Ajax 1:1 Livorno

Livorno's defense proved a tough nut to crack, as Ajax was held to a draw after only managing one goal - their lowest output of the season.

Ajax enjoyed most of the possession throughout the match, but on every foray down the field, found the box swarming with defenders. Ajax's persistence paid off however in the 37th minute, as Huntelaar put Rosales behind the defense, and Rosales scored with a perfect shot off the far post.

The lead however would be shortlived, as only moments later Babayoko held off a trailing defender and powered through Stam, and then beat the keeper 1 on 1 to tie the game.

The second half was mostly played in Livorno's end, with Ajax pumping balls in the box, but unable to find their big target Huntelaar. Ajax did have one final chance with Maduro shooting from 20 yards, but the shot was well saved and the rebound cleared.

This game closes the season for Ajax, who have clinched the premiership. Great season everyone!

Also, for some reason this game is being double-counted in the standings for Slumber and I if an admin can fix that.

Stats
Ajax Livorno
SOG - 14(8 ) - 4(2)
FK - 2 - 0
CK - 4 - 0
F(O) - 0 - 2(1)
POSS - 54 - 46

Goals: Rosales 37', Babayoko 42'

Sincere apologies to D2 and my cup opponent - real life has called for the past week or so. I'll try to get online as often as possible between now and the weekend - if there's a time that works for you please let me know.

DSP WE League Cup Quarterfinal Draw

Post by Zeppo »

Cup Quarterfinal Draw

Folks, here are the matchups for the Quarterfinals of the DSP WE League Season Nine Cup:
  • Naples 39 = AFC Ajax v. TCrouch = FC Internazionale Milano

CP Zeppo = AS Monaco FC v. HOGZ TheTruth = AC Milan

JaredM = Olympiacos CFP v. Sully OS = ACF Fiorentina

DrMacca = West Ham Utd. FC v. St Cloud = Tottenham Hotspur FC
Remember, the home team is listed FIRST. Also, don't forget to set the game up with E.T. set to on and PKs set to on.

Let's try to get these games played soon, so we can move on to the Semis before we draw new teams! :P

Have fun, and play fair!

Shoot, sorry I missed you. I had to watch the CL semi-final tonight, so I haven't been online at all. Maybe some other time on Thursday?

My 360 bit the dust today:( I won't be playing any games for awhile I guess depending on how long the turn around is with Microsoft after I send it in for repairs.

I play with Newcastle FC (aka the team with no wins).

Zep,

I believe Danimal has gone on vacation - we've missed our match (my final one of the season) - I don't know if you want to call it a default tie? If not I can take the default loss 3-0.

St.Cloud,
I'll be online tonight after 10pm EST. You can pm me or send me an XBL message if that works for you.

Monaco Move Into Cup Semifinals

Post by Zeppo »

Cup Result

AS Monaco FC 4 : 0 AC Milan

Monaco hosted Milan in the 3rd Round of the DSP WE League Season Nine Cup and Jan Koller had his most dominating match of the season in the 4-0 win. Koller scored a brace and set up Kallon for another with a shot that Dida could only parry back into play. Leko capped the scoring with a smashing header from 6 yds. after some nice, fluid ball movement set up RB Cufre for a cross.

Monaco moves on to the Semifinals of the Cup, and awaits the random draw which will determine their opponent. As soon as the remaining Quarterfinal matches are complete, the draw will be performed.

Good game, Truth. Koller was a monster, he's so tough to push off the ball. Good luck with the rest of your League games!

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. AC Milan and Bayern Munich played a double last night with AC Milan showing their strength on the pitch.

Game 1 - At Bayern Munich

AC Milan 1
Bayern 1

Good game throughout. AC Milan had a lot of shots but had trouble finishing. Bayern hung on for its first point of the season.

Game 2 - At AC Milan

Bayern 2
AC Milan 6

AC Milan after their stunning draw came out with guns blazing in game 2. AC was up 5-0 at half and cruised to an easy victory over a confused and frustrated Bayern Munich team.

Good game Truth. I don't know what happened that second game. The seas parted and goals came very quickly.

Guys, a final reminder that the extended deadline for the completion of Season Nine is this Sunday, May 6. Please get your games completed by then. Unfortunately as it stands now, the winners of Divisions II and IV still have yet to be decided. In Division IV, the two top clubs still have a game to play between them, which could well determine who wins the division. Division II has not even completed half of their games as of this time, so it's likely whoever gets promoted into the DSPremiership will do so by default.

Cup games need to be completed soon as well. We still have two rounds to go after the Quarterfinals, and I'd hate to have those games extend into the next season.
