F1 - biggest disappointment; the gameplay was too arcade-like even with the assists off and the graphics were nowhere near the videos we've seen. F1 was probably the only game that would have me bite at the PS3 and it didn't deliver
You must be one hell of a racing gamer. I thought the game was extremely SIM like with all of the aids turned off. Graphics could use a bit of cleaning up, but the actual tracks and cars look very nice, especially at the high speeds. The environments and crowd need a lot of work though.

Might be a dumb question but here it goes...can you recharge your Six Axis Controller with a USB port on your PC? Just wondering.

I finally saw a PS3 (60 gig) in Best Buy today and couldn't pass it up...now I just need to buy the HDTV I've had my eye on and I'll be all set. I also picked up Rattle and Hum on blue ray...does anyone have any impressions of that one? How's the Motorstorm demo holding up?

Here's one more thing that drives me nuts about the PS3 and it's DVD playback...

There is no stop memory that are in most all DVD players today. When I stop any DVD it will not remember the spot and start playing again from there. If they are really trying to pimp this thing as your one stop home media center with it's DVD and Blu-Ray payers, then they need to include all of the standards expected today.

Has anyone hooked up their PS3 to a LCD monitor? I am interested in getting one, but am wondering how it will look on my Dell 20" Flat Screen.

I can definitely see where thats a bugaboo. The thing that keeps me from the PS3 is mostly the price and the lack of achievements. I don't have alot of points but I love that sound when you get some. :D

Had a unique opportunity to purchase a PS3 and I now own one. I managed to get an extra 360 Premium for nothing. Received a $200 gift card, so I exchanged the 360 and the gift card for a 60 GB PS3. Only game I have played so far is Tiger Woods and I have noticed some subtle differences between this version and the 360 version. I notice that the Sixaxis controller feels very light and cheaper than the DS controllers. However, I am finding that I am able to control my shots in Tiger better and that the distance results from each club seems to be more accurate than what I have become accustomed to on the 360 version.

Visually the games appear to be identical which is what I was expecting, however, the Golfers seem to look a tad more realistic than the ones in the 360. The cameras are a bit better in the PS3 version as well. I see more of a variety in the kinds of cameras used, especially when following the CPU golfer.

I gave Sony alot of crap here and at other forums for their actions during and after E3. I don't retract any of what I said about them. However, the PS3 is a very quiet machine and seemingly VERY WELL constructed. I did not envision myself having one until 4th Quarter 2007, but I could not pass this opportunity up. Pairing this with the new Gateway 22" widescreen monitor and optical sound through my Logitech Z-550's, presents a visual and aural feast for the senses.

Hard to say because I am still building my character. However, when the club distance says "153" and I am on a relatively flat surface with no or little wind, I expect to be able to get near 153 yards if I execute the shot properly. A number of times this does not happen for me on the 360 and I am wondering if it is some sort of controller issue or just me. At any rate, it is nice to hit shots that result in landing somewhere reasonably where you intended and executed.

Heck yeah it is. Same games for the most part, maybe a little better graphics, but not enough to make the switch. If the two consoles were priced the same, then I'd consider possibly selling the 360 and picking up a PS3. As it stands, I don't know any difference regarding Blu-Ray, so I can care less about the capabilities of it. Plus, I don't even think I have the right HDTV to have full appreciation of what Blu-Ray is all about. I can wait another year for a price drop and also to determine what shakes out between Blu-Ray and HD-DVD.

Of all the posters here on DSP, you'd have to forgive us if some of us would have picked you somewhat later for the PS3 over-under. Aren't you banned from posting in this thread anyhow?

Seriously, congrats on the purchase. Hopefully, your PS3 ends up being hardier than your 360s had been, IIRC.

Looking out the next six months or so, the only Sony exclusives that make me think of pursuing the PS3, sooner rather than later, are Lair and the Show, with a passing interest in Resistance.

Without a doubt, I'd miss the Live integration and Achievements (although you'd never guess it from my paltry Gamerscore :P ) but one of the things that really (surprisingly) gnaws at me with respect to the prospects of owning a PS3 is the lack of rumble.

For those of you who own the console, some for a few weeks now, how are you finding the lack of rumble? I'd think it would be most noticeable in first person games and racers.

It'll be interesting to see the effect lack of rumble has on multiplatform titles where rumble was used to communicate things that couldn't be 'seen' on the screen that easily (in Test Drive Unlimited, rumble starts building as the car starts to slide...)

it was the price for me, $600 bananas! try and get the wife to go along with that :) Thank god for the live arcade with pac-man(her fav)

Yeah i was curious to know why Sony didnt include "rumble" gamepads, kind of dumb if you ask me, that and the dvd/bluray's dont remember where the disc stops is almost crazy in this day and age.

I was also thinking what if Sony opted not to include bluray, how would that have changed the sales of the console.

You know, I never thought I would be as big a fan of the achievements as I am. I'm not an achievement whore like Fshguy (  ) but I really like when I get that pop-up that says Achievement Unlocked. Last night I was playing Zelda and when I did something in the game worthy of an achievement I kept waiting for the pop-up and it never came.

I initially thought the whole achievement thing was pointless when I first got my 360 but now it seems like something that should be standard and I definitely missed it during Zelda. Weird, huh?
I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.

1. Of all the posters here on DSP, you'd have to forgive us if some of us would have picked you somewhat later for the PS3 over-under. Aren't you banned from posting in this thread anyhow?

2. Seriously, congrats on the purchase. Hopefully, your PS3 ends up being hardier than your 360s had been, IIRC.

3. For those of you who own the console, some for a few weeks now, how are you finding the lack of rumble? I'd think it would be most noticeable in first person games and racers.
1. That is a fair statement. I was waiting for someone to say something. I was very anti-PS3 and I still stand by those statements. What changed for me was that I could get my hands on one for nothing out of pocket which makes that decision much easier and is one of the MAJOR reasons I did not pre-order one for launch. Another reason I was going to hold off is that I have had a 360 since launch and did not see anything coming for the PS3 that I could not get on the 360. That and I was not interested in having a BR player since I still don't have a 1080p display. Finally, I still think that it is way too early to predict, but something tells me that this generation of consoles are going to be very competitive with each other and I don't forsee a repeat of the PS2 dominance.

2. So do I. I am on my third 360, so the unit has cost me about as much as the price of the PS3 by the time I paid for 2 new extended warranties at $50 per.

3. Have hardly noticed it here, but then again I have only played TW07 which has minimal rumble features in the first place.
