I'm home all day working if people want to play.Slumberland wrote:I'd love to do whatever it takes (doubleheaders, keg stands, etc.) to get the rest of my games in today, so Rob, Jared, Cloud, Naples, let me know if you're available. Let's roll!
Slumber, I was hoping to play you later as our next match could decide the league, but will definitely give it a go today if you want to get it done with.

Livorno 2 Aston Villa 3
SOG 11, 12
Target 6, 7
FK 6, 1
CK 4, 4
Livorno: Lucarelli 53', 66'
Villa: Angel 4', 70'; Baros 42'
Bookings: Samuel (Yellow)
Villa avenged its earlier defeat at the hands of Livorno and stopped its league freefall with a razor thin 3-2 win over Livorno in Italy. The Villains got off to the best possible start in the fourth minute, as Bouma tenaciously beat his man down the left flank and centered a beautiful dipping cross which Angel toed into the side netting of the far post. The parties traded chances for the duration of the half, until the 42nd minute, when Baros sqirmed through several markers and headed home a Bouma corner.
Livorno regrouped at half and came out with guns blazing. League menace Lucarelli scored twice in quick succession. Both times he pivoted around his marker with deft footwork and blazed his finish past the Villa keeper.
Matters were drawn with 23 minutes remaining. Livorno had most of the play down the stretch, but in the 70th minute Juan Pablo Angel beat the Italian LB, tore into the area and fired past the Livorno keeper at a difficult angle to find the winner. Livorno's relentless pressure down the stretch failed to yield the equalizer that they deserved.
Good games, Slumber. I was glad that I was able to to at least give you a challenge.
Zep, the SGN site isn't allowing me to take control of Villa to enter the score/info.

Ajax 3:2 Aston Villa
Ajax survived a late comeback bid from the Villains to win 3-2 at the Orange Arena.
Both teams came out of the gate with a lot of energy, and the match immediately turned into a no-nonsense, end-to-end affair. Strong play from the keepers however kept it scoreless until the 32nd minute, when Roger put Huntelaar in behind the defense, and Huntelaar made no mistake one-on-one with the keeper. After some more great chances for both teams and two posts for Ajax, the match went to half 1-0.
Similar to the last Ajax-Villa affair, a quick pair of goals put Villa in a deep hole. In the 58th minute Huntelaar shielded the ball from an aggressive defender, and turned in on goal all alone, and again Huntelaar's cool hand found the back of the net. Only 4 minutes later a counter-attack down the right wing saw Rosales send in a cross which Babel finished powerfully at the back post, putting the home side up 3-0.
Villa would not roll over however, and after long spells of possession in the attacking third, Villa finally found that elusive, decisive pass, putting Angel in alone. Stekelenburg made an excellent initial save, though the rebound came right back to Angel who finished into the open net from a narrow angle. 6 minutes later in the 83rd, another good through ball beat the offside trap and Baros beat the keeper to the far post.
It was too little, too late however for Villa, as Ajax had most of the possession late to kill of the game.

A little. I'm hating my team more than I am getting upset at my decisions, which is an improvement I supposeSlumberland wrote: Do you feel like you're getting your groove back a little bit, Rob?
