I've seen some recent articles on this, and the Preds owner is claiming the fan support is there, but the corporate support in Nashville has completely dried out. Supposedly the upper bowl in Nashville is routinely packed, but the lower bowl with the expensive seats usually sold to businesses sit vacant.

Speaking of injuries, all of the sudden R. Kesler is out for the season with a hip problem for the 'Nucks.

I think the best chance for a team to land P. Forsberg would be either MON, SJ or COL. The sharks have a lot of prospects which is what Philly wants and needs and can trade either of their very good goaltenders. Nabokov would be the choice. But then again SJ has already two very good center-men, so why get a top third?

The key thing is someone that can afford his salary while dumping someone else's of equal value in order to fit their Cap.

The Brewer rumor back to EDM has been there for awhile, but I think the guy that would probably fit best C.Pronger's shoes is R. Blake, that is if LA decides to firesale as they may find that their hopes to get the last spot for the playoffs diminishing.

No way on Blake. He's 37, and his contract is $6 million per season. Too old, too much dough that could be used to re-sign Smytty.

The Oilers would be much better suited at getting a younger, cheaper player like Brewer or a hidden gem like Spacek was last spring.

I don't want a four-month rental on the blue line. I want someone who will stick around for a couple of years of increased productivity and salary sensibility. Neither is the case with Blake.

The Brewer rumors have been ongoing. Last night he was in a done deal to Boston for Brad Boyes....only problem is that the Blues have two injuries on defense right now. Both Bryce Salvador and Jay McKee are out so I think Brewer is safe for another couple of weeks. Murray is on record as stating he would like to have Brewer back next year and there is no doubt he's playing his best hockey ever in the Bluenote since Murray took over. He's without a doubt the Blues best defensemen right now. The Blues win again tonight against Detroit and if they are within a few points of the playoffs come the deadline they probably won't deal anyone. Still a long way to go but the Blues are all the sudden a dangerous team right now.

The NHL is back for the stretch run and what a difference an AS week off makes. Six of the eleven games went into OT, including my Canucks. They were just flat, LA outshot VAN 43-39 and that's very unusual at the garage. It was the return of M. Crawford to Vancouver, and it is teams like the Kings that I would watch out for, not that they are playing for a playoff spot, but for the same reason they play very loose and are dangerous on any given night.

Columbus is another team I am thinking of as they down the mighty Sabres. When teams start playing loose and start fighting for their jobs next season, they are dangerous no matter what.
Well, it happened last night and LA came up with a 3-2 in in OT.

We all talk about Ovechkin, Crosby in the East, but I was very impressed with this rookie A. Kopitar. He's only 19 but plays like a veteran, very poised, quick hands, got size and is very smart with the puck.

Tim, your Blues are a very confident bunch as I was saying last week. I think under Murray they are like 13-2-2 or so and if they keep playing like this, they'll be keeping all their players and fight for the final spot in the playoffs. Now they play 10 of their next 14 games at home, it'll be interesting to watch.

In the West I only see ANA (especially now with Pronger back) NAS & SJ making it to the post season without a sweat.

The results are in; all-star game ratings drop 76 percent.

Evidently Buffalo and Pittsburgh are still gushing with pride about their new stars though.

While Wednesday's game was the most-watched cable show that night in Buffalo and Pittsburgh, it did not place among the top 20 cable shows in NHL markets such as New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Washington and Miami.

Forsberg set to have a meeting with Flyers GM Holmgren today to discuss his future with the team.

Forsberg's public stance has long been get the foot fixed first, and then he'd want to re-sign with the flyers. I say at this point trade the guy. Even if he re-signs, the Flyers aren't going to contend for the cup in the next 2 years. Plenty of teams seem interested, and maybe the Flyers can get some worthy assets off the deal. I'd also like to see Kapanen get the C after he has recently said he will play another few years. Guy is a model pro who never complains, but plays hard every night in both zones. I think would be a great leader by example for all the youngsters the Flyers have.

I hope that game is on center ice tonight. Nobody does a jersey ceremony like the Canadiens. Watching all the ex Hab legends walk the red carpet in their Canadien jerseys sends chills down my spine. I can't wait to see it.
As for Gump, the following pic is from a game in St. Louis where Gump took a Chuck Lefley slapshot to the forhead and was knocked unconscious. I've always heard that the fans sitting close could see the red welt rising on his forehead. The North Stars staff simply walked over to Gump, woke him up and he played the rest of the game. He was never even taken off the ice. Ya gotta love the NHL old timers...those guys were simply awesome.

About bloody time Dryden's #29 is retired. One of the great Goaltenders in the NHL and the best behind P. Roy for the Habs. It should be a fun night.

Dumbest move ever putting the all star game on in the middle of the week on a no name network. I started following hockey 2 years before Mario Lemieux was drafted and this was the first year I missed it.
