the PS2 version. The PS3 version does not feel grainy or as washed out as the PS2. The field could use a little more texture, but overall I'm happy with the graphics. Still not on par with 2K7, but it's not so dramatic a difference.

Just finished my best game of video baseball, ever. I'm 30 games or so into a franchise with the fantasy-draft Brewers. We're at Philly. 4-3 Brewers in the bottom of the eighth, two outs two on. Bonderman is hanging on by a thread after a strong start, but the pen isn't quite ready. He runs the count to 1-2, and then goes back to his slider that he has barely used all game. Big mistake, as he hangs one to Guillen who rips it to left-center for what looks to blow the game open for the Phils. But there's a stiff wind blowing in...Crawford leaps at the wall and pulls it back in. Never was able to do that before in the Show. It wasn't one of those cheap-ass 2k7 robs you see every inning, but the result of perfect timing and a lot of luck. We go to the top of the 9th. Phils bring in some guy fresh from the minors (wearing one of those "The Show" caps). He begins the inning by walking the bases loaded, one of them on four pitches. Seriously. They yank him, but before it is over Young singles home two and the Brewers have a nice padding going into the bottom of the ninth. They bring in Julio who gets touched for a solo dinger, but they hang on to win 6-4.

Earlier in the game I had another first - Crawford gets caught in a rundown between second and third on a grounder to third, but manages to sneak back ahead of the throw into second.

Okay, it's still probably not worth $600, but I'm having a hell of a lot of fun here.

Bonus - as someone over at OS mentioned, watch what happens when you leave the game unpaused when you're in the field. Some classic cut-scenes and PA announcements. One I saw was Thome and the first-base ump apparently checking out some babes in the stands.

Taking the bad with the good, the post-home run physics are pretty bad. The ball just disappears into the crowd most of the time. There are also no stadium animations, like the Mets apple or Bernie Brewer (really miss the latter in my franchise). Here it is actually a step backward from the PSP version (and I assume the PS2 as well, but I haven't played).

2K7's graphics get a hell of alot of praise for being choppy as hell. They are nice but man does the game chug along. And its animations don't even sniff "The Show". As far as looks, 2K7's graphics are better, but they don't move well at all. Bogs the system down alot at times. To each his own.

Totally and completely agree on all fronts. If I had never played The Show, I would have thought 2K7 was making strides, but still suffered from herky jerky movements. Now, after playing The Show on the PS3, it's incredibly apparent how far behind they are from its competitor.

It's funny how people are finally "admitting" that MLB2K7 is a mediocre game at best. I remember a while back when it was getting heaps of praise, but now "you've lost that lovin feeling". The Show on PS2 is my favorite bb video game of all time and if I had an extra $500 laying around, I would be playing that version. Glad to see you guys enjoying this great game of hardball on your PS3's.

It's still early Jack, settle down.

It's a medicore game, but it has things like dynamic lighting, which was done perfectly. I'm really excited about what they will do with next year's title. If they can get the gameplay up to par, I think it'll surpass The Show.

Been saying it since the day 2k was released.

When WE:Jap is release and I get a PS3, I'll be picking this up. Sounds like it's the best US title we've got. And there's no way I could play a japanese league game, no matter how good the baseball was.

I could care less about the dynamic lighting if the gameplay doesn't hold my attention. My biggest problem with 2K7 is that is just doesn't play out like real baseball. Once I got used to the pretty graphics, the game became yawn inducing to me.

I'm guessing this is in the "superstar" or what ever it's called mode. The one where you play your position only.

After about a dozen games I hit my first serious "game not quite finished" bug. My pitcher in the bullpen was warming up and I got a "pitcher warm" notification on the top center of the screen. Problem is that it never went away.

Made it very fun playing outfield for the rest of the game. Luckily, I haven't seen this mentioned by anyone anywhere else and it has yet to happen again. I was also jumping in and out of menus pretty rapidly at the time so I'm pretty sure that also had something to do with it.

Thats the kind of thing I was worried about with this game being delayed multiple times, but let me tell you, outside of that this game is just polished beyond belief with all of the great little touches. I realize its still VERY early, but I've never enjoyed a team sports game as much as this one. On top of that, my wife walked into the room as I was playing and said "wow, that looks fantastic". My wife never comments on my video games. Even though I was initially dissapointed with the field textures and the batter models, I'm also enjoying the sharp look of the game.

I'm also with Leebo in that I really, really wish they would put in the ability to save in game. That alone is the reason I've been playing The Show 06 and 07 on the PSP and utilizing the sleep function. A team sports game not having an in-game save is usually a deal breaker for me, but I'm just having too much fun with this game and the ability to fast forward to the end has already bailed me out of losing my progress on a couple of games already.

I'm a dweeb, but not quite that much of one - I play one game every other series or so and sim the rest.

So? Play ootp 2007 or BM 2008. The graphics set a standard for nex gen sports games. Like the reviews said, it plays just like the ps2 version. If that's true, get past the pretty graphics.

What a great great game. I am so impressed with this title. It just feels like baseball. I know that comment has been said over and over again, but it's just so true.

Started my season, and while I lost 6-4 in the opener, I rallied back from a 5-1 deficit. A solo shot by Edmonds who worked the count to 2-2, along with consecutive hits by Scottie, Juan, Kennedy, and Molina brought the game to 5-4. If I was down 5-1 in 2K7, I felt completely hopeless. The main reason why is that I never could string more than a couple hits together. The game for whatever reason seemed too random in a way.

By the way, I downloaded the current rosters. Wow, they're right up to date! They have Carp and Wilson on the dl, and Thompson in the rotation. Ludwick has been called up to majors. What happens when Carpenter and Wilson come back from injury? Will it alert me, or do I just manually put him back on the active roster?

I didn't realize that they have up to date news in real time for every major league team. Acquisition, trades, injuries, etc. Way cool.

Almost forgot. Love how they took various sound bites from radio announcers broadcasting exciting games and play them sporatically through the menu system.
