Manchester City was defeated at home versus Monaco behind a brace from Chevanton and a clinical Maoulida strike. Chevanton scored first with a free kick from 25 that bended into the upper right corner. Maoulida opened the second half with a clinical finish from outside the box, and the scoring ended as Chevanton beat Sun Jihai to a cross to head it into the far post. Manchester City had multiple shots from outside the box, but failed to finish.

Villareal 2, Monaco 2

Villareal came from behind in an exciting match to draw at home against Monaco. Villareal began the scoring as Forlan headed a deflection into an empty net. Monaco stormed back with two goals from outside the box to begin the second half. Villareal had multiple chances to score in the final third of the game, including two empty net misses from Forlan. But finally, in the 86th minute, a Villareal midfielder found an unmarked an onsides Guayre next to the keeper. Guayre roofed it, tied the game, and took a point from the encounter.

Good games.

You west coasters!!! Usually late night does not work for me. I'll see what I can do, but it's probably a no-go.

Just a reminder folks: the full season deadline is this Sunday, January 28. Please, try to get your League and Cup games done by then.

We have another week and a half or so before the 360 version arrives, and I'd like to get back into the league about a week and a half after that, so there is still time to finish this off. But, who wants to have to linger in the old-gen to finish these competitions off when the 360 version is here? Well, OK, maybe some of you have no choice, and maybe some of you are convinced the 360 game will be garbage, but so be it. I'm sure I'm not alone in looking forward to moving ahead with the DSP WE League as soon as we can in the 360 version. Breaking down the teams into tiers and completing the team selection process is likely to be the biggest hurdle to get over before we can begin playing games in beautiful 720p.

It looks like squid, blublub and nyisles are not participating in this season. If the Cup games they are involved in aren't completed by the 28th, we'll head right to the SemiFinals and try to finish the Cup off by the 4th of Feb. I'd love to have the League settled before then.

Thanks!

Is there ANYONE still playing the original version? I'm not in the market for a 360, and I'd like to know who I can still have a kickabout with every now and then.

I've tried, believe me - but I have yet to actually find one of the guys in D2 online when I am. Feel free to fold me up for this one if need be, but I'd like to try again for the 360 version.

That's not the best strategy, blub. I hardly ever get online, with other games included. If you still wanna play this season, send me a pm and let me know when you can play.

Folks:

Forfeits have been given for Valencia, Lyon and Fulham. There are a few games remaining to be played in the First division, and while Monaco is far ahead in the standings, Newcastle and Villareal are both still very much in the hunt for the title, so please try to get your games in by the end of the week.

Also, Newcastle and Monaco have been seeded through to the SemiFinals of the Cup with forfeits. I would still love to see the remaining QuaretFinal match between Villareal and Roma get played, but if it's not done by the end of the week or Saturday, I will flip a coin on that one and do the draw for the Third Round (the SemiFinals).

The new game arrives on the 6th the 7th, and I'd love to start the next season the week starting Sunday, Feb. 18. I will still be willing to finish off the Cup once the new game arrives, but beyond that I doubt any of us will want to go back-compat anymore when we have the 360 game in our hands.

Double header tonite as Real Madrid and VillaReal squared off in the premiership. the first game saw Villareal control the midfield, especially in the first half. Each team had trouble putting together runs in the attacking quarter, and it wasn't until the 59th minute the deadlock was broken by a header from captain Raul. Just 4 minutes later Ronaldo added a security goal.

VillaReal vs Real Madrid 0-3

10 Shots 14
5 Shots On Goal 9
54 Possession 46
Goals:
RMA: raul, ronaldo, portillo
No cards or injuries

the second game was equally as tight in the first half, with the only real scoring opportunity came when Roberto Carlos nailed the post on a 38m freekick. The beginning of the second half however really belonged to Villareal as the had several opportunities and finally Forlan scored the game opener. Things got even worse as Woodgate was sent off for a tackle at midfield that was at worst a yellow card, but the ref showed the red card and real madrid was down one goal and reduced to 10 men. After some initial pressure, the Spanish Armada put immense pressure on Villareal's keeper and broke through in the 80th minute with a goal from a corner. Real was ale to hold on and save a much needed point in the table.

RMA 1- VRL 1
18 Shots 9
10 Shots on Goal 3
46 Possesion 54
Goals:
VRL: Forlan
RMA: Pavon

Cards:

Monaco 4, Newcastle 3

Monaco clinched their first (and last) DSP league title in a thrilling 4-3 tie against a tough Newcastle squad. Newcastle opened the game with an offensive onslaught, peppering the goal (and behind it) with an array of shots from outside of the box. However, Monaco scored first when a cross deflected off center defender Carr and into the back of the net. Newcastle, however, continued with the offense and their attempts paid off as Shearer connected with a well-placed shot from 20 yards out. Both teams seemed destined for a halftime draw, but then Michael Owen hit an amazing volley from the upper left corner of the box that banged off the inside of the post and in.

In the second half, Monaco subbed in Emanuel Adebayor, and his entrance paid instance dividends. In the 52nd minute, he was through on goal and his shot deflected over to Meriem who put it away to tie the match at 2. Nine minutes later, Chevanton took the lead with his 11th goal on the season, as he muscled away from a defender to hit from just outside the box. Then, two minutes after that, Adebayor was through on a breakaway and calmly slotted home a shot to make it 4-2. Newcastle pushed for another goal, and found it with a Shearer header off a corner kick. In injury time, Shearer found the woodwork, and Owen was unable to finish a tight angle shot for the equalizer. Time ran out, and Monaco were winners.

Good game Rob.

Great game, Jared. I played a game like this against AtXj in Season 1 or 2 and I wish I had both of these on tape :)

OK gang, I guess it's over  I would have loved to see the Cup games played, but at this stage I don't see the point. The League is decided, with Jared taking the spoils. I will create a new 'congrats' thread come this weekend, and again that will be the open call for new league members.

If you want to finish off your games, feel free. I will post the forfiet wins and draws over the weekend if need be.

If Fab. Bastard and Slumber can figure out a time, we can finish off the Cup, but otherwise I'm not sure I see the point. I should be getting the 360 game tomorrow, and hope to be able to divide the club teams into Tiers by the end of the weekend, with input if you guys want to critique what I come up with. As before, I will be using a wholly unscientific method based on the teams' overall 'shape' to divvy them up.

Is this the thread for the new 360 League? If so, I would like to get back into it and would like Barcelona again if possible.
