MLB07-The Show vs. MLB2K7
OK...."Let's Get Ready To Rumble".......
Which game do you prefer and which are you going to stick with this year?
It's looks like it's going to be a very tough choice this year if you have both a 360 and a PS2. The demp of The Show07 plays great, but I wish it had more "interactive" controls. I am hoping that 2K7 will give me that, with the swing stick and the pitching interface.

I guess I'll chime in because I've had expereinces with both. I'll also set my infamous "delay" problems with MLB 2K7 aside and hope they will be rectified somehow with the settings on my TV.
The Show is a great game, IMO, but your enjoyment with this game will depend solely on how sick you are of the current engine. It is, by and large, a subtle refinement of the game we've all played the last few years. Improvements include more hit variety, more walks, better defense, more pitching and batting styles, etc.
MLB 2K7 is a breath of fresh air to some people. But it's in year one of a three-year renovation plan, so the series has some work to do in terms of smoothing out some of the rougher edges. It's still early, but I don't see it being quite on the same level as The Show gameplay-wise. But it's a beautiful game and it appears to play solidly.
I can see a comparison between NHL 2K7 and NHL 07. Those that wanted something different went with 07, while those that wanted the tried-and-true went to 2K7.

It sounds to me like The Show is the "purest's" choice. It looks and plays like real baseball. Where 2K7 is the fun-factor gamer's choice. It might have some faults, but offers more for the player to do with the swing stick and pitching interface. 2K7 sounds more like my game, but I am still having lots of fun with The Show07 demo for PS2. I just LOOOOVE the sound of the crack of the bat in that game. It is dead on. The crowd also sounds great. Sounds like 2K7 is a little lacking in the audio dept and that's a shame, since that is The Shows strong point.

Huh? How could it be the game to get? You have yet to see a screen or the game even in motion yet. It could be like NBA Live which was decent current gen, but a steaming pile of sh*t in the next gen. May not want to get ahead of yourself there.maddoc1979 wrote:I just wish we knew something about The Show for PS3.... It could be the game to get this year...just need to wait another month.

I haven't played 2k7 yet, but I'm on the complete opposite side of the fence with The Show. They've made so many under the hood improvements that I was looking for (and never expected them to make), this could be the first baseball game I've ever played that made me want to get a full 162 games in. I know that will never happen with the PS3 version right around the corner, but I'm going to enjoy the hell out of this one for the next month.dbdynsty25 wrote:The Show is just stale compared to 2k7...that's all there is to it. Every time I try to start up a game in The Show, I turn the system off a few innings in and go back downstairs to 2k7. I'll still play The Show on my PSP...but for a day to day game...it's gonna be 2k7 without a doubt thus far.
On a completely unrelated note, has anyone checked out manage only mode yet? It seems like they added a lot of improvements to that mode this year as well.

That's why I said it "could" be the game to get. That implies possibility, not assurance. Just like it "could" be like NBA Live, it "could" also be as good as last year's version.dbdynsty25 wrote: Huh? How could it be the game to get? What? From all I've read from people who played MLB 2k6, MLB 2k7 has many new surprises. Now, The Show on the ps2 is just a tightened up follow up from last year's great game.JackB1 wrote:I am kind of amazed at the lack of posts for both The Show and MLB2k7.
Usually the boards are flowing like crazy on "video baseball opening day".??? I wonder if it's because both games are kind of rehashed of last year's games without many surprises?
Played some and then did some reading.
Both games seem to be pleasing both crowds, EXCEPT it seems both games suffer horribly in franchise mode. I need to see how season mode holds up in both of these games.
There is one more game remaining and I think you'll see people start to place their hopes on The Show for the ps3 (those who have the console that is)
I think MLB 2k7 will be fine to play along a season with the real MLB - like I'm doing with NHL 07.

Well, there are several different threads focussed on the 2 baseball games. Maybe the posts are just spread out a little bit. The MLB 2K7 thread is like 15 or 16 pages long... if not longer.JackB1 wrote:I am kind of amazed at the lack of posts for both The Show and MLB2k7.

After getting past the stutter effect of THE SHOW, I like it very much. Builds on last years game and I really can get into it. It's really simple as that right now with MLB 07 THE SHOW.
MLB2K7, right now I am in an infancy stage with it. It for me is one of those games that when you know all the controls and facets of it, it maybe a really fun game to play. I probably need a weekend with this one when the kids are sleeping. I'd like to take the owners manual to work tomorrow and just read it if there's time.

That's why I'm going to stay away from 2k7 for a month or so. The Show seems to be the baseball game I've been looking for since I was a kid 25 years ago, and I know that, while great looking, 2k7 probably doesn't have the game of baseball nailed yet like The Show on PS2. I'm going to enjoy The Show for a month and then jump into next gen baseball with 2k7 and The Show on PS3 in April...should be a great summer for baseball gaming. God bless competition.dbdynsty25 wrote:If anyone wants The Show 07 for the PS2...I'm selling mine. $35 shipped in the US.
I haven't played The Show 07 yet (might rent it tonight) but after playing MLB2K7 I will be. 2K7 has been a disappointment to me. Its a beautiful game but the gameplay is just not doing it for me. My main complaint is the unresponsiveness. I just don't feel in control of things half the time. Its like they spent so much time wooing you with the look of the game that the user has been pushed to the side. I may be overstating that but its the way I feel. Many of the animations are super but many are also overdone (especially fielding). I'm hoping The Show (PS3) gets the job done (if it ever arrives) because 2K7 will get little playing time from me. Just my opinion...if you guys are liking 2K7 have at it

Well, I do usually wipe my ass with EA manuals since that is all they're good for.Leebo33 wrote:I brought my manuals to work today.Inuyasha wrote:I'd like to take the owners manual to work tomorrow and just read it if there's time.![]()
Here's where we can merge this thread with "Cellphones in the Bathroom"...

I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.

I keep seeing that posted about The Show and it may be true, but one of the first things I did with the game was turn off cpu trades and turn on "force trades"...could it possibly be something with the option settings?nyisles16 wrote:MLB "the Show" = no trades by CPU (no logic either as i was able to get Ichiro for Chad Cordero straight up)..
MLB 2k7 = TONS of trades

Played The Show most of the evening yesterday, and I was completely engrossed. Lots of variability in the games too. I exploded for 8 runs in one game with 4hrs and started to think I was getting too good, only to lose a two hit shutout the next game. Great stuff.
Yeah, there's somewhat of a deja vu feeling playing sometimes, but it plays just *right*. MLB 2K7 has a lot of promise, but the franchise has another year of tweaking to do for my tastes.
