Is this guy for real?
Just happened upon Jim Rome on the radio.
He was reading a letter complaining about "Carla" Pavano stealing $10 million from the Yankees the past couple of years because of all these injuries.
Then Rome said, I think referring to his show, that he doesn't call athletes by female names, that he doesn't "roll" that way.
This is the same guy who came to national prominence by calling Jim Everett "Chrissie" and then cowering when Everett loomed over him, isn't he?
But Rome and guys like Stephen A. Smith make names for themselves by running off their mouths and being audacious.

That was your first mistake.wco81 wrote:Just happened upon Jim Rome on the radio.
I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.
My time is water down a drain.

He was being sarcastic. You're just as gullible as the guy on Monday who thought Rome was being serious when he said he was starting a foundation for Cock Fighting...and a guy a few years back that thought he was serious when he said he hoped his new baby would grow up to be a stripper. Geeze. Are you all really that dense?

I'd like to personally welcome you back to society, as you clearly must have been living under a rock if you don't think radio hosts like to run their mouths.wco81 wrote:But Rome and guys like Stephen A. Smith make names for themselves by running off their mouths and being audacious.

I was actually working in the Studio when the "Chris Everett" incident went down. It was crazy. The next day the parking was filled with news vans.wco81 wrote:Nah I don't have such a finely-honed sense for sarcasm from listening all the time to such a great wit.![]()
Rome does seem to be the kind of guy who would say such things with a straight face.
Does he even bring up that incident over a decade afterwards?
Anyway, he doesn't talk about it anymore unless a caller or guest brings it up. What else could say about it considering it was 11 or 12 years ago...
I rarely agree with him, but that's kinda why people listen.

Rome is hilarious. I listen to his show for 45 mins on my way to school in the morning and I love it. Yeah he is obnoxious and cocky but I don't understand why that is such a big deal. He is just a radio host so you can either listen to him crack a few jokes about porn stars and sports personalities or turn the dial. I do hate all the "clones" that call in though, sometimes they say some funny stuff but most of the time they just suck.
