Mine's been getting a lot of play lately, though that could due in large part to my 5th Xbox 360 getting repaired.

That looks like a pretty solid update. I like that they added background downloading and that PSP connect stuff.

I have a couple of questions.

1. I thought I read that you can easily upgrade your PS3 harddrive with one you buy at the store. Is this true?

2. What is the biggest difference between the 60-gig PS3 and the 20-gig one? Has everyone pretty much been buying the 60-gigger here?
I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.

I think this page has the differences.

I have the 60 gb one. As a matter of fact the more I think about it, the more I think, I have only seen the 60 gb model on shelves. I've yet to see the 20 GB verison.

Sully, how do you like your ps3? I have a target gift card I got for Xmas with $300 on it and was thinking about using it to pick up a ps3. My replacement xbox is working fine but I am still not convinced it'll hold up. I think the only thing I will miss if i get rid of xbox is xbox live.

There are only two things I can think of that I dislike about the PS3. One, no XBL. Sony's online service is in its infancy stage, and we've been spoiled by what XBL has to offer. The second is the lack of games. Sure, they'll come, but I've been spending most of my gaming time on the PS3 playing PS2 titles like The Show, MVP NCAA, and God of War. Aside from that, I'm loving it as a BluRay player. It's an impressive machine, and in my opinion, much more reliable and sturdier than the Xbox 360. If the PS3 fails miserably in the next-gen, it isn't because the system itself isn't up to par, it's more that Sony has poorly handled pricing and marketing, and continues to.

My 360 still gets more play, but I've made it no secret that I think the system is a unreliable piece of junk. Of course, I'm biased. Four dead 360s in 13 months will do that to you. :)

I really like what Sony is doing with the folding@home project. But if MS were to do something like this, I would be afraid to leave my 360 turned on when I was not using it for fear of starting a fire. Once my 360 extended warranty runs out next spring I will have to make a decision about my next console. It may be a PS3 for reliability sake. I like Live but I am not an online gamer, so I use it for patches and other downloads. But the arcade games lately have been too retro for my tastes.

I managed to get a 20 gig ps3 , unless you need a wireless hookup why would you need a 60 , that was the way i looked at it. A 20 gig still has 10 more gigs than my 360 right.

Yeah, I think the only differences between the 2 are that the 60 gig, aside from the 40 more gigs, is WiFi ready, and has flash card readers.

I have a 20 gig, and I picked up the 1.60 update a couple nights ago. I hadn't actually turned my PS3 on for several weeks up until this latest update. Maybe the excitement of background downloading and protein folding will draw me back to the PS3's premium gaming experience... ;)
