What a fantastic sweet game the PS2 version is. Playing as Fulham in the ML with kits and updated rosters and Dempsey in my midfield is soccer nirvana.

I am playing on professinal dificulty and I find it working extremely well.

Between this and MLB 07 my Ps2 will be busy this year.
PP,

What option file are you using? The one Feanor converted?

To be honest, I am not sure. I kept getting an error when loading both his and PSE Crazy's when I saw that an option file made it to my sharkport PC saves.

I freaking just lost to Sheff U 3-2 after holding a 2-0 lead 75 minutes into the game. Kabba nailed me twice in 5 minutes and Hulse bagged the winner....UGGGH!

There shouldn't be any password, you should just have to click past the ad and then download the first file. Here's a a direct link:

Here's a new link to the PES 6 Tricks & Skills thread. There are two videos there to check out, one under Dribbling Moves and one under Shooting Moves.

Got the game and played a few and I like it.

One question I did have is did they not put in create a team feature like last year's xbox/ps2 version? Any way to edit a team?

You haven't been reading this thread?

You can't edit the 360 version...just tiny things like names and stuff like that...that's all.

Thread was too long :)

Well, now I am thinking about getting last years xbox version and returning the 360 version. 360 plays well, but I just need those edits.

I can't get over games not having editors at this point.

I have not played a soccer game since WE:8 on the XBOX. Since I have the urge to pick one up now, should I find/buy a copy of WE:9 or should I pick up PES 2007 for the 360? It sounds like WE:9 is the better game from what some of you are saying. Would this be your recommendation? Thanks!

I'm liking the 360 version more and more that I play it now. Graphics are nice and I like the gameplay. Not a huge soccer fan or gamer, but the game on the 360 to me seems like it's a little simple for the non-avid Soccer gamer. So it's suiting me right now.

If you want the create/edit teams though, go with last years version.

My feeling would be that if editing team names and kits is more important to you than gameplay, choose the old-gen version, but if gameplay is the most important thing, go with the 360 game. The differences in gameplay in the next-gen version, though there are plenty of rough areas that lack the polish of the old-gen game, are deep and very real and go far beyond the upagrade to 720p graphics.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

I've had PES 2007 sitting on my counter unopened since last week when I grabbed it for $39 on sale. However, after reading some reviews, the comments here and at OS, I wasn't sure which way to go.

I don't really care about all the league names or how much I can edit player names, as I don't know who all the players are anyway. I just want to have fun playing some soccer to hold me over until the baseball games are released!

The fake player names were driving me bananas, so I went through and edited all of them to the real equivalents based on the excellent listing on GameFAQs. I've posted the XChange360 file on the DSP Cup site at http://laack.net/wepes/. If anyone is brave enough to give it a try, please let me know if you get it to work.

I am getting tired of the CPU dominating the in-box play, particularly on set pieces. Any suggestions on how to at least get in the way of some of the CPU's headers? Another frustration is the stumbling animation my players always seem to go into every time I'm battling the CPU for a ball.

Man, I'm really glad I bought the 360 version! I'm having a lot of fun with it offline. I've had fun in the two online matches so far (even though I haven't scored!). Why did they take out the 20 minute option online? 15 is too short!

You need to assume control of a player in the box. I typically move into position between the CK or FK taker and the 6-yard box. I just react to the trajectory of the pass and leap early to intercept. Some corners will just be impossible to stop, but I clear more than my share that way.

The best way to avoid stumbling is to use the short step button to keep the ball at the feet of the ball-handler. Much depends on the skill of the player, but oftentimes you can skate through challenges that way.

It seems in the 360 version, you have to switch players at the last moment to have a better chance of becoming the right guy. Other defenders don't seem to do as much when you hold the X-button as they used to in older versions. Even so, sometimes the defenders wait on the ball rather than attacking it, but I've had more success when I switch players while the ball is on its way. You can also move the player from his 'I'm in the right place for that ball' spot, super-cancel style, by holding the R-trigger, but personally I have more of a chance of screwing up when I do this. It could help in drastic situations, though. I don't know that the CPU has an advantage here as much as offensive players seem to, excepting maybe those defernders who have good jump and header ratings. Side backs, I find, tend to be very poor at muscling for and/ or attacking the ball in the air when defending.

The stumbling thing goes both ways, but I think the CPU reacts to it quicker and better. It drives me crazy that some button presses can be charged up like a week ago (eg. when I play a ball back to the keeper under pressure, I can hold the B-button but sometimes I must've hit an A-button in there, because he'll just pass it on the ground, and of course right to a striker), while some passes and shots are negated by a slight nudge at just the right time. Things like this indicate to me the degree to which this is a first effort of a new engine, and I'm sure we will see this tweaked and refined in future 360 and PS3 versions.

Overall, though, I am finding the degree of ball control (or lack thereof) and the influence of body position, body balance, body momentum, ball momentum, etc. to be much greater than in the old-gen version. This seems to result in bad players being much worse than they used to compared to good players. I didn't score a goal with my default ML stiffs in the first half of my season on Top Player, and proceded to get 6 new starters (at least) in the transfer period. Voila, first game after the break I win 3-0 and have now won two games on the trot with these better players. They aren't top players by any stretch, but they are at least competent, which I could not say for the default bozos. Game seems much harder to me than old-gen versions were, and as usual, the addition of decent (and soon to come good) players into my ML squad really shows off the quality of the gameplay engine.

The PSP version is my gaming disappointment of the new year so far. I knew it was going to be lacking in features, but I'm not real happy with the gameplay either. The wide view really isn't wide enough and there is a ton of slowdown anyway. The analog nub control seems worse than last year as does the AI. I also had a freeze tonight. My PSP didn't lock up, but two players got stuck in the "shield" animation and just stood there as the clock ran. I couldn't change players or anything.

after a week or so with the ps2 version, I like this game quite a bit, more than I expected. it's more fun to play against the cpu b/c my teammates actually make runs and move around, unlike WE9, which tended to get tedious at tougher levels.

it appears there's more emphasis on player skills, and that's a good thing. using different players who have different attributes will keep it fresher longer.

shooting seems tougher. I've missed lots of sitters, but maybe I need to use R2 when shooting more than on WE9. CPU seems to have better AI also on this version. I had the cpu run to the corner flag and sit on it with a late lead, something I've never seen in a WE game. I duly slidetackled him from behind...

It's only available to European accounts. I think some people created a silver acct. with an English address and phone # or something in order to get access to it. Why they wouldn't bother to make it available to the NA customers is. . . oh yeah, it's Konami!

Man...after playing 4 versions of the game...it's painfully obvious which is the best version. PS2 wins hands down. The PC version is a close second...followed by the 360 and PSP versions. The PS2 game is just so much more polished and fluid, it really distinguishes itself. The 360 version will likely be VERY good next year with another year of polish...but for this year, I'll stick with the PS2 and PC versions of the game...they are just better.

I usually hit the sprint button (R1) right before I shoot, and I can get some powerful shots on goal. However, you also need to be controlling someone with the appropriate skill level.

You get the same reaction that Anna Nicole Smith's death does...

for real? in previous WE games, holding R1 and shooting makes it worse, not better. I always let off of R1 before I shot for accuracy. I'll try it, but I'm skeptical.

shooting from the edge of the 18-yard box seems to be more successful in this version. I've scored half my goals on those so far.

What's funny is that the only time you can type a coherent statement is when you're copy/pasting. Good work.
