KTRS 550, home of the Blues is reporting that both Bill Guerin and Keith Tkachuk have been informed by Blues management that they are going to be traded in the near future. Not a suprise but I guess the players don't have to worry anymore, they know they are moving. Tkachuk was also held out of practice today.

Andy Strickland reported Tkachuk was held out of practice because of an injury. Keith suited up, but the club told him to take the day off. Strickland only referred to it as a bruise because the Blues organization doesn't want word to get out about it. I guess it's too late for that.

not really but the strongest rumors have involved one of them going to Detroit. Atlanta and Carolina have been rumored as well for one or the other but there is no doubt that Blues management has been in contact with Detroit. Not really sure what the Wings or Canes really have to offer us so that worries me a little bit on the return. I prefer a deal with Buffalo, Anaheim, or even Atlanta.

there are some conflicting stories going on in St. Louis about that right now because he did suit up for practice today but the Blues just told him to take the day off. If Tkachuk really is hurting, Strickland won't be held in high standards with JD after reporting it, especially if the Blues wanted to keep it quiet. Of course it would have to be disclosed before a trade anyway, but the rumor is it's a bruise related to a slash from the Columbus game last night. The Blues are off until sunday night so it makes sense to keep him out of practice.

I expect both to be traded before Sunday nights game for sure. No way that managment will risk injury to both of them with only one game for the Blues before Tuesday's trade deadline. I really expect both of them to be dealt tomorrow. It just seems to make sense.
Sort of like Christmas right now...we know we are getting something, just don't really know what. I'm holding out for prospect Bryan Little and picks from Atlanta for at least one of them.

As a reporter, Strickland shouldn't give much of a sh*t about his standing with JD, especially if JD is trying to withhold information and prevent Strickland from doing his job.

Strickland is doing his job, reporting the news. Good for him and St. Louis fans.

E. Cole tore a muscle in his hip area and will be out for four weeks. Tough luck for Cole as he was injured last season too heading into the playoffs.
Either of the Blues' players would fit that void if GM J. Rutherford can afford to. Dougie Weight (albeit an expensive rental) worked for him last time from St Louis.

Yeah it could happen but the Cane's best prospects are at defense and in goal. The Blues are strong in the net and really need some young forwards. I'm sure we'll be getting a defensemen though in one of the trades. I doubt that Carolina would cough up roster player like Andrew Ladd and their best offensive prospect is Bobby Hughes. I'm really hoping that we don't deal with Carolina at this point.

Brewer for Raffi Torres and a pick. It's all yours, St. Louis! :)

All hell broke loose in the Sabres-Senators game after Chris Drury was hit in the head by a shoulder/elbow. The hit was late and should have been called a penalty, and also a misconduct for intent to injure, in my opinion. I guess the refs' eyes were following the puck.

Great Leafs-Isles game, in shootout now.

Sundin almost pulled off another move like he did against the Oilers last weekend (skate out from behind the net with two players draped on him, and put it in).

And the Leafs lose, not surprisingly. Their shootout performances leave something to be desired.

Good thing the SO isn't in the playoffs, but wait, the Leafs don't look like they will be either, with dropping big point games they're winning 2-0 for 2/3 of the game.

Tucker should be back fairly soon, then followed by Wellwood, and Peca's telling everyone he'll be back at the end of the season and even went so far to say that he'll definitely be back for the layoffs. That's rich.

That was a very good donnybrook. The best part was when goalies Biron and Emery squared up, and then Buffalo goon Peters jumped in. He and Emery exchanged punches, with Emery laughing the whole time.

That takes some brass, and Ray threw them as well as he took them.

Then I thought coaches Ruff and Murray were going to go. Man, were they jawing! Ruff would have killed Murray, though. Lindy still looks like he could land them like he did in his playing days.

Epic. Old time hockey! And the best thing is about this scrap? These two teams play each other again Saturday night in Ottawa! Time to set the DVR ... :)

"Finished his check" my ass. Neil attacked the head of a player who no longer had the puck. How long does the puck have to be gone before hits like that are called interference?

The Flyers and Senators had a 12-man brawl like that a few years ago. I think that fight was about an Ottawa player swinging his stick two-handed right on to Mark Recchi's face which fortunately was protected by a visor.

Apparently Big Georges Laraque is on his way to the Penguins. I believe the deal will be announced after the Coyotes game tonight.

My 8-year-old daughter will be stoked. She has grown to love the Pens, mainly because of Crosby, but she also knows how much I love Laraque. Both my 6-year-old son and I have autographed pictures, with personal inscriptions to each of us, hanging in our bedroom and office, respectively. The guy even personally answered two e-mails I sent him. No, I wasn't stalking him. :)

Georges is a quality guy. Very quality. Glad he's going to a team that can make a run for the Cup.

Mmm, not sure about that. That was a very close play. Gary Galley was right: Drury was a bit busy admiring his pass when he should have been more aware of Neil.

Close call, but I don't think it was blatant interference.

I would have to see better footage to see exactly how long the puck was gone, but it seemed like a late hit when I first saw it, and I think it was a clear attempt to injure and that could have been penalized on its own.

I've never understood the 'finishing your check' explanation. The word 'finishing' implies that the players were in fact engaged before the contact in question, yet nearly every time I hear the term used it's in relation to a late hit on an unsuspecting, blindsided player.

Doesn't matter to me though. Anytime someone makes a hit like that which has nothing to do with the play and with such blatant attempt to injure it's a dirty play, 'legal' or 'illegal' in my mind.

Ahh, nothing better than an old fashion Brou-ha-ha. Emery did very well in his tilt with Biron but where was OTT's tough guy when Peters challenged Emery? Screw that, although he held his ground very well against one of the toughest guys in today's NHL, he could have also been injured badly, miss the playoffs etc. And no one from OTT jumped in to stop Peters. Bring the instigator rule back!

With Murray's 1200th game, he should have just jumped in and get involved. I mean he was right on an edge, he could have fallen to the ice, hurt himself. I think L. Ruff will be penalized, he clearly sent his troop to go after OTT's best players after the incident.

Can't wait for SAT's rematch...
