Not completely wrong, but there is a dedicated Wii thread that everyone has been using for games:

Well, if I've got my choice, I'll take your 360. I'll pm you with my address, and hell, I'll even pay for shipping. :D

In all seriousness I haven't tried a shooter on the Wii yet because I've heard Red Steel sucks ass, I have no interest in Far Cry, and I've already got COD3 on the 360. I will likely check out my first shooter when Metroid is released.
I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.

I have COD3 for Wii, and it's okay. The controls weren't as natural as I hoped, though they do work really well on the tank levels. It's fun but nothing great. Once I got started playing GoW and Vegas though, I have barely touched COD3, so that should answer your question.

Well, I returned CoD for the Wii when I saw that it was basically single player only.

In this day and age, how does anyone successfully sell and market a single player shooter?

Where are the January 2007 NPD numbers? It's past the middle of February already, and I still can't find any numbers. It won't affect my purcahsing decisions, but I am curious as to how the various consoles are selling post-Christmas.

They were due out yesterday, but I haven't seen a single link to them. Must be M$ paying some people off to make some switched to thier figures ;)

Naa, I think retailers were too busy writing up their request for funds from Sony for the units they had on their shelves throughout the month :)

Should be very interesting to see how many consoles Nintendo got into the marketplace--I'm expecting it to be lower than I originally thought.

I almost broke down today...I was out looking to buy a PS3 and saw the Comp USA in Skokie had a store closing sale and bought a 22" flat wide PC monitor instead. WoW is looking prettier and prettier.

For all you in Chicago area....They have 10% of of all 360 games and accs...10% of all PCs, monitors, printers, games...

Saw this on gameinformer: http://www.gameinformer.com/News/Story/ ... .57890.htm

80 bucks more than a premium for a bigger hard drive and HDMI.

I'm not surprised considering that I see PS3s in stock in every store I visit.

I see em all the time too.
What I dont see are the games that would push me into buying one.

It is good to see Nintendo kicking ass.

On xboxic.com there was an interesting report today:
According to German site cynamite, debug 360’s have been given a software update by Microsoft that slows down the disc drive speed, meaning playing games is quieter.
I would love to see this happen in regular 360 machines - if it is possible. I have 2 issues with my DVD drive spinning at top speed - it is noisy, and in the case of my box, the drive gets so hot that after an hour of gaming if I want to switch games, I have to wait 10 minutes for the drive to cool down enough to be able to read discs again.

Sony is apparently pulling the Emotion Engine hardware from their European PS3s to save some cash.

http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20070223-8912.html

They'll be going the software emulation route.

This seems like scrambling.

They planned to remove the hardware. Software emulation wasn't ready for the US/Japan launch.

But supposedly, with software, it may be possible to play PS2 games with some enhancement.

Maybe they're using 65 nanometer Cells already.

But they're charging a lot in the UK, supposedly because retailers demanded margins. So there may be some people who go across the Channel to buy it on the Continent.

Yet some retailers in the UK are reporting good preorders. Maybe it's the bundled Casino Royale or something.

These "enhancements" include FEWER PS1/PS2 BC games than the US/Japan machines. Unbelievable that Sony has the balls to charge European users more for less....

Whats next? A surcharge for the BR drive?

Fairly clever song/shot at Sony: http://thelastboss.com/post.phtml?pk=2287

Personally, I am really loving my 360 right now. Even my Wii has had a lot of alone time recently.

The review for Far Cry on X play seriosly freaked me out, it is worse than anything ever made LOL.

The Wii is surely not made for FPS games that require a good graphics card or chipset.

Well I haven't bought any additional controllers so I guess I'll wait for the new design with rumble.

Nice to have but really hope Sony didn't reward Immersion with more than what the court ordered. Immersion seems like patent trolls.

People protecting their patent's are now trolls?

What I see here is Sony realizing and fixing one of the many mistakes they have made with the PS3, good for them.

The good news for Sony is that MS squandered their opportunity to seal this geenration with an unreliable product and a push for something most people won't even use (Windows Live).

IIRC, when Immersion reached a deal with MS, MS took an equity stake and then they went after Sony on this claim.

This is suspiciously like the SCO case, where MS essentially gave them money to litigate against IBM for using Linux and Linux in general.

There is the RIMM example of course, where NTP extorted over half a billion and it turns out NTP never made any product, just knew how to play the patent game.

A company just formed called MP3 Technologies (the address for which is a law firm) is suing Apple and some other MP3 player companies for some patent it acquired just recently. Patent was just awarded by the US PTO in 2002.

We end up paying more because of the messed up patent system and litigation.

Sony may not increase the price of the new controllers with rumble. But they might have cut the price, if they didn't have to pay out in this case.

In general, I do have distaste for frivolous litigation in the patent realm, but I definitely dig Immersion as I recall having both a flightstick and a steering wheel for PC with their tech and APIs, must be around 1998 and they exhibited some of the best implemented FF effects to this day, IMHO.
