I did see the end of the third period and the overtime and it certainly looked like the Ducks earned that one. Damn, but playoff OT losses in the hockey are by far the toughest to take.

Do you only have 1 TV? :P
We do, but it's in the bedroom and I had work that I needed to do on our computer. :(

Todd:

FYI: You can listen to the radio broadcasts from the announcers of the home or away teams for free at NHL.com. Just click on the Scores link, and you'll see a LISTEN! link for each game that night.

That was a godsend for me the week before I left for Indy, as I was working every night and didn't get to watch enough pucks. So I listened to the games while working instead.

Plus any excuse to hear the great Rick Jeanneret call Sabres' games is good enough for me. :)

i am really surprised by the SENS. They got hot and about 40% of the "experts" picked them to beat PIT.

Ducks. Embaressing 2nd period. Actually disgraceful.

Stop acting like street punks and play hockey.

Disney does not own them anymore so its ok to goon it up.

Doesnt matter right now As Ottawa are going to wipe the floor with any of them.

The Wings will go as far as Hasek can take them. Another solid performance by the Dominator, only shadowed by the great game of T. Holmstrom. The Swede was a monster and a sure gladiator after coming back from a brutal and dirty by Niedermanyer & Pronger. They both went after his head and Pronger should be suspended. Ducks were clearly frustrated in this game. Great move by V.Filppula in Holmstrom's second goal, this kid got potential.

IF ANA's parade to the box continues, it will benefit DET all the way to the finals.

As the resident Wings' critic at DSP, I'm ready to eat a plate of crow. I'm not a Wings' fan, but I've become a begrudging admirer of the effort of this year's team in the playoffs. It doesn't hurt, either, that I HATE Anaheim. :)

But the Wings are showing remarkable grit mixed with excellent goaltending and skill. Their advantage in skill and speed is starting to get under the skin of Anaheim, which resorted to its usual goon tactics when the game got out of hand last night. I agree with Engblom: Pronger should have been penalized at least five minutes for his part in that hit on Homer.

I'll never put Homer ahead of Ryan Smyth, my bias clearly showing, but he is the second-best player in the NHL around the net, no question.

I'm really, really impressed with the Wings. A Stanley Cup Final between two teams hungry to erase the labels of early-round flameouts could be a real treat. Doesn't hurt that they're both skilled hockey teams showing plenty of commitment and grit right now, either.

Take care,
PK

You know, it never dawned on me to click over to the online radio broadcast. I'll do that next time, PK.

That was a pretty stunning game last night. I don't think the Wings have had one like that in the playoffs since 2002 (Game 7 against Colorado). I thought the move to pull Giguere (sp?) was a bit premature, but obviously, it didn't much matter. The hit on Holmstrom was way, way out of line. The league really needs to stamp down on this macho bullsh#t, "we must protect this house," garbage that goes on when a team gets stomped on and retaliates with dirty play.

I'm not going to start feeling too overconfident about the Wings chances, though. This is only the first of the three games that they really outplayed Anaheim. All the Ducks have to do is win the next game and it's anybody's series again.

As an avid Blues fan and a Wings hater.. I'll echo pk's thoughts. It's great to watch a team like that play. They definitly out worked Anaheim big time tonight.

Plus, that was a cheap shot ol Pronger and co. gave Holmstrom.

Absolutely. The series could & should have been 2-1 in favour of the Ducks if it wasn't for Hasek. ANA was caught flat last night & both of their goalies were rather shaky. I expect a better effort from them in game four for sure. They do miss Kunitz in the Selanne line, who's been rather quiet.

And rightfully so, C. Pronger gets suspended for a game despite B. Burke's dumb excuse that he's 6'6 and Homer 6'1. So what? Players can't control their stickwork, the taller you are Burkie?

Is this the day Senators sweep the Sabres? I picked them all the way to the finals, but still I want some more out of BUF.

Agree on Pronger.

Buffalo looked good in the first...Only the 2nd period they have out played the Sens entire series.
Im also hoping they keep it going. More NHL playoffs is a good thing.

Burke is a f*cking Neanderthal. If he had his druthers, curved sticks, helmets, visors and goalie masks would be outlawed.

Any wonder Burkie's team led the NHL this season in fighting majors? I like a good fight as much as anyone, but it almost seems like Burkie is modeling the Ducks after the Broad Street Bullies.

I sure hope the skill of Detroit prevails.

R. Miller steals one for BUF and they better take whatever momentum they have into game five at home. The PK unit finally came thru and blanked OTT this time. BUF is too good of a team to get swept, so we'll see on friday.

An improvement for sure, but there's more to be given. Thank goodness Emery sucks. Ottawa's defense is pretty amazing, I have to admit.

If they can somehow get the Buffalo crowd behind them(maybe an early goal), maybe they can get it back to Ottawa.

Id like to see Buffalo win the next one...At least to see how Ottawa reacts....Not that it will happen but Ottawa has never been a playoff team and if any team can blow a 3-0 lead its them...

Not this year they are the real deal. Going to be tough for Ducks or wings but the way the wings played last night might make it interesting.

Expect the ducks to bounce back tho.

We'll see how the Ducks react without C. Pronger in the lineup after a bad show on tuesday. He's hard to replace to say the least but for ANA to have any success tonight they must stay out of the sin box and when presented with a chance, score on their PP that's been struggling. T. Selanne must get it going, he's been dangeous earlier in the playoffs but doesn't have a point yet in this series.

F. Beauchemin & S. Niedermayer played huge in the absence of C. Pronger but more importantly for the Ducks, their PP finally clicked and their top two lines scored including T. Selanne, a guy I thought was missing in action so far. Translation, this series is best out of three now and I am sure no one would be surprised if it goes the distance. DET had their chances especially on a 5 on 3 PP but ANA showed some urgency tonight.

Bench Pronger! The Ducks are better without him! :)

I agree with James: This series is going the distance. Very unpredictable, very fun to watch.

Lets see , so you can crush people from behind all day as long as your stick is down but if you tap a guy with the stick in the back its a penalty ? Frickin joke. eg. Niedemyer on the faceoff to start the 3rd.

Ive seen it all playoffs long. Ive cringed at some of the hits from behind and nothing then a little tug or a stick in the hands 2 mins.

They only called Holmstroms hit from behind cos the sticks were up.

Ex policeman and refs it takes a special asshole to want to be one.

You are right on the first.

Grats to the Sens. Their big line played big with all three getting a goal each.

Even though it was short, as a neutral observer, it was a fun series to watch.
