Quick aside - the broadband fairy shall be visiting my house next Friday, so provided the connection is strong enough for me to run GPL online properly, I wouldn't mind getting involved in any subsequent seasons if there's room for me.
Ditto for me, my new Verizon/DirecTV connection has me DL'ing 40.6 Meg videos in about 2 mins tops!
For me this is revolutionary, this is why we are waiting on WOW and any new PC games (my son and I see a revolution comin'!)
Yeah, when I hooked up this connection I was flipping out. Downloads 1.2 MB a second, so I'm downloading 3 Gig files in about 30 mins. It's insane. Typical 50 meg movie on IGN takes under a minute...maybe 2 seconds to buffer if it's streaming.
Well, put in some practice time and dropped my best time to a mid 1:30 at Monaco. This means undoubtedly that Terry is into the 28s or 29s range
One thing we all need to do at Monaco is NOT tailgate. There is too much chance of an accident taking out several cars. Even if you're lapping a car, he might mess up at that chicane and take out the leader. So it's generally good to really use discipline at Monaco and not overdrive the car or put it in a situation where you have no room to correct.
Race #2 of the 11-race 1967 season is tonight at 10:30 p.m. (EST) at Monaco. We will use Don's server.
Rules
-- Fifteen-minute combined practice and qualifying session.
-- A race that lasts in the 30- to 40-minute range. Since laps at Monaco average about 1:30-1:35 for most, we're looking at around 20 laps.
-- Novice damage.
-- "Common sense" rule regarding passing into first turn of first lap. Don't stick your nose under someone in close proximity to make a dumb move that takes out half the field in Turn 1. If you pass someone off the line before the first turn or someone goes off or very high in the first turn, pass them. Otherwise, hold station until after the first turn.
-- Obey the blue flags. If you're about to get lapped, get the hell off the racing line as soon as possible and let the faster cars through.
Don also will be in charge of posting the stats from the race. I will post Drivers and Constructors points standings.

Let me make a few recommendations about Monaco following pk's comments.
The most hair raising part of the track is easily the chicane. If you're off the right line at all, you'll clip either the left or right, rip the car around in circles, and undoubtedly wreck anyone hot on your tail.
So I recommend that this NOT be the point on the track where you want to be applying pressure to someone in front of you. The odds are just too good they'll make the mistake that you want, and end up taking you both out.
You can apply pressure just about anywhere else on the track and they might slide wide and you can sneak through.
The other note about the chicane is that there are two ways through it: Fast and scary, or slow and safe. A bit of a lift and slowing to set it up to go through it is often done by racers who would rather finish the race clean than wreck trying to post a fast lap. That means that a guy trailing behind who is used to going through much faster needs to figure out what the habits are of the guy ahead. Does he slow for the chicane? How much? How consistent? For everyone's sake, please figure this out before you take your OWN path through the chicane after someone.
Monaco is won by patient and disciplined drivers who look for opportunities, not those who try to make something happen when it won't. It can be a really great, intense race, or it can be a wreckfest. It's up to all of us to make sure it's the former.

My wife thought she has a cold; instead she has the flu that kept me flat on my back for almost five days. She is horizontal. Thought an afternoon nap might help, but she's still on the canvas.
So I had to stop work early and play Mr. Mom, getting the older kids to and from after-school activities, watching the wee one, doing laundry, cooking dinner and going grocery shopping tonight.
Bottom line: I'm in the midst of a time-sensitive project for work, so I need to jump back on it after the kids go to bed tonight due to the time lost today at work.

You know, guys. If there's enough people that either are not healthy or have been unable to practice, I have no problem with postponing this race for a week.
I don't think we're in any major HURRY or anything. If ya'll want to either postpone the race or just do a non-points-paying fun-race at Monaco, we could do that, or nothing at all.
I'm cool with that. I don't like the idea of several drivers not being there.
Guys, I am sorry to say that I will have to step out. I just found out I have to take Grandpa to his American Legion meeting.
I apologize, this shouldn't be a regular occurence...since his meetings are once a month anyways...but he has been on some antibiotics and he can't drive because of them.

So should we just do a pickup non-points race for those that can make it? I am cool either way. Server is currently set for Monaco and last weeks track to loop. I have been working on my GPL Monster Rank (times for all seven original 67 cars at all seven original tracks) so this could give me the chance to get in some time in the other cars.
Just let me know, otherwise I will keep the server as is for now.
I agree with Randy, I want as many people in a race as possible for the points race and I am not in a hurry to finish the season. More important to keep the GPL love going if possible.
Nonetheless, I'm also in favour of a non-points race for tonight. I need to gain more experience racing with real people. Monaco is definitely the right place for newbies like me to gain experience, even if it's done the hard way.
This must be a continental plague, as I caught the flu last Thursday night and only now am starting to come out of it. Unfortunately, my wife has it, too, and my two sons also are getting over being sick. My daughter is bulletproof!
