Create your own Guitar Hero songs!

Post by MuffinMcFluffin »

First let me begin by saying that... though my first post appears spam-like... this is not spam, and I am not a bot.

Anyway, I am here because I heard that there were a lot of Guitar Hero fans here. I came across this site:

http://www.freetar.net/

Where you can actually go into an editor:

http://freetar.antonstruyk.com/webstart ... ditor.jnlp

And create your own riffs for a Guitar Hero song. Once you're finished with that, you can enter a "game":

http://freetar.antonstruyk.com/webstart ... _Hero.jnlp

And play the song that you downloaded with your keyboard (just set up the controls yourselves).

I've already made "Expert" versions of Here Without You by 3 Doors Down:

http://savefile.com/files/381912

And Snow by Red Hot Chili Peppers:

Anyway, if you download the editor and find out the controls... it does take a few hours to complete, especially because of the timing (it took me over 10 hours to complete Snow), but in the end IMO it's worth it. I hope people at least give this an honest look, especially Guitar Hero fans.

Freetar also has a message board (again, not spamming) where people are posting their own songs, but I haven't checked them out yet. Most of them are too hard rock for me.

At any rate, there is some way to put these songs on your Guitar Hero or Guitar Hero 2 game, but I'm not positive on how to do it. I believe it requires modding your PS2 and possibly even using a bootleg GH game.

I hope that people try to download the game or editor and at least listen to my songs... just let me know if those deemed appropriate for Expert-like versions of the songs. I know that Snow would probably be impossible, which is why it would be one of the upper-tier songs I suppose. I would really appreciate it if people gave them a look, and maybe you guys might even want to try and create your own songs!

Have fun!

I'm not quite sure if I'm trying to make this a home for me or not... but I would like to know if anybody else wants to try this program or test my songs.

By the way, I learned that you guys need the .mp3 files of the songs for them to properly work.

I briefly looked at the website and the program this afternoon. I didnt read too much about it. I get the general concept of it, I just don't fully understand how to do it what it looks like on my PC. Also would need to get a ps2-usb adapter as it would be no fun with a keyboard.

I would like to give it a try, this would give me a reason to finally get rid of the ps2. I just need to spend more time with it and read about it to fully figure out what the heck I am doing. There are a TON of songs I want to play LOL!!

Thank you for your honesty.

And, in all honesty, I'm not necessarily creating these songs so that I can play them on my computer. If I in fact ever get to buying one of those Mod Swaps or whatever they're called, then maybe there's a chance to play it on my PS2.

The other reason I'm doing it is because on Operation Sports I created a song wishlist on what I would like to be on there. A few people approved of some of my songs, but they considered other ones too "emo"... one of those songs being Here Without You by 3 Doors Down. Anyway, I said that it's all about having a good tab with it, and I thought of a cool way to do every one of my songs where they wouldn't be boring to play. So now I'm trying to prove to everybody that these would make great songs on Guitar Hero.

Speaking of which, I just finished my third song: Please by Staind.

Let me know what you think! Thanks!

Staind - Please
Jimmy Eat World - Work
Nickelback - Far Away
Green Day - Good Riddance

Alter Bridge - Open Your Eyes (20% complete)
Roper - Amplify
Fuel - Hemorrhage (may not do this one)
