You should be able to d/l the Window Media plug-in for Safari, but I've long since switched to Firefox and much prefer it to Safari. Also, there is this deal, Flip4Mac:

http://www.flip4mac.com/
Something is up with Windows Media player on my Mac. Using Safari, it acts as though it won't recognize it. At one time, it was successfully installed, but now when I try and watch something that uses Windows Media, it attempts to open it, but won't. I suppose I'll have to use Firefox in these instances.

Thanks.

Yes it way too early to decide if it is "worthy" but if the gameplay is close to MVP with a 2k presentation this could be a very nice title.

What are you talking about?

I don't mean that to put down your statement, but I mean in what sense?

I don't get it either. I thought the trailer looked pretty good. You always have to take those with a grain of salt, but the animations looked solid and the player models seemed very detailed.

The game still could suck but I didn't see anything that made me want to write it off.

Just watched the trailer and its just that...a trailer. That being said I am so freakin' glad they cleaned up the animations. The swing animations in that game the last few years were inexcusable. I'll stay cautiously optimistic on this game due to some of the MVP crew being added to the 2K staff.

I believe it was just only Ben Brinkman.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed Brinkman can help turn the franchise around.

That said, I've never been a big fan of the "engine." The last version of this franchise I played was in 2004. And I know people hold up that version as a terrific title, but it never did it for me.

MVP '05 was very, very good. And The Show is fantastic.

Hopefully 2K7 can approach these titles in terms of quality. But one thing is clear -- it is very purdy.

I may have to quit my job if The Show on PS3/PSP and WSB on PS3/360/PSP are all good titles. I don't know if it's possible, but I can't even imagine what a 60 fps baseball game would look like in 1080p.

There's a short new game play video buried in the CES stuff yesterday over at Gamespot (sorry I don't have the link). It's hard to see much, but I really liked what I did see, which included The Show-type presentation. All of a sudden I've got a lot more hope for this game than I did 2 months ago.

I believe this is the one:

It is ~20 minutes long. MLB is about 15 minutes in or so.

I watched it and it looks alot better than last year's game. The guy they talked to gave a bit of insight on the updates. He said, ala NBA2K7, they have 150+ signature stances/pitching windups in the game. Also, he said there is an all new franchise in the game. He claims they spent most of their development time "tightening up" all the things wrong with last year's game as compared to adding a bunch of fluffy new features. It did look very nice. They had Carlos Zambrano's delivery down pretty good.

I hope we get to see some direct feed vids of this game, and MLB 07 The Show, very soon. I really enjoy the month or two leading up to the release of the year's new baseball games. 36 days until pitchers and catchers report :)

A short 'hands-on' from CES:

CES 2007: Major League Baseball 2K7 Hands-On
Rippling jerseys and well placed pitches win the game.
by Erik Brudvig

January 9, 2007 - One of the few new games on display at this year's Consumer Electronics Show is 2K's Major League Baseball 2K7. Having not played a baseball videogame in years, I was a bit tentative stepping up to the booth to play. I quickly found that the title, although much rebuilt from last year's iteration, played like an old glove.

The first thing you'll notice when you get your hands on MLB 2K7 is the visuals. The players look and move realistically, straight down to their jerseys and caps. The first section of a game I played had some high winds which caused the jerseys to ripple realistically as the batter waited for the pitch. Although it may have been a bit overdone in the high winds, this was some of the most true to life cloth motion I've seen around.

Next I decided to quit out of the game that had been left in mid progress for us and have a go at a nice Bay Bridge game; Oakland against San Francisco. The Giants may have Barry Zito now, but the A's will always have my heart. I started off the inning pitching and found the Payoff Pitch and aiming system similar to last year's iteration. With Rich Harden, my power pitching was dominant over the first two batters. Then I hung a slider just to see what would happen. The score was shortly 1-0 against. Ouch.

After retiring the next batter, it was time to bat. The swing is still mapped to the right analog stick, which takes a little bit of time to get used to if you haven't done it before. I hadn't. Needless to say, I wasn't doing much offensively. I did get to see, and easily recognize, a few of my favorite Oakland players. Jason Kendall, for example, leans over the plate begging for a free pass to first base, just like he does in real life.

Like all baseball games, it takes several games of play before you can tell just how well the AI and physics work, which we obviously didn't have time for as people breathed down my neck on the show floor waiting for a turn. Whether this will be a true next-gen baseball experience or not remains to be seen, but our initial impression is a good one

Leave it to IGN to assign the 2k7 preview to a guy who admits to "[h]aving not played a baseball videogame in years[.]" LoL...wonder what life would be like if idiots didn't run IGN.

This is really starting to look good, IMHO. I'll reserve judgement until actual reviews come in, but this could fill a considerable void in the 360's sports lineup.

Edit: GT has added another pair of videos to the above page. Cloth effects are a tad overdone, but nice nonetheless. Some of the player models and their signature animations are uncanny.

I'm liking what I'm seeing. Graphically, it looks very sharp, and it just looks like it's easy to pick up and play, without the gimmicky meters and gizmos that really hampered the last few editions.

Really liking the player specific animations as well. Not only does it look like they captured the batting stances, but also the swing itself and their mannerisms in the box. It looks even better than The Show in this regard, which had tons of stances, but everyone's swing had the same look. The video had EVERYTHING about Giambi down, from his stance, to that one-handed follow through he does, to way he fidgets with his gloves between pitches.

They also looked like they cleaned up a lot of the awkward fielding animations, and the swings no longer have that wiffle-light feel. The only thing I don't like is the fielding cam, which just seems off. I think it's too close to the ground or something.
