Basically though, I agree with you guys, college football's postseason is a mess. But if it gets me more chocolate-covered peanutbutter buckeyes, I say long live the BCS!!!!

Needless to say, folks around here are pretty pumped! Alot of scarlet and grey in the office today, plus there's a big tray of "GO BUCKS!" cookies and this one lady brought in a big tray of peanutbutter balls dipped in chocolate to look like buckeyes... mmm-mmm!

Unless it's an absolute barnburner or wrapped in controversy, the BCS title game will be a media blip on Tuesday. By Wednesday, college football will be page 3 news.
And what's with the scheduling of the minor bowls interspersed with the BCS games? There's no excuse for So. Miss and _The_ Ohio University to be playing a game in January.

Glad you're stoked, Lex. Good to see someone in the country excited about what should be one of the premier sporting events on the calendar but isn't, at least with the current format and schedule.
If you live in Ohio or Florida or are alums of either team, you're stoked today. If not, you're yawning and already plotting your NFL second-round playoffs betting strategy.
Take care,
PK

Good column I found over lunch about how this game is being played six days too late:
http://cbs.sportsline.com/columns/story/9914176
Another note I found in Peter King's NFL column in SI about this issue:
>>>Eagle PR czar Derek Boyko emailed me the other day with a note that the Eagles will have played eight games between the time Ohio State played its last regular season game and the BCS title game tonight.<<<
Take care,
PK

Tressel screwed that pooch Gus Grissom style.Inuyasha wrote:I think everyone but osu fans are rooting for florida since they are the underdog.
But what a decision in the first half by Tressel going for it on 4th and 1. Talk about complete disrespect of Florida.
still a half to go but so far.... domination by florida.
There still is a half...Im still not convinced...Though that was a pretty one sided butt whipping...
Im hoping OSU relaxes and starts pounding a bit...They are playing FLAs game so far.
dbdynsty25 wrote:Wow, OSU is pretty damn good! Did they just think they could show up and win? What the f*ck was Tressel thinking on that 4th and 1? Pretty much cost them the game thus far.
Come on....Tressel knows he's football god. So does OSU. They're not arrogant, just really really confident.
I would love for the voters to protest the BCS and vote Boise State #1. Share the title with Florida.
GO GATORS!!!!!!!!
I am just besides myself after that first half. If it weren't for that opening kickoff return (why didn't Florida elect to receive after winning the toss???
), it would be a rout by now. FL defense is playing great.
Troy Smith has had lots of protection and they still can't get open.
FL is nototious though for letting up in the 2nd half. Something tells me
this thing is far from over. Two quarters away from a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE!!!!!

It's too bad that he will never make it in the NFL. He's got a noodle for an arm. About half of his passes tonight would be picked in the NFL since they just float out there.wco81 wrote:Smith looks lost out there.
Leak is showing why he was so highly touted coming out of HS.
Smith has watched his draft stock plummet after this performance. What a disaster he is. 4 completions through 3 quarters...are you serious?

This just proves that they wait way too long to play this game. There's no reason to have a team wait 50+ days to play in the National Championship. 2 weeks is about as long as you want to go without playing a football game.
I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.
My time is water down a drain.

Yeah I don't know about Leak's NFL prospects but as a 4-year starter, looks like he's going to lead his team to the national championship.
He's had a weird situation though. He can't use the experience under Meyer in the NFL and his previous coach was incompetent.
As for Smith, there were questions about him because he wasn't the prototypical height. He may be more of a playmaker with his legs at this point (as Vick was), although he's not showing too much elusiveness tonight.

Didnt' Florida wait just as long? Maybe if they waited 2 weeks OSU would have gone down by only 17.
Either way, OSU wouldn't have won this game no matter what the wait. It looks like they thought they'd just show up and they'd get handed the trophy.
