D-3'ers, sorry I haven't been around. Had some stuff come up this weekend that has kept me from getting online to play. Not sure what will work the rest of this week, maybe Friday-Sunday, so let me know when you guys will be available.

Roll is a one, so he misses no games.

Terry and everyone:

For now, we shall go with the policy that two yellows in one game will be treated as if they were a straight red; that is, the player will be suspended for the next League game, but no yellow card will be counted towards yellow card accumulation. This policy is subject to change for future seasons.

So, say a player enters a game with one yellow card accumulated and receives one yellow card during the game; should he finish the game with that one yellow, he is now subject to a one-game suspension due to accumulating two yellow cards over the course of the season. He then would have to accumulate two more yellows in future League games before being subject to a second one-game suspension.

However, should he receive a second yellow in the same game (and thus be ejected from the game with the resulting red card), he will be suspended for the next game (as he would if he had received a straight red), but his previously earned yellow card (remember he entered the game with one yellow) will stay on his record, and the next time he receives a yellow card, he will be suspended for one game. Alternatively, should that player, having already received a yellow card in the game, receive a straight red card, rather than a second yellow, that first yellow will be added to his yellow card accumulation, and in fact this player in question (who came in with one yellow card from a previous game) would then be suspended for two consecutive League games: one for the straight red card, and one for yellow card accumulation.

Make sense? I'm really not sure how most leagues deal with this stuff. Our seasons are so short, I mostly go with tournament rules for suspensions (two yellows for a one-game suspension is not normal in league play, usually suspension only comes down after 3 or 4 accumulated yellows). I'm open to suggestions if anyone knows how this is dealt with in real leagues/ tournaments.

So, it sounds like the player in question received two yellows during the game (rather than one yellow and then a straight red), and so he is suspended for the next League game, but the yellows received in this game will not count towards yellow card accumulation. That is, if he already has a yellow from previous games, he now still has one yellow card to his name, and should he receive a yellow card in a future game, he will be suspended for one game.

That means that in the game report at the SGN League site, a player who receives two yellows in one game should be charged with only a red card (no yellows). However, if a player receives one yellow and then a straight red, he should be charged in the game report with one yellow and one red.

All of this is, of course, only enforceable through the honor system. That is, we all expect league members to keep track of their own team's suspensions and injuries. If someone forgets and plays a player that is supposed to miss that game (due to inury or suspension), well, it's no big deal, as long as it's not done deliberately or becomes a pattern. We expect everyone to do his best to keep track of what players on his own team are supposed to be ineligible.

That's indeed what happened. Yellow, yellow, then ejected. It was at the final stats that I saw it counted as a red, so I just reported as it showed. I can change it in the site easily enough, thanks for the clarification :)

Well that would be the way to go then; just report it as if it were a single red card, no yellows, since he received two yellows in the game. If he had received one yellow and then a straight red, then you'd report it as one yellow and one red.

Right. I get it now...it's just at the final stats it showed "Yellows: 4. Reds: 1". When in fact, 2 of those yellows were a red...or why they even showed the red?

I still can't quite grasp the rules of this footie crap

Barca 0, Fiorentina 0

Who would've guessed that these two would combine for the first goalless draw of the season. Not a dull goalless draw, mind you - anything but. It was end-to-end with a lot of missed chances and some incredible defense by Fiorentina.

B - F
13(7) shots 6(1)
49 poss 51

Yellow: Jorgenson (FIO)

Fiorentina 1, Barca 2

Another edge-of-the-seat affair between these two. Fiorentina struck first when Adrian "Crackhead" Mutu did what he (and every forward on both sides) couldn't manage the first meeting - buried a sitter. That seemed to wake Xavi from his slumbers, as he answered back with goals in the 36th and 51st minute. Barca crawled into its shell and prepared for the onslaught - it was furious, but they managed to eek out the victory.

F - B
10(3) shots 11(6)
50 poss 50

Yellow: Marquez (BAR), Zambrotta (BAR)

No injuries either match.

