You can also use the Y button to bunt if you use the swing stick.

When I pick it up, I'll have to see if there is an option (doubtful) to put bunting ONLY on the B button. One of the problems I was having with the swing stick in the demo was when I would push forward on the stick for a power swing, I'd end up clicking it due to rapid step/swing timing and I'd end up bunting for my troubles. Overall, I really dug the demo, although I'm striking out a ton with the swing stick... and that's on Rookie I think. I feel batting with the stick will have a considerably higher learning curve than MVP's. I find I'm missing the color flash indicator of that game when trying to pick up the rotation of the pitch.

Yeah, using the swing stick - I bunt many times. I finally stopped using this method. If you could remap the bunt, I think I'd be fine.

Doesn't appeal as much to me as the skill stick in NHL 07.

One thing that bugged me in the demo... I hit a two-run homer with Beltran and was treated to a curtain call... WITH DEAD SILENCE. So strange to see.

Also, I don' t know if they set it up this way, but I seemed to give up a home run to Molina almost every time I played. What terrible pain to relive.

So, is there really no defensive camera angle option or setting in the retail version too?

Is there at least one for batting?

I noticed the lack of crowd reaction in both the demo and vids on ign. Very annoying. If there is one part of presentation that i would prefer be the most accurate it would be crowd reaction. I can't stand when a baseball crowd doesn't cheer for a home team HR or win. It feels so crappy when a hockey crowd doesn't erupt in unison when a goal is scored. Why can't they get this stuff right. I don't know much about programming but it doesn't sound like it would be too difficult to get right.

since I'm stuck here at work, thanks for the impressions guys. I played the demo last night and noticed there are no practice swings. Is it the same in the final build?

Thanks for asking this...I haven't played the game or the demo, but I'm not sure I could enjoy a baseball game without practice swings. If my memory serves, MVP never had them either.

I picked up the game and so far it's great. It's going to take some time to get used to hitting. I don't see any issues with the fielding at this point, although it does appear to be tough on the infield. Outfield is a piece of cake...nothing wrong with it as far as I can tell. Game looks great, and most importantly it appears to have the fun factor. Can't wait to get into this alot more tonight. Game is very nice in all aspects!!!

Hey, the check swing guys! :) Have we heard from the homerun collision detection cadre yet?

It's all about pulling your bat back and watching your balls bounce for some people...

not check swinging, but prior to the pitch just getting a few practice swings in and helping with the timing.

Can someone test out the CPU AI as far as lineups go? I recal in the past couple of versions that the lineups would get severley messed up as the season went on. Things like Manny Ramirex leading off and such. Also, the fantasy draft logic was a mess. Some NL teams would draft 3 first baseman after 6 rounds.

Just played an ONLINE game with RallyMonkey, and while it was mostly smooth as silk there was one rather comedic issue:

Joe Morgan likes to give away your pitch locations - ALOT! You'll be setting up a 1-2 pitch on the outside corner and just getting ready fire when he'll chime in "and <catcher> is lining up outside and down around the knees" or whatever. So, you need to shake off that pitch and choose another, then be sure to pull the trigger again before he decides to tip off the batter.

It's honestly pretty funny. We got to a point where it was a mind-game if you actually threw it where he said or not, since you can easily move your pitch location. Nonetheless, it's like having Madden tell the players on field "here's what you need to do to win, I know because I'm looking at the other guys playbook; it's not cheating because I'm giving them your playbook as well!".

My timing on batting was woefully bad; not sure if it was online latency or just that I suck, but I felt better about making contact when playing offline.

I was thinking that might be a problem when tried the demo. I guess you could just turn commentary off for online play. Pretty funny though. It's as if each batter came up with a tiny radio in their helmet and were listening to the game to get an edge.

I resemble that remark, of course. But I wasn't aware that Morgan's filthy verbal emissions were revolting only to Cub fans.

In the demo the guys seem to struggle in their commentary and almost st-st-stutter. That was kind of annoying.
