I'm having a lot of fun with this game. Yes I see too many HR's but I'm hitting them not the cpu.
Another topic though is trying to get the rosters from OS. I have followed all their tips and read everything. I get the rosters to my HD but when I save my roster from the x360 to the mem unit and then take it back to my cpu and start up the xchange program and try and back up the roster, it isn't there. I can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong. Any help from anyone who had a hard time would be great. I'm also trying to get the rosters for NCAA 2k7 as well but, one step at a time, I say. It can't be that difficult....

My persistence with this game has paid off a little bit. In letting the catcher call the game, I cut down on a lot of the HRs I was giving up before. I'm cracking HRs like nobody's business, but I feel less cheated now by the power of the CPU. I am getting a bit annoyed by the fielding camera and controls, so I'm hoping I can adjust better to that as time goes on. I frequently move my fielder in such a way that he overruns the ball or doesn't key the fielding animation and it just rolls into the outfield. Sometimes it also doesn't select the right player for fielding a play, which means I have to scramble to try and select the right guy to make a play, often not getting there in time.
All in all, I'm glad I didn't completely give up on it, but there are still a number of quirks to the game I need to get used to.

you guys need to try the sliders i posted in the slider thread if you have not already, it evens a lot of things out. Then if you find things like hitting or pitching just tweak those areas.
last night i played a game red sox vs. twins
red sox 2 12 0
twins 0 9 0
red sox 6k's

I seem to recall many homeruns over the course of the 2006 baseball season. Hmmmm....are some of us just examining this game too deeply? This isn't the 1980s when the running Redbirds manufactured their runs with sacrafice flys, stolen bases, extra base hits. No siree Bob. Now, every team, except for maybe the Dodgers hits for power. It's just the way the game has taken shape. I'd rather see more homeruns than not enough.
Kiss, I had a hellava time also until I clicked on the little A/Z button in the top left of the box on the hard drive blade...if the file is in there this will show it. Click on the file and save it to your mem card then copy that to the 360 hard drive... hope this helps.Kissrox wrote:I'm having a lot of fun with this game. I've really had a good time with this game so far. I pitched my first no-hitter in video game history yesterday with Mark Mulder, of all people. It was really cool how the announcers got into it. They started mentioning it after the 6th, and then again after the 7th. Then when I came into the 8th, they said I needed 6 more outs to be part of baseball history. Then in the 9th, they were talking about it after every pitch. Mulder was completely gassed and the little brackets on the pitching meter were moving so fast I just knew I was going to blow it. I just got lucky and hit the spots perfectly on the last two batters and got the no-hitter. Mulder actually had 0% stamina on the last two guys. After it was over, all the players came to the mound and hugged him and celebrated with him. All in all, it was one of my personal coolest moments in gaming.
That being said, I still await the arrival of The Show 07 on PS3 in mid April. The fielding in this game still feels a little quirky which causes me to miss or over run balls in the infield and outfield at times. I also hate the super outfielders that rob me of homers and balls in the gaps at least 2-3 times per game. I think the no-look over-the-shoulder catch on the warning track is more irritating than the guy climbing the wall 3 times per game. I don't know how they could improve the game so much and yet leave that crap in the game.
Still, I have really enjoyed the game.

Well, I got lit up for 12 runs on All Star difficulty yesterday. Only 3 of the runs came off of 2 homers the rest were all part of many hit parades.
I need to look at the sliders for Pro and All Star and come up with something in the middle because Pro is too easy and All Star is too hard for me right now.

I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.
My time is water down a drain.

You should be able to find a nice spot for *your* offense between the two levels. Finding a sweet spot for the CPU's offense is a bit trickier, actually, as you tend to lose K's as you boost their scoring capability, and vice versa. Generally, if I'm getting enough Ks on the mound, the CPU is not scoring, and if the CPU is scoring, I'm not striking them out.ScoopBrady wrote: I need to look at the sliders for Pro and All Star and come up with something in the middle because Pro is too easy and All Star is too hard for me right now.
I don't know if that middle ground (CPU scoring + 6-7 ks a game avg) is in this game yet for me, but I've gone to K-zone now in an attempt to find it.

Here's a fun one:
There's a nice big white billboard next to home plate at the White Sox stadium, so you can't see the K-zone inteface at all from the pitcher's view when it crosses the billboard. Considering that the motion begins in there sometimes, practically invisible, good luck using that mode.
One half inning of one game there in these settings would have revealed the problem, and a simple color change could have corrected it.
Nice job, guys!

