I wouldn't say the ads sucked. Maybe not as good or memorable as other years, but they were far from sucking. In general I would say most of them were good, although some didn't work for me.
It's funny, no one here has mentioned the ad the agency I work for put out during the game. The feedback the bigwigs around here are claiming they're getting makes it seem like we really knocked it out of the park, which surprises me because I thought it was only okay, certainly nothing as great as they're making it out to have been.
And the fact that nobody here has even mentioned it tells me all I need to know about what you guys thought of it.

I hope it wasn't the Sierra Mist ads. The idea of functioning adults going out of their way to discuss and covet Sierra Mist... it hurts my brain. That seems to be the new school of beverage advertising though, isn't it? Just give it undue levels of importance, with grown men scheming for Bud Light as if it were in any way scarce and even animals getting in on the alcohol appreciation game. I find it all really weird.
No, it was the Blockbuster Video ad for ordering movies online, where the talking animals (stop rolling your eyes) were playing with the "mouse" (who didn't want to be plugged in).
Like I said, I thought it was okay, the end was kinda cute, but to hear some folks around here gush about it, makes me wonder.

Yeah, the little pet shop animals living across the street from the video store have been around for a while now. They only seem to come out for big TV events. Not sure how effective they are though. Apparently they're more effective than you or I would think, because Blockbuster keeps sinking money into them.Slumberland wrote:Oh, the Blockbuster one! To be honest, I felt like I was in a time warp when I saw that one. Didn't that campaign debut five or so years ago, and then disappear for a while?

Talking animals. No offense, but there's a novel concept in advertising. Never seen that before.
Take care,
