Everyone loves a white christmas and here in Denver, Co a white christmas we will have.
We're currently in the middle of a blizzard and have surpassed the 2 feet mark. Some places are getting close to 3 feet. Snow is supposed to continue on through most of the day.
Kids are home from school and everyone's work is shutdown. We're in full "sitting in front of the warm fireplace drinking hot chocolate" mode here.
It's just awesome!

No snow here in Central New York, which is a bummer. It's also rare for an area that averages 115 inches of snow per year, about as rare as Lindsay Lohan turning down a free drink.

No white Christmas here in NW Ohio either. We've only have 1 inch of snow so far in December, could possibly be in the Top 10 for least snowiest Decembers.
The thing that scares me though is that December 2006 is perilously similar to the one in 1977. In 1978, the Midwest saw one of their biggest blizzards on record, so will we see a repeat in 2007?

Ever try driving a non-4WD car down a driveway with a foot of snow in it and an even taller mass piled up at the end of the driveway by the local DPW plow?

I grew in North Central PA and was always under the impression that Denver, Co was actually in the mountains and that it had very severe winters year in and year out.
Reality is that the Denver Metro area is east of the mountains and we get more days of sun here than San Diego or Miami. The winters are quite strange, actually. We'll get hit with a decent 6 - 8 inch snow storm and then it'll all be gone 2 days later.
Public Golf courses are open year round here and we usually only get about a 2 week period each winter where it stays frigid cold (0 to single digits). Usually we'll get a cold front come through for a couple of days where it's bitter cold, but then see 40's to maybe even 50's just a couple days later.
It's just much different than what I had always figured Denver to be while growing up in Pa. When I was a kid once we got our first snow of the winter, we had snow on the ground all winter long. That's just not the case here.
Also, most big storms out here don't really come until spring time and consist of that real heavy wet snow. Maybe this year we'll have snow on the ground all winter long. We've got drifts out back in my yard that are easily above 3 feet.

Just finished 2.5 hours of shoveling to get our cars driveable and get a path out of the cul-de-sac. Everyone in the neighborhood was out helping each other. It was actually kinda fun.
We get a major storm maybe once every 3 to 5 years, otherwise it's a few inches here and there throughout the winter as Boom said. I recently was telling people that this is our third winter in our house and I really haven't shovelled in that time. I made up for it today.

Seriously, I love the changing of the seasons and really used to it now...but I have lived in the Northeast my whole life. Doesn't it get bland everyday with 75 degrees or higher like in LA?
Yeah, I need the four seasons, too. Thing is, winters have been very sporadic in central/SW Ohio. Some years we get some good snow, others...nothing. This year it hasn't snowed an ounce. It's raining right now, which just sucks. Late December rain should be snow, damn it.
Everyone's different when it comes to that kinda thing, but personally I'd rather it be 35 degrees than 95.

I can honestly say no. Having lived in Colorado for a couple of years, I enjoy being able to golf, surf, play pickup basketball outside, all year around.

Co sign, heading down to S.D. tomorrow to my moms for Christmas eve party.
I can go to big bear for snow, malibu for waves, past lancaster for desert wave dune running, etc, etc. We have it all here dont we Krich? LOL spoiled we are.
No doubt. If I want snow...two hour drive up the mountain. Big Bear is awesome...my pops has a cabin up there and a boat in the marina. Pretty much covers all of the seasons for me. Gotta love a two hour drive for seasons. But being able to get in my car in the winter without having to defrost the damn thing...makes it worthwhile.
Jay-zus, a two-hour drive, and I'm in another country. And I don't mean one where the median income is about the same as someone working part-time on the fry line at McDonald's.
I'll take the four seasons, snow, skiing, boating, superb hunting and fishing, etc., all right out my back door. Added bonus: No earthquakes, forest fires, drive-bys, car alarms, traffic or freeway chases.
