Holy s***...yer buying a machine?!?!?
When we got our beast we went with a local shop that built it and have been more than pleased. It was about a grand, but their customer service has been awesome. Bought it about 3yrs ago and they still take care of s*** if it goes wrong. They also built it to my specs. So long story short, if you have any places like that check them out.

Is there a good time of the year for PC bargains?

Keep in mind that these dinky rigs, while fine for normal tasks, will probably burst into flames from merely putting in the Windows Vista disc. Not that this should be a problem any time soon, as I expect Windows XP to stay relevant for a while, in addition to M$'s normal 5 year cycle of support. I've been running Vista for awhile and frankly I wouldn't even think of going back to 1GB of RAM after testing at 2GB and higher.
I did test the Intel 945 integrated graphics out and I'll be damned if it didn't run Aero zippy, just like M$ and Intel said it would. So there is hope for some integrated graphics machines.

I was just testing M$ system requirements... I obviously wouldn't be caught dead running a rig with Intel's integrated graphics either.dbdynsty25 wrote:Like PK will be upgrading to Vista...are you crazy Kaz? And what the hell were you doing with 1gb of ram anyway? You should have upgraded that sh*t to 2gb at least a year ago.
