Xbox 360

Post by Jeff »

After many months of waiting I have finally decided to move to the nex-generation is game playing. Another BIG reason is so I can play the new MLB 2k7. I primarily play sports games, but also like shooters, racing, etc.

Question is...what recommendations could anyone give about maybe the top 2-3 "gotta have games" for the 360?

Thanks much.

Depends what kind of games you like.

Shooters:

Gears of War
Rainbow Six:Vegas

Sports:

NBA 2k7
MLB 2k7
Winning Eleven 2007

Racing:

Test Drive Unlimited

Strategy:

Battlestations Midway

That about sums it up.

Since this post is on the front page, I might as well mention that I've entered the current generation of consoles as well. I left the final decision up to my 11 year old son, who is pretty much able to kick his old man in everything but racing games.

He elected to go Xbox 360, which worked out well because I had a MS Company Store voucher from a briefing in Redmond a few months ago. We were able to start up our library with a few games at employee cost.

This is my first MS console following the Dreamcast, PS2 and GC. I'm very impressed by the textures even in low def. Gears of War is an amazing looking game. The other obvious advance for me is a small one. Why the h did I not buy a wireless controller before.

We'll probably be online as of tomorrow or so.

If you play primarily Sports games, I really enjoyed Topspin 2 and you can't go wrong with NHL 2K7 , WE 2007 and Tiger Woods 07.

Single-player fun:
Dead Rising
Crackdown
Oblivion (a must-have IMO)

Sports:
NHL 07
Winning Eleven 2007
You already mentioned MLB
Can't go wrong with one of the 2k hoops titles

Shooters:
Gears of War
Rainbow 6: Vegas

Misc. Online fun:
Splinter Cell: Double Agent (also cool in single-player)

Don't forget to post your gamertag in the sticky thread and send some invites out. If you're not planning on getting a gold membership you're going to miss out on a lot the 360 has to offer.
