Who cares? The only people with less interesting, informed opinions than current athletes are retired athletes.

I know that he campaigned against Santo getting into the HoF, but that's the first I've heard of him slagging Ryno.

FWIW, I really do think that Morgan was the best 2b ever to play the game...but that's got nothing to do with his dubious opinions. He falls sqarely into the 99.9% of baseball "analysis" that I ignore as much as possible.

I was under the impression that he was widely reviled. Then again, that could have just been me projecting.

Says the bitter Cubs fan :)
I resemble that remark, of course. But I wasn't aware that Morgan's filthy verbal emissions were revolting only to Cub fans.
Lets just say I haven't met a Cubs fan yet who has liked Joe Morgan so it is just a jump to put 2 and 2 together. The good news is we get to listen too a few days about how Ron Santo didn't get into the hall again, that's always entertaining.

Wrigley at 1 pm is just georgous. I may have to do a franchise with my childhood favorite team instead of the hometown rangers.

Played my first full game, Cardinals vs Royals - I was on pro and saw 4 HR's robbed by the KC CF, I hope that's a difficulty issue as I had the speed boost turned off.

Presentation reminds me of NFL 2k5 and the game is quite fun so far, when pitching, it's pure nirvana.

Fielding balls in the infield is hard at times, but if I remember to let them start going towards the ball, I do fine... much like running the bases, just them run and take over when needed, they'll know where the ball is going to land in the OF.

So far, it's a fun game. I think last year's, The Show, was a tighter controlled game and much more fun fielding the ball, but the presentation was not as deep. We'll see after more MLB games, but this definitly reminds me of NHL 07 and NHL 2k7. :)

I've seen entirely too many robbed HRs and/or "Willie Mays" type catches in both the demo and now the real game, but it's not really bothering me much.

The presentation is indeed like NFL 2K5. It's really cool how you can view any replay from the play-by-play at any time. I also really like the ability to go into manage mode and then jump back in the game (although the load times would probably discourage me from doing this often).

Fielding sucks, but it is indeed better with the option to always show your fielder turned off. I really like the pitching, hitting (using the traditional method), and graphics. And you know how I feel about the IN GAME SAVE!!

Last season around this time I felt like 2K tried to literally steal my money because my disk didn't even work (thankfully I was able to return it for a full refund). So far, I actually have pretty high hopes for this version. It's funny because if this ends up as my top baseball game it will be the 5th straight year that I favored a different series...LOL (HH03,2K4,MVP, andn then The Show).

The pitching is so sweet in this game. I love the way the pitcher pump his fist after getting the strike out, it's such a smooth transition from the delivery to the celebration... awesome.

I'm REALLY digging this game. Pace is great & fun factor is very high after 5 complete games. My only negatives so far would be:

- The Willie Mays "no look" catches in the outfield. Have seen 5 of these in 5 games, one of them robbing a HR over the wall. (Not a game killer by any means.)

- The animations of the runners leading off is way too jumpy and is about the only animation that ruins the immersion factor.

- Ball tracking on HR's could be better.

- Hitting is HARD! 8)

After much debate, I picked up the game this afternoon and FINALLY got a chance to play this evening. I'm pleasantly impressed and genuinely excited about this game. I'm just amazed at how far this game has come in one year.

By turning off the fielder option, I am quite content now with the fielding camera angle. It'd still be nice to have more camera options, but it's not the game killer I thought it was going to be. In fact, it only took a few innings to adjust. I do wish the ball was bigger or brighter as it's sometimes difficult to pick it up right away. Fortunately, it helps that I can see the player almost immediately moving in the direction of the ball.

Pitching is just pure fun. I don't like to compare it to The Show as I'm still in the honeymoon period with 2K7, but the pitching in 2K7 just feels so much more immersive. With the catcher moving around the plate and calling signs, it makes for a great chess match. Do I go with his slider sign low and outside, or try and sneak a fast ball by the hitter down low? I love it!

Batting is equally as enjoyable. Now granted, I'm playing on default, but I really feel as though I can track the pitches fairly well. This hasn't been the case with past versions of the 2K series or The Show. In my first game against Florida, I rattled Dontrell Willis by taking a lot of pitches. In fact, he walked me twice in the first. He threw a total of 34 pitches in two innings as I was being exceptionally patient. The manager paid hiim a visit and he finally settled down after the second inning. In my game against the Cubs (which I saved IN GAME...WOOHOO), I went back to back against Zambrano with Edmonds and Duncan. After that however, Zambrano started pitching like...well....Zambrano.

So far, so good. I wasn't that impressed with the demo last night, but I really think the retail version is more polished.

What difficulty level are people gravitating towards? I'm trying to stick with All-Star but am currently getting murdered... very tough to strike out the CPU, not to mention keep the ball in the park.

I'm stuck on Pro right now...but I've lowered my hitting power because I'm hitting way too many homers right now. Like you, I was getting murdered on All-Star...maybe I'll go up to that level and just lower the CPU hitting a bit.

I LOVE the batter's eye and the hit stick. They make batting so much more fun than just pressing the buttons.

