Rap in the Rock Hall of Fame?

Half of me says yes let them in, the other half thinks, it is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Is it really the Music Hall of Fame? Any way I have my issues with The RRHOF. There are many groups which deserve to be there but are kept out becasue the mainstream media looks down on them...my username will tell you which one belongs but will never get in anytime soon. There are a few other deserving Rock 'acts' as well.

The R&R Hall of Fame, to me, has always been the Music Hall of Fame, so of course, let the rap acts in. There are only like 3 or 4 that deserve it anyway (Beastie Boys, Run DMC, LL Cool J and maybe NWA).

Agree with all of those (DMC, LL...) Public Enemy anyone?? De La Soul (if I was voting...)

Dr. Dre as a producer for sure.

There are blues artists, soul artists, etc already in, so I don't have a problem. It is more of a "late 20th century pop music HOF" in practice, if not in name.

Plenty of deserving artists will never make it; plenty of undeserving artists will; and plenty of artists will get in multiple times even if they shouldn't (I love John Lennon but his solo career is not Hall-worthy, and George Harrison has one good post-Beatles work, and that only exists because the Beatles wouldn't give him more than a song or two per album).

As DB said, there won't be more than a handful of rap artists inducted anyways.

Probably half of the enshrined performers are not "rock." It's really a late-20th c. American Popular Music HoF.

I enjoy going to visit a great deal, and some of the induction ceremonies are fun. But realistically speaking it's a complete waste of time. The only real use that it serves is to generate occassional heat (and in turn much-needed $$) for some of old-timers who can use it to market themselves.

I know they are not too far removed from their prime but A Tribe Called Quest would be a shoe in for the HOF in my opinion. Their "The Low End Theory" CD is one of the best ever. Some of the early pioneers of the genre like Grand Master Flash and the Furious 5 should also be considered.