Great games Sully - good luck (but not too much) the rest of the way!

Great games. I needed at least a split with you after a frustrating 0-0 draw with bphilipb's Bayern Munich squad last night. I outshot him about 20-4, but couldn't find the back of the net. He did a great job keeping me to the outside.

I knew it was going to come back and haunt me.

Good game Dave.....(He beat me 4-1)
I was so out of practice last night, I was hitting wrong buttons
all over the place. I really think that this WE360 version offers
less precise control than previous games did. I just feel less in control
of what's happening on the pitch than I ever did before. Is it just me?

And Dave...get a headset for crying out loud! I don't know why anyone
joins a league and then plays without one? It feels like playing the AI to me.

It's not just you, but I'm not one of those that agrees. Every edition has an adjustment period, though I do feel like it took longer to get comfortable with player movement this year than in previous editions. One thing I do experience are these weird sort of 'lost button presses', where I input a command but it seems to get buried in an animation and never materialize. I could be just hitting it too lightly, however.

XXXIV and I had a weird thing where I would send him an invite but he would get a 'failed to connect' error. He also appeared offline, even though I was messaging with him. XXXIV, are you set to appear offline in your personal settings? Do you guys think a router reset would help with the connection issue?

Im set to appear online as far as I know. I did keep getting the failed to connect message which is really strange as I was able to get my game with Zep in...

Zep said to reset the router...Guess we can try that tonight maybe?

Ok Lost to Dave 4-2, most frsutarting game I have ever played. My defender scored on myself, and I wasn;teven controlling him. He headed a shot into my own goal.

Then played Hogz to a 1-1 tie, where he scroed literally with about 3 seconds left in the extended time to tie me.

I'm pretty sure Dave got the stats from game one and hopefully Hogz got game 2 stats,

Can someone give me advice, I feel like I am getting a little better at this game but I am still clueless in some parts. I can't seem to put any shots on goal, does the stick have any control on where the shot goes?

Second someone explain what I shoul;d be looking for as far as subs go. I tried to go all defense when I was up against Hogz and I had no idea what to even look at for subbing players in. All I see is arrows pointing up and down and some kind of cryptic bio-rythm chart. Every game people sub against me and I have yet to make one sub in any game. Is this costing me?

Any help would be appreciated, I really enjoy playing this game but I am becoming so frustrated in league games.

Monaco Completes Season With One Loss, Two Wins

Post by Zeppo »

Three games to report from the last few days.

AS Monaco FC 1 : 3 Blackburn Rovers FC

Monaco met Blackburn at home in the seaside hills and were unable to find any rhythm as they lost 3 - 1. The first half ended scoreless, but Blackburn didn't take long to break the deadlock in the second stanza with McCarthy fiding the target in the 50th mintue. It took until the 68th for Monaco to strike back when big man Jan Koller notched one for the home side to bring the teams level. After that, it was all Rovers, with Jeffers scoring in minute 79 and putting one in during injury time.

Monaco 1 : 3 Blackburn

BLK: McCarthy 50'; Jeffers 79', 90'
MON: Koller 68'

Shots 16(5) : 10(6)
Fouls 3(2) : 5(2)
Poss. 54 : 46

no bookings
no injuries

Paris St. Germain FC 0 : 2 AS Monaco FC

In the second meeting of the season between the French DSPremiership sides, Monaco were able to complete the season sweep with a 2-0 win in El Monumental behind first half goals from Koller and Kallon. PSG's Rothen was unlucky to receieve a straight red card with a vicious tackle from behind just outside the box. It was a tackle that would have earned a yellow anywhere on the pitch, and while the ejection wasn't wholly unfair, one can only think the referee had 'last defender' in mind when he reached for the red, a decision which was perhaps technically precise (those crazy Japanese), but in the flow of the game seemed bizarre, as there was nothing resembling a break away in the move. In any case, the home side rallied together and applied all kinds of pressure in the second half, but despite 7 shots on target, they were unable to beat Roma who was, as usual, superb in goal.

