I just went back and played Smash Court Tennis 2 for the PS2 and it's amazing how much deeper and more satisfying that older game is than VT3. You have lobs, slices, drops, smashes, perfectly timed shots, etc.
Anyone still with a PS2 that wants to play a solid tennis game (even better than Top Spin2 IMO) should try and pick that game up.

It's the king of tennis video games IMO. Heck, the game even has fatigue in it. You can't simply play every tournament. Your body needs to recover.JackB1 wrote:I just went back and played Smash Court Tennis 2 for the PS2 and it's amazing how much deeper and more satisfying that older game is than VT3. Did u play the demo? It plays like "ass", as you like to say.
It's not worth 6 bucks. Teamxbox agrees....

Pick up Top Spin2 or Smash Court 2 (PS2)
instead...they are both probably even cheaper.

Yeah...the demo is not great, and what is interesting is that none of the reviews talk about actual gameplay!?!?JackB1 wrote:Did u play the demo? It plays like "ass", as you like to say.

They talk about the career mode, online play and then graphics and sound. But nothing about HOW the game plays!
I am hoping the demo was from an unfinished build. You would think that if there was a major problem with the diving for balls that one of the reviews would mention it, yet nothing was said. The only saving grace for this game is it's online play with 4 seperare people!!! If the gameplay is even slightly tighter than the demo, the FUN potential with online play could be through the roof!

I had a fine time with the demo. Sure, it's not a sim or anything, but that's not why I play games sometimes. If it's fun to play via multiplayer...then I'm all for it. The demo was the reason I'm renting before buying...so I obviously wasn't blown away by it...I was planning on buying it, but the demo convinced me otherwise. I just want to see the final build.Spooky wrote:Yeah...the demo is not great, and what is interesting is that none of the reviews talk about actual gameplay!?!?
Oh...I am all for arcadey-type sports, especially for multiplayer, but there were still a couple things that bothered me in the demo. The diving for balls by the men (women did not do it nearly as much) and the lack of shot variety feel (still have no idea what the difference between the tops spin and slice shots are).dbdynsty25 wrote:I had a fine time with the demo. Also, while the presentation was decent and the graphics are colorful and sharp, they are still not great IMO. Where is the trademark cloud cover changes that the old VT games had!?!?! I LOVED that!

I'm returning a game to Blockbuster tonight and plan on picking up this or VT3 if they have either of them in. But I still have no clue how the season or multi-season modes work in UEFA, did the TeamXBox review give some more information about that?JackB1 wrote:UEFA got a real solid review over at TeamXbox.....a full point higher than WE360. Might be worth a rental? They said that they improved on a bunch of things from FIFA 07-360.

I am very skeptical of UEFA. It's still early, but the average review score per gamerankings.com is lower than WE360. Even teamxbox, which so far has given it's highest review, had this to say;
Combine this with the trading card system (which sounds dreadful to me) and I'm less than impressed.But the real sticking point in UEFA Champions League 2006-2007 is the A.I., which seems to defy all tenets of professional soccer. The A.I.’s dribbling skill is so high (on any difficulty) that many matches turn into a one man show. A bit more realistic soccer gameplay on the part of the CPU would go a long way in making UEFA Champions League 2006-2007 a better overall single-player experience.
Playing the demo I didn't feel any difference between Fifa 07 and UEFA. You may find the ball control better to handle especially if you haven't touched 07 and that's a big improvement compared to other Fifa's versions, but I still think your players' AI is dumb and move differently than what you want them to do. Too stationary. Other than the license, I would just stay with 07 or play WE especially the PS2 version.

If you don't nit-pick soccer as much as us WE nutjobs you will enjoy FIFA. It's a great game.Slumberland wrote:New backcompat update... includes Mercenaries, Panzer Dragoon, and FIFA 2007. Weren't some people going on about how good the Xbox version of FIFA was this year?

The Command & Conquer 3 demo is now available for download.
C&C3 is one of the main reasons I bought my new PC last fall (before it was announced on 360, obviously). Now if they end up announcing Hellgate: London for 360 I will have officially wasted my money.
Oh well, can't wait to download the demo tonight and see how it compares to the PC version.
