That is a match for both teams. The Oil needs D desperately, and it has surplus forwards.

At the start of the season, I wouldn't have wanted Brewer. But the Oil's defensive corps is so bad -- Steve Staios is the best D man, for Christ's sake! -- that I would like to have Brewer now.

Take care,

The Blues were actually offered Horcoff in that Pronger deal and the Blues said no and asked for Jeff Woywitka and Doug Lynch instead!

Horc is having a tough time this year, especially defensively, but he's a quality No. 2 NHL center. He's only on the first line in Edmonton because while the Oilers have plenty of depth in the middle, they don't have a quality stud.

Take care,
PK

No spoilers. I'm just glad I set the DVR this morning, as Center Ice is carrying the U.S. games live.

Good viewing coming tonight, baby!

I may be a cheap f*ck, but I have no qualms about putting $150 on the old Visa the first week of October to get NHL Center Ice. I LOVE IT!

Canucks are on a hot streak and R. Luongo is finally making us fans believers. At 7 million per, he's been the team's mvp but he also had his share of so so games, but his recent play especially last night just quiets the 'Nucks doubters. He stole the game.

Canada-Russia is the juniors' finals, a classic one. One win away from retaining the title baby.

The Pittsburgh Penguins could play rent-free and be equal managing partners in the new Sprint Center if they move to Kansas City. That was at the heart of an offer unveiled Thursday by operators of the $276-million Sprint Center, which is scheduled to open in the fall and is currently looking for a primary tenant. Penguins owner Mario Lemieux says he expects to have an answer within 30 days.

Why's that? They're known for their chili and it's quite good.

Unbelievable! P. Stefan is about a foot away to score on a completely empty net vs EDM after his team makes a comeback and yet he misses a backhand to seal the victory. Instead with a dozen seconds left the puck goes to the other end and A. Hemsky ties the game with 2 seconds left. Although the SO went to DAL, EDM as to take that point as golden.

J.Iginla injures himself in a nice srap with B. Allen.

The damndest thing I've ever seen in the NHL since I started watching in the early 70s. Absolutely nuts. Oilers analyst and former NHL star Ray Ferraro called Stefan's gaffe the most embarrassing thing he's ever seen at the NHL level. I agree. This makes Steve Smith's pass off Grant Fuhr's pads against Calgary in the 1986 Smythe Division final look like nothing, even though the stakes were much higher for Smith's mistake.

Boys, even if you're not a hockey fan, you need to find the YouTube video of this in the morning. It was beyond belief.

Improbable point for the Oil, but they blew a 4-1 lead in the second. So I don't see it as a golden point; I see it as an opportunity lost.

Take care,
PK

When you look at the replay it looks like the puck just skips a bit as it enters the crease, but nevertheless he had a ample time to seal the empty netter for his team and yes P. Stefan a former #1 draft pick should be ashamed of himself. Beyond belief. 8O

James:

Lost in the justified hubub about the bizarre game-tying goal sequence was Hagman's goal to give Dallas a 5-4 lead. I HATE Dallas, but that was a superb display of skill and persistence to put that puck in with Greene hanging all over him.

As Oilers play-by-play man Peter Loubourdais said, that goal was somewhat Ovechkin-like.

Take care,
PK

Here's the entire insane sequence from the Oilers-Stars game last night:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDbEX666G3Y

If this took place in the NFL, the entire country would be talking about it today. This is right up there with Franco Harris' "Immaculate Reception." OK, it wasn't the playoffs, but that's how nuts this sequence was.

I'm still dumbfounded every time I watch it. Nice racks on the two girls shown celebrating right after the goal, too! ;)

That was a great effort. The possible win that seemed like a lost opportunity to you however, will be remembered towards the end of the season in this whacky and ultracompetitive NW division. That single point that came back to your Oils is huge and it may make the difference between making or not the playoffs in the end.

Fifth game vs an Alberta team tonight at the garage in two weeks, we'll see if the 'Nucks can keep up their good momentum as I am sure EDM will try to revenge their last 6-2 loss.

PK, if you get a chance, catch some action for the US- Sweden game which is underway as we speak for the bronze prize. A lot of these young kids have contracts with their NHL teams already and it's amazing how skillful they are. Russia-Canada later on for the GOLD.

I think this is the big ice rink that Naples favours but I don't see it happening in NA.

Just like The Who album: Meaty, Beaty, Big and Bouncy.

I think there's a correlation between the fact both broads were drinking amber beer and their big racks. No foo-foo light beer or colored liquor drinks for those dames.

Lord, I hope their kids can breast-feed until they're about 12 ... :)