PSG 0 : 2 Monaco

MON: Koller 4'; Kallon 36'

Shots 13(7) : 8(3)
Corners 3 : 1
Fouls 4(2) : 0(0)
Poss. 48 : 52

Yellow card: Dhorasoo (PSG)
Red card: Rothen (PSG)
no injuries

Bolton Wanderers FC 0 : 4 AS Monaco FC

Monaco completed their season on the road with a 4-0 drubbing of bottom standing Bolton thanks to a pair of braces from Koller and DiVaio. The first half was a tight battle, with both teams finding opportunities. In fact, Bolton had the better of the play for the first 20 minutes, but as the half wore on, Monaco began to find their rhythm. In first half injury time Leko, playing right back for the first time this season, sent a lofted through ball from the back over the top to an onrushing Koller, and the pass was picture perfect. The big man displayed his technique as he brought the ball down nicely, pushing it towards goal, and struck it firmly into the side netting.

Ten minutes into the second half, Lurch secured his brace and Monaco's team MVP award (just beating out GK Roma for the season honors) with a strike in the 54th minute. As Blackburn scrambled to score and pushed forward, Monaco took advantage in minutes 76 and 88 with goals from DiVaio capping some nice counter attack moves. Roma made several saves down the stretch to secure the clean sheet.

Blackburn 0 : 4 Monaco

Koller 45', 55'; DiVaio 76', 88'

Shots 9(4) : 7(7)
Corners 2 : 1
Fouls 1(1) : 1(1)
Poss. 54 : 46

no bookings
no injuries

Great games, all. I really enjoyed this season and am looking forward to the next one with this motley crew. I'm starting to get used to these guys, and beginning to experiment with some new positioning, so I hope I can aim for my first championship behind the dominant big man in Season Nine.

Good luck with the rest of your games, guys, and I'll see you online next season, that is, if we don't get in some friendlies before then!

I want to post a reminder that the full season deadline is this Sunday, March 18. Please do your best to get your games played by then. If you need more time, post here that you want an extension. Division III seems to be the one lagging the most, but for the most part we are in very good shape. I'd like to try a 2nd League Cup next season, which should be a fun way to get some interdivisional games that count. The sooner we finish this season, the sooner we can get through the one-week close season, and then start the next season and the cup.

Thanks!

Zeppo,
I screwed up the host settings and had EX time on my match with Danimal. We played to a 0-0 tie in regulation. And a 1-1 tie in Extra Time. I do not have the stats for just the Regulation time. Which score should I post on the league website and here? Just put 0-0 and leave it at that? There were no yellow or red cards given and no injuries.

Here are the stats for the 1-1 tie match:
Valencia 1 : 1 Man U

Man U - Rooney '93 ; Val - Tavano '120

Shots 15(9) : 10(2)
Corners 3 : 1
Fouls 3(3) : 2(1)
Poss. 55 : 45

no bookings
no injuries

League games are 90 minutes, so the part of the game you played that counts is the 'regular time' before the extra time. Those goals don't exist for the league, just as any goals I score in interdivisional friendlies don't count either.

Two match reports, as after lots of frustration, XXXIV and I were magically able to connect and play a doubleheader...

A.S. Livorno 1 : 0 Bolton Wanderers

With Bakayoko out due to a leg injury, Livorno struggled to find a rhythm, but was able to squeak out a victory on an early goal by Lucarelli.

LIV: Lucarelli 2'

Shots 7(3) : 4(1)
Corners 0 : 0
Fouls 1(1) : 0(0)
Poss. 49 : 51

Yellow card: Danilevicius (LIV)

no injuries

Bolton Wanderers 0 : 6 A.S. Livorno

A healthy and raring-to-go Bakayoko led the charge upon his return, netting a hat trick as Livorno regained its form, augmented by Lucarelli's impressive two goal contribution.

LIV: Lucarelli 27', 75'
Bakayoko 44', 48', 53'

BOL: (Own Goal)

Shots 5(2) : 18(15)
Corners 1 : 1
Fouls 4(4) : 1(0)
