I'm not anti-ps3, but I do find this backlash-stuff to be facinating.

I'd love to have all 3 in my house actually. If blu-ray turns out to be the real deal, I imagine even my parents will have a ps3 eventually.

There's nothing fascinating about it... it's done to death. If you think you're breaking a scoop with a PS3 "sky is falling" story, try another board. It's played out here.

The thing I love is that wikipedia gets thrown into conversations now like it's the answer to everything. It can be edited by ANYONE. How exactly is that a "trusted" source?

BTW, I'm not attacking Kaz...it's just a trend I'm noticing here and elsewhere. Who the f*ck is wikipedia and how the hell did they get all this run for doing, well, nothing.

I absolutely agree, and it's not something I would throw out there in a debate about physics or something. However, typically articles that aren't about controversial subject matter are surprisingly accurate, such as the woot.com article. In this case, it was easier for me to cut and paste someone else's description rather than coming up with my own.

On a side note, I think that wikipedia is one of the best things going on the internet, if not the best thing. But it's definitely important to understand what it is, and what it is not.

Why is it up to you to determine if the negative press that Sony has and continues to receive is not fascinating? I think it is newsworthy and fascinating to see the gaming press and mainstream press giving Sony a difficult time. Sony has done pretty much everything right from a game console perspective since day one. Until PS3 and E3. To see them "fall from grace" so to speak with the likes of Time magazine and other notable publications makes this generation of consoles far more interesting than the last one. For once, Sony is NOT king of the hill. This is shaping up to be a close and LONG race that is way too early to tell as has been discussed previously. I don't see why greggsand's comments are any more "done to death" than the near-fanatical defense of PS3 and Sony that you and a couple others here have argued. In most of the forums I go into these days, the PS3 and Sony are not well thought of these days because of the way they have acted and performed since PS2. Their stock price and financial statements also document that Sony has made numerous mis-steps recently. They may turn it around and PS3 might be the ticket out of their current malaise, but it is not happening right now and the media is "fascinated" by this turn of events even if you aren't. If Sony does turn this around, you can be sure that the media will be "fascinated" by their turnaround and you will see the mood of forums reflect that as well as they get more users as this thing plays out.

Part of my un-enthusiasm for the PS3 has to do with some disappointments.

Let me count my disappointments:

1. Disappointment that GT never got cockpit view
2. GT never got online play
3. The PSP's analog nib (enough said!)
4. UMD Prices
5. Sony's own LocationFree support, but no slingbox support

Those are some of the fresh stings I get from PS land...

In all fairness I think that the post Kaz is upset about belongs in the Console Talk thread. Someone (smart whoever it was) created that thread for general talk about the consoles and a story like this will fit right in there and not in the PS3 impressions thread.

By putting it in here, it appears like another attack just to get under the skin of a select few.

Anyway just my 2 cents.

I just bought a 60 gig version for a friend of mine at work. I happened to be in EB and they had two of them, I knew he had been looking so I called him and made the purchase. (I could of bought the other one too)

I have not wanted one of these at all, but now that it is sitting on my table unopened with the receipt on it, I find myself compelled to open it. Which tells me two things about myself:

1. I am a video game addict.
2. Frodo was a lot stronger willed then me.

Well at least I made someones Christmas for them that has to get me some good karma somewhere.

I'm really starting to like Resistance's multiplayer online component. It has a party system ala Halo. Very fun!

But as far as any other games go...put it this way....I am playing Cool Boarders 2 rather than anything else.

While I recognize that you are responding to someone else, is there really ANY justification for the personal attack? Seriously, either respond without attacking the user personally or just stop responding. Is that too much to ask?

It's funny, I told Jared and Scoop that I would completely ignore you and I've done that. Yet you keep swinging from my nuts and talking to me like I give a f*** about you.
