Please post impressions ASAP as I'm hoping to get another game this weekend and I'm up in the air between Rayman, Elebits, and Excite Truck at this point.sportdan30 wrote:Picked up Rayman Raving Rabbits on a rental. Looking forward to giving this game a whirl. It's gotten rather good reviews.
Thanks!

Rayman is fun but did not have much staying power for me at all. It's all minigames and unless you plan on playing this as a party game or with the family a lot, I would pass. A rental is a good choice with this game.Sport73 wrote:Please post impressions ASAP as I'm hoping to get another game this weekend and I'm up in the air between Rayman, Elebits, and Excite Truck at this point.sportdan30 wrote:Picked up Rayman Raving Rabbits on a rental. Elebits looks to be your best choice of those three you mentioned.

I've only put in about 30 minutes of Rayman, but I can already say that this game kicks the living sh*t out of Super Monkey Balls. That game was A-W-F-U-L. I only played about five of the mini games but they're a blast to play. The Wiimote works very well. I don't know if it has a ton of replay value, but if you have kids above the age of 6, then they'll enjoy this game. A worthy rental for sure.
I'll post more in depth impressions a little later on this evening or tomorrow.

I logged a good amount of time with Excite Truck and it is a mixed bag. It is a great deal of fun, and what it does it does very well. If you only play alone I think it is a good arcade racer, and was more challenging than I expected. Much like its predecessors there is more to it than meets the eye. However, the two player racing is a joke - you race head to head and that's it. The course seems very empty and lifeless with only one competitor, especially when the person you play with is much better than you and you lose them by the third corner or jump.Sport73 wrote: Please post impressions ASAP as I'm hoping to get another game this weekend and I'm up in the air between Rayman, Elebits, and Excite Truck at this point.
I'm going to pick this up once it drops in price - I was having a blast but I didn't think it was a $50 game. But I'm cheap and it is one of the best launch titles I've tried.
I played a little more Monkey Ball today and it improved my opinion on the game a little, but I still advise steering clear. The main game is just awkward and pretty boring (I much prefer Marble Ball Ultra on XBLA to it) and the mini-games are mostly stinkers with a few decent ones thrown in.
I definitely want to pick up another game to accompany Wii Sports, Madden, Zelda and the aforementioned MonkeyBall since the line up of new titles between now and...well, forever, is currently pretty lean.
Here's hoping the developers can catch up to the success of the Wii quickly enough to actually make the Wii a success.
I love the machine, but the games thing has me concerned, especially in light of the wealth of great games gracing my 360 these days.

Rayman is a much better game than that piece of garbage Monkey Ball. The controls in Rayman are spot on while the mini games in Monkey Ball are basically unplayable. My kids absolutely love Rayman. I enjoy playing it in small bursts.Sport73 wrote:

I give a big thumbs up for Excite Truck. For some reason I just love that game. My first impressions of it were very blah. It took about an hour or two before I really "got it". Once I hit the higher cup levels though I couldn't stop playing. Its a complete arcade racer with very average graphics, but its one of those games that gives me that just one more time feeling. Its a great old school, fun game in my opinion.
I'll stick to the two games I've played from that group.Sport73 wrote:Anyone else want to weigh in before I head to the store?
It's between Elebits, Excite Truck and Rayman.
I'd go with Elebits. In the few hours I put into it, I really enjoyed playing it--the control is awesome and the gameplay is fairly deep.
In the 30 minutes I've played Rayman, a recent birthday gift, I enjoyed it but am very concerned about whether I'll still want to play it in a month.
But I guess some of it depends on the main thing you want out of the game you're about to buy--multiplayer or single player? If it is multi, then Rayman could be the better bet based on other impressions of its minigames (I've only played single player).

My wife picked up Super Monkey Ball, we loved 1 and 2 (well, sort of, 1 was much better), anyway. I haven't opened it yet, got it at Sam's for $40. Are you guy saying it's that bad and we should return it? She was looking for something fun to play, picked up that and Tony Hawk, we played Tony Hawk all night, fun, fun game.
Thanks!
Thanks!
I found some component cables at Wal-Mart for $20. What a difference! Don't even try playing Zelda without them. It's a different game. It looks exactly like I expected with the component cables.
The Wii is a HUGE hit in this household. My wife loves Wii sports and Trauma Center. My son loves to bowl and golf. I like them all, including Madden, and I can already tell that Zelda is going to be one of my favorite games ever.

Do not pass go. Take Super Monkey Ball back and pick up Rayman Raving Rabbits if you want a game packed with fun mini games. SMB is not worth $20 in my opinion.ExtremeGamer wrote:My wife picked up Super Monkey Ball, we loved 1 and 2 (well, sort of, 1 was much better), anyway. If you can hold off until January 15th, Wario Ware: Smooth Moves games is coming to the Wii. That should be a well received title by gamers and non-gamers alike.ExtremeGamer wrote:We have Rayman, love it, very fun minigames. Thanks!
The controls for quite a few of the mini games are just plain broken. No other way to describe it.ExtremeGamer wrote:My wife picked up Super Monkey Ball, we loved 1 and 2 (well, sort of, 1 was much better), anyway. I haven't opened it yet, got it at Sam's for $40. Is there any difference from using a cheaper no name brand of component cables or the official ones? I haven't lucked into a Wii yet but would like to order some cables to be ready.

I registered for that itrackr website and paid them $2 to notify me when some of the area Target stores got them in. I had a Wii in less than 24 hours after registering. It wasn't as smooth as advertised (they told me the one by work got them in only to find out they hadn't but another location did) but it did lead me to my Wii. If you don't have any Target's close to you I wouldn't recommend itrackr.webdanzer wrote:Anyone have any secrets/sites/strategies to share, check, or employ to help in finding one of these suckers?
I'm starting to rack up the mileage visiting stores every day!

My wife got mine from Walmart.com. She saw on one of the tracking sites that they would be available online at 1PM on a certain date and she got lucky enough to order one. It arrived within 4 business days. It came with a ridiculous bundle of 6 unwanted games, but we took all the games back to the store and got full credit. The $38 more in shipping was well worth saving my time and gas.webdanzer wrote:Anyone have any secrets/sites/strategies to share, check, or employ to help in finding one of these suckers?