From pitcher's view? K-zone is the x and y axis mode, not the expanding cursor. From the pitcher's view, there is a big progressive billboard to the left of home plate, and when the x axis motion passes over it, it, well, disappears.ScoopBrady wrote:I've played several games at Comiskey (nothing will make me call it US Cellular Field) and I've never had a problem using K-Zone. That's weird.
Are you saying you can see the white interface on top of the white billboard?
It's a lighting thing. The next game it was only bad for a couple of innings. If it's bright, the colors match much more closely.webdanzer wrote:From pitcher's view? 22 games into my season so far and the above is the only real thing preventing this game from being great for me. I think i have almost all other aspects of the game perfect (for me) after tweaking my posted sliders with some other suggestions, but i just can't get the CPU to hit the way i would like. I'm still trying, but as Web says, it seems it's either a 6-1 win with no CPU offense or i get beat 19-3 as they tee off like mad.Finding a sweet spot for the CPU's offense is a bit trickier, actually, as you tend to lose K's as you boost their scoring capability, and vice versa. Played a couple fun games last night. First was Cubs (me) vs. Reds. I used All-Star with CPU power turned down to 50. Lost 7-3. CPU hit five homers, although three of those were because I left some meatballs hanging. I drew four walks which was very cool.
However, having had great difficulty striking out the CPU, I decided to monkey around with the Strike/Ball swinging tendencies, moving them back to 50. I raised the pitching effectiveness against AI batters from 50 to 60.
Next game at the Brewers (vs. Dave Bush) I then had a great, great, great 1-0 game in 10 innings. I struck out 8 guys (7 with Rich Hill) and gave up just five singles. I was striking out left and right myself, as Bush's curve ball was giving me problems. But in the 10th hit a double off the wall with Aramis Ramierez when the CPU tried to make a diving catch in left and missed. I hit a ball to the right side to advance him to third, then hit a sac fly with Jacque Jones to score. Dempster came in and, despite getting the ball indicator shaking all over the zone, closed out the game.
I am definitely in the camp of this being a fun baseball videogame. It's not a sim, but it's entertaining.

Well dont be so quick to sell it....
I'm playing and having wonderful games with my sliders but even so, if this is true.

Well, I certainly have had to mess with the sliders, but this is so far my favorite console baseball game. I've had mostly close games, some tense situations, and occasional home run fests. It's not perfect by any means, and there are things I would love to see implemented, but there is no denying that I'm having a blast with it, both online and off.
But I also realize that it's not everyones cup of tea, so I'm cool with guys selling it. At least he gave it a legitimate shot, which is all you can ask for.
I'm eager to see what the update will entail. Franchise fixes I would guess. As long as they don't break stuff that is working!

29 games into my season with the Red Sox and i have to say i'm pretty pleased with how things are playing out. We are 17-12 thus far. I am using many of my sliders posted in the other thread but with some changes from another set posted there. Here are scores from my last six games. vs. NYY- 1-0 L, 9-4 L (1 HR total), 13-11 L (5 HR total), vs. Oak- 8-4 W (1 HR total), 4-3 L (2 HR total), vs. Minn.- 7-6 W (3 HR total)
A few season stats from some of the stars:
Ortiz- .312, 6 HR, 19 RBI, 9 BB, 16 K's
Ramirez- 6 HR, 15 RBI, 8 BB, 23 K's
Schilling- 3-2, 2.66 ERA, 50 IP, 25 K's, .238 BAA
Beckett- 4-1, 3.65 ERA, 44 IP, 14 K's, .283 BAA
Team Pitching Stats:
Team ERA: 3.72
Team K's: 139
Team BB's: 25--Still an issue, but more than i actually thought
Team BAA: .273
HR's Against: 30-- this is interesting because it actually puts me 21st in the league in homers against. Right around where they should be i think
Team Batting Stats:
BA: .262
HR's: 32 (19th in the league)
SB: 5
CS: 10
Doubles: 49
TB: 409
BB: 59
K's: 246 (only behind Washington who has 256)
For the Bill James types:
OBP: .307
SLG: .409
OPS: .716
AB/HR: 31.25
Most glaring to me is the maybe i'm not seeing ENOUGH power from this lineup. Sure this could be a direct result of my mediocre ability.

due to someone here's suggestion, I switched to "Zone-2" pitching and it has made the game more enjoyable. I am no longer able to pinpoint my pitches like I could with "payoff". If you use a Interface speed of 80-100, it is much more challenging to hit your spots. I would suggest anyone who thinks pitching is too easy to give this a try.
