I'm leaning towards Dirt. Here's why, Forza was never the great racing simulation as heralded. It was just like GT, a very good driving simulation but not racing. And it had it's online problems where it had super cars. I don't remember the class.
I still would love to see what a TOCA 3 on the 360 would look like.

I thought the obvious answer was both?!
me too!! BOTH! I am pretty sure there will be a gap of AT LEAST a month and probably more like 2 between these games. I doubt DIRT is released in June. July maybe and might even see it pushed back to August. Hopefully a demo is out for both soon!!

yea that won't happen. It will be released end of June earliest. Just go to Codies site. It shows summer 07. They are saying the end of June in the forums there. Also, on May 3rd, Codemasters is hosting a Dirt Forums day. This is basically a free invite to play the game at Codemasters. The invite even says, come play the game ages before it comes out. Again that date is May 3rd so I would take EB and Gamecrap dates with a grain of salt.
I watched the last couple of Dirt videos at gametrailers, and I am a little worried now. First of all, it was very hard to watch the videos because whoever was playing the game simply cannot drive at all, so that certainly doesn't help the game look like a winner. But what really bugged me was that it looks like the changing iris effect in the lighting may be unforgivably distracting. It has that 'first try' 360 launch game look that all those early releases had, such as GRAW and PGR and others, where the lighting would adjust wildly from bright to dark as you changed your angle to the 'sun.' From some angles, the road surface was so dark it looked like night and was very hard to see; from others, everything was bright and clear. Of course, this iris shift seems to take forever, well over a second, which just makes it worse, and really sucks if you are changing directions rapidly back and forth. Now, I'm sure the actual game would look brighter than these videos (GT videos often seem to be too dark on my display when I stream them through the 360), but there's no doubt that there is a lot of this iris effect going on in a way that games from early in the 360's life did way too much, and more recent releases have calmed down quite a bit.
The other distressing thing is that Nicky Grist seems to be gone and replaced by a robot with an American accent. I mean, this guy is dry as they come and almost hard to understand because he is so boring sounding. Was it something about the Scottish brogue that has suddenly scared the codies away from Grist? Or at least someone who sounds real? I guess I can get used to it if the pace notes are functional, but a lot of the McRae character will be gone with no Grist. A real bummer.
I really hope this lighting BS doesn't kill the game for me. I'm not interested in having to crank my display settings all out of whack for one specific game, and unless they tone down this dynamic iris 'when you look in the direction of the sun, everything around you turns dark, and just look at now slow it happens' crap. That stuff was fine back when the 360 just came out, but games are now demonstrating a much better handle on those kinds of effects, and Dirt will look like it should have been a launch title if they don't reduce the extremity of it.

Grist is Welsh, you DICK! Just had to get in a good rip since we don't tease each other on XBL anymore.

It's too bad you missed one of the best GRAW 2 moments with Zeppo. He was willing to uhm, take one for the team.
Now, this guy can at least drive OK, and I'm not seeing a lot of that iris effect that had me worried from the latest vids at gametrailers. These aren't hi-res, but there is a nice variety of stuff in the clips.

The game has two cockpit views. Look at the end of the first video. Video 8 has a cool cockpit view too.

I didn't want to start a new thread yet for it, but Codies is reporting that they are now working on a new TOCA......Aka.... Race DriverOne. Not too many details, but they officially announced it according to TeamXbox.com
well, according to a preview of this from Gamespot ( http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/driving ... ks;title;3 )
There will be no actual multi-player. Sure there will be the possibility 100 player lobbies for time trial so it will be like a real rally event, but no MP for the buggys and trucks Kind of disappointing to me really! I was expectingly it for the other non rally racing.
Did anyone check out the video "swank menus". Has to be the best looking GUI ever made. Now if it works like NBA 2k menus then it will be shiite.
It looks like Apple core animations are being used in full force (or whatever graphics program does that kind of stuff, I just saw it in Apple's Leopard preview).
Anyway, I think this game has moved from rental to buy after seeing the "Crash" movie.
