On an aside, I'm listening to the Oil-Nucks on CHED, and it sounds like a nasty, chippy game. Stortini apparently just LEVELED Krajicek.

Of all the f*cking games for Center Ice not to show in my area because there are 12 games on simultaneously, and my cable system only has 10 channels reserved for Center Ice!

PK, it's chippy allright. Stortini and Cowan went at it during the first period, they were a couple of good hits on either side. 'Nucks scored on another PP and the Oils tied it up as VAn has a horrible line change with J. Hughson doing the uusal commentary for Vancouver.

Don't understand why Center Ice screwed up this game for you.

Far from over, and a lot at stakes for both teams. From what I heard, Slats offered Mess the position last year but of course he wasn't ready for it. Wishful thinking like you said PK, but you never want to bet against the Moose.

Time Warner Central New York showed Montreal-Carolina tonight in French but didn't show the Oil and Vancouver. I called customer service and gave them an earful.

Well, 95% is a bit high, but it is harder to pull a blockbuster deal these days with the current salary cap and all. For example, did any team claim S. Samsonov yet? If not, are you really surprised? His tag is 3.5 per, not many teams have that cap available. And now he demands a trade? Hmmm, nice try but how about going down to your farm team in Hamilton?

Heard of the other Russian A. Mogilny? He's a classic example of a guy being overpaid and playing in the minors and if he wants to paid that much the only way to get his money is to play for NJ's AHL team as no other NHL team is taking any further risks with him.

yeah. i agree on the cap.

but i thought for sure somebody would try to get samsonov. at least swing a deal where the habs would pay a %.

Calgary continues to makes some changes to their roster. They pick up coveted D-man B. Stuart from the Bruins in exchange for B. Ference and they also swap forwards. Stuart has a lot of potential, a good point man but he's an UFA at the end of the season.

Good win for the Canucks as the beat the always dangerous ATL team with Kovalchuk and CO.

How about those kids in PIT. They are a HOT team now.

Man, Jordan Staal is on fire. 23 goals (5 SH) and his +14 leads the Penguins. He's scored 9 goals in his last 13, including 5 games in a row.

F*ck. Another point man lost by the Oil. Maybe Lowe will start to focus on Corvo in Ottawa now.

Then again, if the Oil doesn't rip up this upcoming seven-game road trip, Edmonton will be sellers and not buyers since it will be out of the playoff hunt. It sort of sucks that two of the three or four hottest teams in the NHL -- Minnesota and Vancouver -- are in the same division as the Oil.

Silly hot, and it's not all Crosby, either. Many analysts said around Christmas that the Pens will be dangerous in the upcoming seasons if this nucleus can stay together.

Yeah they said on last nights broadcast that people in Canada are comparing this Penguins team to the Edmonton Oilers dynasty with all of their young talent, if they come anywhere close to that I will be extremely happy. Staal has been an amazing player here since day one with his defensive play and now that he is scoring goals regularly he's got to be a top candidate for rookie of the year.

Staal's a hot candidate, but it's hard to overlook Geno (Malkin). He's even better defensively than Staal and has 27 goals.

Would be no surprise if Pittsburgh has the top two in the Calder voting this year. But you can't forget Kopitar in LA, either. That kid has been the most impressive player on the ice every time I've seen the Kings play this season.

It should be a tight Calder race between Malkin and Kopitar.

The Flyers won their first game at home since the day after Thanksgiving, beating St Louis 4-3 in OT. It was a great relief, even if it's irrelevant in the standings whether they got 1 point or 2.

Forsberg is sposed to be meeting with the owner today.

He won't win the Calder but he's a prime candidate for the NHL Cy Young

Very similar indeed. I remember the 80's when Gretzky, Messier, Andersson, Lowe and Co grew up together and went through the thick and thin of making it in the NHL. Of course the rest is history as they became a dynasty team. This young PIT's team has gone through the growing pains the last 2 seasons and with Malkin this year and Staal they are starting to form the formidable team that it's on paper. You look at their age, they are all around the same and they'll be good, very good.

One thing will be different that the Oilers of the 80's and early 90's is the salary cap. It'll be a miracle to keep that young nucleus together. But while they are together, they better take full advantage this season and the next.

Err, take it from an OIler fan living in Ottawa who's been to 10 Sens games....

We don't want Corvo. His confidence is in the sub sub basement. I don't see him bringing anything to the Oil at all, unless he miracously recovered after a trade!

Corvo looks like Chris Pronger moving the puck out of the Oilers' zone compared to Bergeron, Smith, Smid, Hejda and Greene. Staios is the only Oilers' defenseman playing conistently worth a sh*t.

I have not seen an NHL team this season worse than the Oil at moving the puck from its zone to the neutral zone. Simply awful, although that part of their game was better last night against Atlanta.

How about L. Nagy going today to DAL for M. Tjarnqvist and (here's my shock) a 1st rounder. Is he worth that much? Also an UFA at the end of the season.

If that's the going rate for forwards, maybe what I'm hearing about the Flyers requesting a 1st, 2nd and a top prospect for Forsberg isn't so unreasonable after all.

And if we're talking about bad trades, it's time to trot out Mad Mike's trading record;
-McCabe, Bertuzzi, and 3rd Rounder(Jarko Ruutu) to the Canucks for Linden
-Chara, Bill Muckalt, and 1st Rounder(Jason Spezza) to Senators for Yashin
-Olli Jokinen and Roberto Luongo to Florida for Parrish and Kvasha

It's hard to even figure which is the worst among those three alone.
