OMG! What a win by Liverpool at Barca! Cracker of a game that probably should've been a draw, but I'll take the 2 away goals and one goal lead :)

Oh btw, Bellamy scored the first (celebrating with a golf swing) and set up the second for erstwhile human golf tee John Arne Riise!

Riise scores a goal with his right foot at the Nou Camp. I've seen it all now.

:)

I'm absolutely made up. Can't wait for the second leg at Anfield!

Man, this whole thing with the ManU fans and the police at Lens is pretty scary:

Lucky as hell that it wasn't another Heysel or Hillsborough.

Take care,

What a disgrace. UEFA seriously needs to take action against Lille and everyone from their camp that was involved with the match.

For those of you who were watching the Carling Cup match today, that injury to Terry was just brutal. I thought he broke his neck at first. I hope it is only a bad concussion.

By the way, a brawl at the end of the game and two players on Arsenal have been thrown out and one Chelsea player (Mikel).

This game has been crazy.

BB

They have said that Terry started to swallow his own tongue. He is awake but very groggy.

Impressive. But nothing beats the ambience of La Bombonera.

PK, 'The Monumental' is a beauty of a stadium. Huge. I remember the shivers I had when I was at the WC in Argentina back in 78, when they won it all. Led by D. Passarela, M. Kempes, what a team by C. Menotti.

James:

My only beef is that the fans on the sides of the pitch are too far away from the pitch compared to La Bombonera because of the running track that encircles the pitch.

That's what I always loved about Highbury -- the fans in the front row were so close they could almost tap a player on the shoulder during a throw-in.

Take care,
PK

Looks like the a MLS team will actually advance in the CONCACAF Champions Cup today. DC United is up 4-1 on aggregate and Houston is down 1-0. Both are playing at home tonight. Hopefully, this means that the MLS teams are getting a little better.

Definitely. Not as close friendly and intimidating as 'La Bombonera' but when it comes to excitement and passion, nothing beats the fervor of a Boca-River-River-Boca rivalry.

Jimmy, this clip may not show all 55.000 and plus fans, but believe me, if you ever get the chance to visit 'La Boca', every single fan is dancing and singing.

Marred only by atrocious refereeing in the final, and the fixing of the game against Peru, of course.

United. Jammy f@cking bastards. Almost threw my remote at the TV.

At least YNWA ringing out at the end made me smile. And what a pansy 'punch' by Scholes. Too bad he didn't throw it at Sisoko; Momo would have knocked his f ucking block off.

Gutted! I was worried about that happening once our surge after halftime failed to yield a goal. I just kept thinking about the game at Old Trafford last year when we dominated but lost on Ferdinand's header at the death.

Scholes is one of the ManUre players that I begrudgingly respect, but that was a ridiculous move by him. I'm not sure why Rafa took Bellamy off for Pennant. Momo should've gone earlier, as an end to end game like that is not where we need his talents. I love him dearly, but he's a disaster with the ball at his feet in the offensive 1/3. Should've put Crouch on for him at 65' and moved Bellamy wide right.

Ah well. At least we didn't do Chelsea any favors :)

Liverpool dominated the match, no doubt. Ironic how MU scored in the only shot on target they had in the whole match. Scholes' expulsion was childish and stupid. Doing a 360 turn and throwing that punch in the air...I know how a Hockey player would deal with that. :)

If someone was trying to take a ride on the back of my jersey I would of done the same thing. Liverpool deserved no less than a point. On the same note Agger's challenge on Saha was a a penalty and I really didn't enjoy Kuyt's b*tching at Ronaldo after upending him as if he took a dive several times.

The U-20 WC draw took place today, and the USA is in a group with S. Korea, Poland, and Brazil, games to be played in that order. Brazil being the last game coule be good for us in that it might not matter to our getting through, or it could be killer if we need to win, or worse even, if Brazil somehow needs to win. Still, it'll be great to play Brazil in the tourney no matter when, as you know there will be eyes watching from all over the world. I sure hope ol' Rongen can get the boys playing their best at the right time. It's a huge advantage for us that the games are in Canada. We play the first two games in Montreal and then off to Ottowa for Brazil, so the MLS based players will have minimal travel, and the European based players will be very much at home as well. I wonder what they will do about the surface in Montreal? I guess FIFA has approved field turf, but I can't remember if the Olimpique has made that change or not. No matter what, it's odd playing soccer in a dome.

Hell, I may even decide to head up to Montreal for the two games. Maybe. Could be tons of fun!
