Wow, this is a rare sight in the NHL: Minnesota's Derek Boogard got POUNDED in a fight last night against Calgary's Eric Godard. Boogie took so many slugs to the skull that he suffered a concussion and will miss games.

Andy Strickland, Blues reporter here in St. Louis for ESPN1380 said on his show today that the NHL is going to switch up home and road jersey's next year. Whites at home, and darks on the road.

It doens't really matter to me personally. I am more worried about how the new jerseys will look like next season, as we're about to find out in the All Stars' game, and early impressions are that they are very gay looking.

Well, the winning streak is over. Canucks played like crap and the trapping Wild just outplayed us. M.Gaborik was awesome, boy did Minni miss this guy early in the season.

Thank God. And why doesn't the NHL ban third jerseys while it's at it.

Take care,

The Oil's 3-2 victory Tuesday night at San Jose was the most exciting game I've seen all season. Plenty of end-to-end action, big hits, goalmouth scrambles, big saves (especially by Roli), blown chances, you name it.

Not that I needed reminding, but that game further reinforced to me why I love hockey.

Take care,

They should just ban the really ugly jerseys like Boston's Pooh Bear monstrosity. Buffalo's third jersey is their only good one at the moment.

True, Feanor. Buffalo and Vanny's third jerseys should become their primaries.

The only "alternative, non-classic" third jersey in the NHL worth a sh*t is the Rangers' Statue of Liberty. That is a fine-looking sweater.

I'd be pleased if every Oilers' third jersey ever produced was burned. They are beyond ugly. I HATE them, even if the boys do have a very good record in them this season -- something like 6-1.

Take care,
PK

Seven consecutive losses against Northwest Division opponents for the Oil after last night's loss in Calgary. Ugh, I feel this season slipping away.

This week will be pivotal: Games against Minnesota, Anaheim and Calgary before the All-Star break. I'm thinking the Oil must get at least four points this week, or they are in trouble unless Kevin Lowe can land a veteran defenseman or two by the end of the month.

Four of the six Oilers' defensemen were rookies Friday night and Saturday night. You simply can't win at the NHL level with that kind of inexperience on the blue line.

Take care,
PK

VERY interesting idea floated by Minnesota GM Doug Risebrough to increase scoring in the NHL without increasing the size of the nets or changing equipment:

I think it's worth exploring. Your comments?

If the Oil checks their rearview mirror, they should see a Bluenote creeping up!