Has anyone seen the dirt that kicks up when an infielder makes a diving catch? They then pop up with dust all over their jersey... it looks incredible:)

For those of you that have the retail game and have played the demo, how different do you feel the two are? After putting in 15 innings into the demo, I have quite a few issues.

-I'm not going to walk anyone while pitching. Far worse than the Show, and I've tweaked all I can, I believe, by going to legend and increasing the pitching interface speed to 100. It's still way too easy to throw strikes constantly.

-The swing stick is 'okay.' I prefer more of the bat placement type of challenge available in other games compared to this strictly timing based stuff, but it's fine.

-It's very, very easy to make contact. Again, even on legend with pitcher difficulty on 95, I put the ball in play constantly, and many times on the first swing. I think I struck out once, maybe twice.

-And from that, I'm not getting anywhere close to the battles I get in the show as far as deep couonts, multiple foul balls, working a walk, etc. That kind of thing is perhaps my favorite part of hitting, and I don't see that much at all in 2k7

-I'm not really seeing a heck of a lot of hit variety, again, even compared to the show, which isn't fantastic in that area itself. I'm seeing mostly line drives to the center of the field, in an arc stretching from the 2nd base position to the shortstop. The CPU has hit nothing down the lines, and I have only by really trying.

-There is not a lot of 'weight' behind the hitting. Minor thing and a 'feel' one that doesn't mean much, but I noticed it.

-I agree that the fielding camera is pretty bad, but not as horrible as I was expecting. Fielding momentum is pretty overdone in the infield.

-I'm also seeing a lot of homeruns, both for and against. Especially for me. I shouldn't be doing this well on legend so soon. I think this game is going to have lots of long balls.

-I don't like that there doesn't appear to be a 'normal' swing. Lots of pops with the power swing, and lots of weak shots with the contact.

-Is there a way to see the handedness of the batters in the other team's lineup when making a pitching change, other than going into the player cards from the lineup screen and viewing them one by one?

-When you go back to the action from the management screens, the cpu pitcher sometimes pitches *immediately* Not a big deal, but a little annoying nonetheless.

-I think the graphics are pretty good, though the field seems super small.

-Although I said I didn't like the catcher calling the game in the show, I like trying to hit the catcher's target in 2k7. It's very fun in an arcade kind of way, and I like seeing my points going up from hitting the impact pitches. Probably my favorite part of the game.

I know some of this might be adjustable by slider delving, but it would be slider delving to a level to which I haven't descended in quite a while. Please let me know if any of these things have been changed in the retail version.

I've only played around two games of each, but so far the Show is much closer to the type of baseball game I prefer.

I'm not one for detailed players but they nailed Cardinals pitcher Anthony Reyes in this game! Loving the game so far...

I finally started playing on All Star and the game seems much better overall. I haven't seen a home run robbed yet (I do have that speed boost off) and the spectacular catches seem toned down. Pitching is much harder, and hitting is harder - as it should be.

Using "classic" hitting, I'm getting many different hits and striking out as well - especially against Shilling. :)

Is it just me or do they show you some nice graphics for the home team's fielding setup but nothing for the visiting team? I don't think I've ever seen them look at the visiting team's fielders by panning around the field. I hope I'm wrong here.

I can DEFINITLY tell Eckstein's arm from say, Edmonds. Fielding is getting better and easier by the game.

As much as I hate Dodger Stadium...damn that place looks awesome in the game...seriously photo-realistic. It's the best of the stadiums that I've tried out so far.

I'm going to bed, but I've read you can adjust the zoom from default (20) to (0) in the camera options and I think it helps with the pitcher and batter being so close.

I'll check it out tomorrow.

The game is actually better than I thought. Presentation is definitely improved as is the announcing, though The Show is still much better in the announcing catagory.

Still don't like the fielding very much. Several times, I missed routine grounders because my guy was so twitchy that I ran him past the ball. Same thing in the outfield.

Still a pretty solid effort considering how bad last year's version was. I'm sure I'll dump it as soon as The Show comes out on PS3, but it will definitely work as filler until then.

Well got the game at walmart and I've never played last years so I have a really werid feeling about it.

Main thing for me is I don't know how to play. I am use to baseball games where you can just jump in and play but this one has so many stuff going on in it I need to step back and find out the controls and other options.

Default Fielding camera is just plain aweful. It's like you're at a game and when there's a hit to the outfield, someone's smashed your hat down on your eyes. I took DB's advice and changed the option on the zoom player fielding or whatever it's called and it's gotten much better.

I also get a lot of wild pitches with runners on but maybe i am doing something wrong with pitching.

I am playing on my standard tv and notice no lag at all hitting. I just have to figure out how to hit, how to pitch, what are the controls to field, baserunning, etc.. I guess I have outfielder boost turned off so I will try to go ahead and turn that one.

One nice thing I noticed is they have a handful of old great teams. But I don't see any old stadiums right now. Presentation is great and even on my standard tv, the graphics look very nice.

I'm going to put in the show now. I think i'll have no problems with controls in that game.

added : I noticed it the game has in game saves.
